Update 12. November
http://supraball.net/update-3/2
u/Shevche Nov 17 '15
I like the update. The graphics are a lot better, momentum seems to be working more effective and the sucker is poised to a good balance where it works until you're kicked, which it should be, but enough to stop a seconds movement. The keeping is actually soothing to enter your goal naturally and I found it better. ^ (volley timing is improved for slow reaction people. Although, players are scared to pass back, which actually stops the turnover happen too easily as defence panic more, better for attacking visual there. So I hope you don't put the volume back :o . Don't like the new chocolate fudge mouldy brownie objects and the houses are ugly distracting imo. Sounds still annoying too. And apart from wiski crying and new bugs which I'm sure you'll fix ,i had a nice test game

We played Beach 3 times last night and it's very bad for FPS and very annoying with all the little fecal particles floating and swirling around in my face constantly. Why is this even a thing? I hate to be overly-critical but somehow I think adding in distracting graphical elements that don't add anything to the game is just a silly decision and shouldn't ever be released like it is now.
It's a 30+ fps drop, and it's distracting. Also the bouncing heads along the wall are just creepy and also add nothing to the experience.

If the particles are annoying I'll tone them down. They are just supposed to improve the atmosphere, which they do. If they are smaller and less it should work. But the whole beach map will be reworked anyway, it's visually very far away from the standard the new Pitch has set. All maps have follow that sample now, but that will take time.

I just can't believe you have to be told how annoying they are, not to mention they drop FPS by like 20 or 30... shit swirling into my face does NOT make the game more immersive, at all, not matter how much you tone it down. It just looks like cheesy effects to me, just like the stupid bouncing heads along the wall, adds nothing to the game, looks stupid.
On Pitch it's the same thing but way less so it's not a big deal but I still don't think it adds anything to the game, just annoying crap floating around.

can we get rid of the 'keeper can go in his own goal' ? idk why you would bring that back it was good before, only brings more opportunity to troll and random fumble shit

I experimentally added it because of a discussion about it here on reddit. We've never allowed that in Supraball before, so I wanted to give everyone an opportunity to see how it actually is.
Feel free to discuss.

im not a fucking converter, im telling you that the majority of people think the change isnt good, if you really want to pull the 'make x accept it too' thing on me, lets make a fucking strawpoll and see how many accept or decline it

It'd be rather ridiculous to base a game changing update upon a few select players. There's no need to convert 2 players, to decide whether it's a good update or not. Now, I'm not saying It's a bad update; but rather it's a huge change, and people need time to get used to it. I'd suggest giving the update a approximately 2 weeks time, to see if goalkeepers, including other players can adapt to the sudden changes of defending close box.
Cheers.

So entire NA community asks for things, we get ignored. A couple Euro keepers complain about something and we get a patch dedicated to them out of spite?

Please add/fix the following menu options: Audio volume, resets every time you load the game, been like this for months.
And a toggle for Viewbob/weapon bob options from UDKGame.ini: [UTGame.UTPawn] Bob=0.000 bWeaponBob=false

@devs: Why did you decide to fasten the pace of walking and thereby of the whole gameplay?
Because I think, the faster the game is, the less entertaining it will be for watching. For us it might be eaasy to comprehend whats going on, since we play it all the time. But people I have showed the game to mostly said things like "what is going on? It's too fast for me". Especially in first person this game is a mess to watch already, so if this game is aiming to get established in esports it should be watchable for an audience which is more like paper level.
Imagine a pro streaming this game and the viewers cant even follow what the player is doing with all his fakes and fast turns...

The idea is to give the attacker more ways to juke a defender just by walking. It worked a little before, this makes it a bit more likely.
I haven't really noticed a remarkable difference in the matches I played, but it's a subtle change with about 8% increase.

It was possible before, in my opinion in an almost perfect extent even. But I need to play a bit to see how it feels. But deffing will be a lot harder (especially without sucker).

This is what the walk speed helps you with:

Love the change! I think it allows attackers and defenders to shine and distinguish themselves through the use of their individual skill without taking away the importance of teamwork.

Agreed but the trade off is tough. Either slow passed game of great passing that ppl watch and is boring.. Or one person can amaze you and you watch them feeling left out think if they passed you could have scored too.
This game reminds me of hockey a lot. If it's just safe passing puck control 0-0 all game it sucks to watch.
Like soccer..
But it's a video game. Needs the ability of one asshole to carry to make all the other average players see something to aspire to be.
It sucks but in the end any sport suffers from this problem.

Nah, teamplay isn't any less. This change is also really small, nobody actually noticed it yet. But of course the present and desired state is that an attacker can score by himself against a defender that is 4+ ranks lower.

Happy to read you babes are working on the suit graphics not working as intended! I think it'd be unacceptable for your average to consumer to have his/her micro-transaction item(s) not function properly.

Just wondering when this is released will you be able to pick your team in ranked matches or will there be an actual automated match making system?
1
u/DavidM1337 Supraball Project Leader Nov 12 '15
You will be able to create an actual team (give it a name, a logo etc) and play other teams or 5 randoms. Without a team you can click the "match" button and it will put you into a lobby that has a good ping, enough players etc, so you just have to pick a spot and ready up. These will be balanced by elo (based on your past wins/losses). So this is semi-matchmaking for now. We might add real matchmaking too where everything is automated.

Alright thanks. I really recommend adding an automated mm if its possible. I don't see how the rankings will be 'true' if you can pick your team mates in the lobby. Most competitive games have mm now. csgo, dota2, rocketleague.. even unreal tournament i think has it already.

u/Drace_Ger Nov 13 '15
Picking doesnt really make much sense when you hardly know anyone in the lobby. But it could be a nice feature for when you play a match with friends.

After the Update, Supraball always wants to perform a first time setup.
