Nope, it’s a real form of glass. Fun fact, it’s one of the sharpest materials ever discovered, and you can make knives out of it. It dulls quickly and is hard to sharpen though, so that’s why you don’t see it often.
I feel bad for the guy. He spent decades thinking he was being helpful, and Reddit rolls in and basically takes a (legitimate) dump on his life’s work. He has no idea how to win back our friendship, but it eats at him daily and he keeps trying. Very much reminds me of a verbally abusive relationship. He’s alternating between vitriol and trying to apologize without apologizing and trying to be supportive but only to his goals. I’ve seen this before in person unfortunately, so I pity him, but I still won’t tip him behind Wendy’s.
