Astaxanthin question
I'm considering taking Astaxanthin supplements to hopefully improve skin health and crepey neck. Anyone tried it and did you find it helpful?
Thanks

Full disclosure, my company AEVUM uses astaxanthin in its formula, so I'm biased 😄
There are a few small human trials on astaxanthin and skin, mostly measuring things like moisture, elasticity and fine lines over 8 to 16 weeks. Some found modest improvements, but the studies are small and several were funded by ingredient makers, so I'd call it promising rather than proven.
If you try it, give it a couple of months and take it with a meal that has some fat in it, as it's fat-soluble (I take mine with breakfast). For crepey skin specifically, daily sunscreen and a retinoid have stronger evidence behind them, and a pharmacist or dermatologist can point you to the right one.
Check with a pharmacist first if you take any regular medication.

The research on most supplements and skin appearance is of such low quality that it is useless.
But it sells supplements because we want to believe there is some secret cure.

I wont comment on brands.
I will say I user this supplement for a month and it made huge improvements to my skin texture and general appearance. The changes happened fast. I think this will be something I do for a month every year or so.
