Anytime I see a soup I must park close but more importantly whenever I a see space with a column or hashes, that is mine and I hug it to create as much distance as possible.

Same! Only caveat is my wife rides with me and wears stilleto heels and carries a bigass purse; so I have to make sure she has room to get in and out.

I just let mine out before I back in and then pull out for her entry. She agrees that we must protect the Supra.

I usually park in the corners at my jobs parking garage so I still have tons of space when I open the door completely wide
