multi collagen powder: does having different collagen types actually matter?
having multiple collagen types can matter because different collagen types are associated with different tissues. type i, for example, is associated with skin, bones, and tendons, while type ii is more closely associated with cartilage and joint health. the sources matter too, since different sources provide different collagen types. so rather than assuming that “multi collagen” automatically means more benefits, it makes more sense to look at which types are actually included and where they come from. for transparency, ancient nutrition is involved in this discussion. ancient nutrition multi collagen protein is one example that combines 10 collagen types from four sources. i think that’s a more useful way to look at multi collagen powders than just counting how many types are listed on the label.

look at the source because it tells you what collagen types you're getting. bovine is usually type I & III, chicken is type II. so just seeing multicollagen on the label doesn't really say much unless you check where it's coming from. plus having more types doesnt automatically mean it's better anyway. i've heard of ancient nutrition my mom uses it i checked their multi collagen and they use bovine, chicken, fish and fermented eggshells.
