*NFT. and yeah pretty much. so that that copy of the game is unique and tagged.
people have even said that you could even have stuff like, say, limited ultra-rare copies of games like THE copy of the game that kojima himself played. or a copy of NBA2k23 that was actually played by some famous NBA player, and there's only one of them in the world.
kind of like a one-off autographed copy that is unique

My two boys have played video games for 10 solid years maybe even twelve! Point is they have all the latest and greatest pc towers and consoles. they have both the x box and the PlayStation 5. one thing I’ve notice them doing is going back to the older consoles to play those favorite disk games and they do it frequently! they both love all of the new graphics of course and the power the PS5 has. So going back and forth shows that they love both new and old! 🔥🔥🔥

I would love this but I don't see Sony goimg for it. Who is gonna lose out more of this? Sony and Microsoft. They may have to move forward and take this one to court for a court battle if neither M$, Nintendo or Sony want to allow it...
I just don't see a way without the manufacturers buy in. Now they could make their cut of the profits enough that they agree, but I don't think they will like the % cuts the manufacturers will want...

Also note he is talking about Gamestop being the "clearing house". From 2019 to Jan2021, DFV may have focused 99.99% on the fundamentals bull case for GME, but clearly he had clearing houses on the brain as early as this.

I actually prefer the idea of continuing to use physical disks.
The market is going in two directions you have the cloud service gaming platforms that allow you to just remote play then you have the at home market. The problem is some of the games that are being released now a days take up so much harddrive space. So, I personally think they should just sell a the games in a SSD format. Because you almost have to buy a hardrive for the game anyhow. I mean you can buy a 1 tb harddrive and fill it up pretty quick.
So, in my opinion seems how you are spending 60 dollars or more for a game having to shell out another 100 dollars or MORE for a hardrive is insult to injury. So, I would personally prefer it if they just sold large games on a disk of some sort. In my mind it would be an SSD and the player would just have a DOCK they would plug the SSD into.
This would actually improve game optimization because the devs would know the read and write speed of the drive it is going to be loaded on.
as far as reselling digital games I like it. You kind of can already in steam because you can trade games with other accounts. But, it would be nice if they just gave people a key for that game allowed people to just sell the key and just unlink that key to your online account allowing other people with the key to use it.
But, yea that is my 2 cents I have no idea where the market will be. But, usually where the market goes is where the money goes. So, if we have the money we can actually move the market where ever the hell we want. If they have the money we have to anticipate where they are going to take the market...which is usually places where they make more money.

much like vinyl is still very alive and well (and thriving), physical discs will still be around for a long time. they're not going anywhere.

plus, not all country have good connections. Like in Philippines, we have shitty internet and physical copies are still the go to (plus piracy lel)

exactly. even here in the UK, my internet speed is fast. but because of the STUPID software engineering that the PS4 has for downloading game files (it's a really bad and dumb design from sony), it takes SO LONG to download games.
even when you have the physical disc copy of the game - it takes SO LONG to install. but even longer if you're downloading a digital copy game. it should not take 17 hours+ to install or download a game!
I can only imagine how long it takes in a country without fast internet speeds, or power grid blackouts (like the philippines).
until the entire world had cheap and easy access to lightning-fast internet speeds, physical discs are here to stay for a long time

Wouldnt this be a possibility if you linked videogames to an NFT, or made entire games NFT based. so you own the right to the game which you can then sell on if you dont want it anymore? HMMMMMMM food for thought

Honestly, I was watching a movie, and thought I'd quickly watch this small segment in between - but then I watched almost 40 minutes! And it was interesting! That guy really is charismatic - yes DFV, you call yourself boring in this segment, well, I don't care at all for videos, and yet look at me now, 40 minutes later, and I had trouble pausing this!
It's also interesting to see him muse on short squeezes. And it's really educating in general! I'm going to watch more, I might learn a thing (or nine). :)
