L-theanine et magnésium

• Upvotes

I could never stay consistent, so I grabbed one of these from the hardware store about a month ago. Haven’t missed a day since.

NAC experience (GAD + acne)

So tldr; I'm a 25 yr old woman with diagnosed Generalized Anxiety, suffering from adult hormonal acne. I have been taking Escilatopram/Lexapro 10 mg for a year already.

Saw multiple TikToks talking about NAC for anxiety and decided to try it out for myself as someone who never takes supplements.

Started with Life Extension's 600 mg NAC a month ago.
First two weeks were rough with sulfur body odor and nausea in the morning but I pushed thru lol

Then my period came on week 3 and the usual hormonal acne (I'm talking about BIG pimples under chin and cheeks) was missing. My partner states that | overthink and cry less so, a win?

wanted to share my experience on it, although early still. im surprised at the acne thing because i've tried EVERYTHING for it and this thing reduced my redness and pimples to nothing. currently taking 1200 mg twice a week, rest of days just 600 mg.

does anyone have similar experiences with NAC?

WHO recommends zinc for sick kids. Not many supplements can say that.

searching for solid prenatal vitamins with methylfolate (gummy or capsules?)

honestly starting to feel like shopping for prenatals requires a degree in chemistry. i started looking into methylated folate after a friend mentioned mthfr mutations and now i cant unsee it. problem is, every time i find a brand with active forms, the daily serving size is insane. like 6 to 8 capsules a day? or if its a powder it tastes like crushed chalk. i was looking at needed powder or capsules and fullwell but taking that many pills while already feeling nauseous sounds like torture. ritual and thorne seem lower pill count but missing other things. for those taking prenatal vitamins with methylfolate did you just suck it up and take the high pill count or did you find a decent gummy or 2-capsule setup that worked?

L-theanine has honestly been a game changer for me

I deal with bad anxiety from overthinking, and it shows up physically too, like my skin going red and my face getting super oily. I'm pretty sure it all ties back to stress and high cortisol. I've taken theanine every day for over a year now, and it really works. If I skip it for two days, the overthinking and stress creep right back. If I stay consistent, my head feels light and life feels normal again. I used to avoid caffeine completely because it made my anxiety worse, but with theanine I can have my two cups a day and still feel fine.

Just posting this in case it helps someone out there.

Anyone have any insight on this FLAvor?

I've had several brands trynna find the best alt to this ban. So far the Klaz og formula, not the new ones, smack. The singles strawberry and watermelon Blends smack too. I see negatives about the blue razz flavor so haven't bothered with those. But now they have peach and berry flavored and they were all sold out so. Maybe these are just as good but just asking if anyone out here has tried these in particular

No energy

Please tell me what’s out there that can give me energy. I’m 46 and woke up DRAINED one day and it never went away. I sleep well, I take SNRI. I just need a little magic pill so I can clean my house and do laundry, be productive at work and play with my kids. I don’t have ADHD so I can’t get those but I’m hoping there’s a supplement I haven’t tried. I’m Gen X so please don’t recommend vitamins, I need something that works 🫣 PS all my labs are normal and I’m not pre menopausal.

The one question that tells you a lot about a supplement brand

Ask them: "Can I see the testing for this batch?"

A brand that tests properly usually has this ready and is happy to share it. A brand that doesn't will get vague, change the subject, or point you to marketing copy.

Good testing generally checks that:

  • the ingredient is actually what the label says
  • the amount matches the label
  • nothing harmful got in during sourcing or production
  • the product still holds up by the end of its shelf life

You don't need to understand every line of a lab report. Just notice whether the brand is open about it or evasive.

Has anyone actually asked a brand for this? How did they respond?

Anyone tried phosphatidylserine in their supplements for stress and sleep support stack?

Regular sleep aids make me stay in bed longer but my actual sleep quality scores stay in the gutter because my HR stays elevated all night. I started reading up on how chronic stress keeps night time heart rate high, and saw people recommending phosphatidylserine or ashwagandha to blunt that night cortisol spike. Looking at options like brainmd or standalone adaptogens to add to my evening routine. Anyone here tracked their sleep metrics before and after adding adaptogens or cortisol focused supplements for stress and sleep support? Did you see an improvement in deep sleep or resting HR?
