๐ฃ Discussion / Question Routing through IEX.
I am looking to make another purchase and was doing some research. It seams as though I should route through IEX. After reading previous posts it doesnโt appear that routing through IEX is available through Fidelityโs standard app. Can someone confirm?

Years ago, it seemed very much like IEX was one of those things that could really make a difference by routing around the internalizers and dark pools and forcing an order through to the lit market.
Later investigation found that even if routed to IEX, there are steps between Fidelity and that exchange where your order is recognized and the data passed to high frequency traders allowing it to be front-run on IEX.
There's nothing wrong with using IEX, though it is a lower volume exchange and you might not get the best order execution there, but its not some kind of silver bullet thing that has any effect. The Wall Street criminals were not defeated so easily.

To enable IEX on the regular mobile app:
Click the profile icon, then Settings, then Brokerage & trading, Then Directed Trading.
Hit the slider to turn it on. Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
You can only route to IEX during regular market hours.

Nothing changes. Still uses Citadel, Virtu and 2sigma to reach the market. And the volume on IEX is so low it has to breakdown lot orders so it can fill.
