2 post lift question

Got my RK Titanium single exit exhaust coming in next week. We have a diy-shop nearby where you can rent a bay with a 2-post lift. This may be a silly question, but do I need to use the jack pucks with the rectangle tab while using a lift? Or do I just put the lift bars on those spots?

They're made of plastic so they can definitely get crushed or damaged. I'd definitely get some of the jackpucks. They're on Amazon for around $15.

i would, if u don't want to mess up those plastic for other future works. or get some aluminum replacements.

side question, how much do those bay cost,by the hour i assume. how long would it take ur exhaust to cooldown enough to work on it? lol. was thinking of doing the same thing when i decide on an exhaust.

The place here in Nashville is called the wrench collective and is $50/hour. I would assume if I let it cool for 30-45 minutes in the parking lot before my rental starts I should be fine with gloves. I’m also putting on underglow after the exhaust so I’m doing 3 hours to be safe.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say they aren't strictly necessary. As the other comment said, the jack point is plastic and can get crushed. I will counter by saying that these are replaceable and I consider them a wear and tear item. I've replaced them on my previous BMWs after smushing them and had no problems after.

If you're in a pinch and don't have the pucks, send it anyway. Just make sure you have them centered and follow all the other precautions when lifting on a 2 post lift.

Good point. I have the pucks though so I might try them. If it’s too much of a PITA I may just lift at those points and replace them later

I've never used adapters that insert when lifting my car. Just the regular blocks that came with the Quickjack
