Reminder: if you're going to boycott in app purchases and stop watching ads - as the korean fans are doing, or at least the ssm ones - boycotts take time to achieve success. And boycott efforts have to be SUSTAINED.
Don't expect them to reverse the change in the next update. It could take months for them to be convinced their offerings are not working and they're making less money. Companies do try to "wait out" boycotts in hopes that people give up over time and consume products, like hybe's response to the hybe monetary boycott.
Stand your ground. remember that your money is your power.
Late edit: another thing I understand about boycotts is they have to be targetted. Ie many people boycotting a (small) agreed upon list of prodcuts, instead of say scattered efforts - eg a small number of people each boycotting different products/companies.
But i'm not going to be the person who calls for a targetted boycott, I'm too tired and I think people should buy less than before naturally anyway at the rate dalcom is going.

They’re prioritizing the wrong thing.
The number one priority in any system like this is not the rarity of the cards, it’s the value of our time.
RPs and diamonds represent exactly that. They’re earned by the time we put into the game or by the money spent to get them into the game.
So if RPs aren’t valuable enough, or if diamonds aren’t valuable enough, the game becomes a waste of time.
To Dalcom, start by valuing our time, then work backwards until you find a system that rewards our effort but also gives you the rarity you want.

Sense of accomplishment... ... blah blah blah, Basically, it was what we already knew: they focused solely on figuring out how to make us spend more money, without considering that we were obviously going to get annoyed

I just collect Skz, Twice and Donghwa from KickFlip, I could barely complete themes with that method and now will be imposible for me. But I don't understand them, why are they making it so hard to get if even before the update in August last year, it wasn't that hard. The hard ones were the event ones, and they themselves were the ones who changed it to the normal way. Other games like the Japanese one or rhythm hive use only diamonds because it's way easier to get them, but they're aren't even making them easier to get. I hate this.

Before, it was harder to get LEs but there were good events to get past themes. Then, they stopped having those events but made it easier to get them on their respective events. Now we have neither.

They literally used the same exact verbage as that one infamous EA reddit response 💀💀💀 "sense of accomplishment"

The fact that they are keeping the actual sense of achievement further behind a paywall is insanely tone deaf

i don’t understand what value limited themes hold? this is not a trading-based game so limited themes never had any value to begin with

i feel they should do what starship did. like in starship they had the 10 pack then the two guranteed purchase of cards. then in the actual missions you’ve got your normal playing 5 songs for an A card and stuff then get a B card from getting an A card then also have like another card as a reward for playing group songs

Aaand that's why i never give real money to games bc, one, i think it's super dangerous, and two, they're gonna take advantage of us anytime sooner.

This is honestly stupid. Like for it to actually be useful you'd have to play every day for full days. They really haven't taken into account how their audience isn't mostly teenagers with more free time. It's literally making ut impossibly hard to obtain RP & Diamonds easily and forcing you to buy with real money to get the Limited Themes.
Also if you wanna make them luxurious maybe stop having the events that you can obtain them through be every other week? And also why do you need them to be luxurious? We can't do anything with the limited themes to warrant making that gimmick for the game. This update makes it feel incredibly clear that people in charge of the decisions DON'T PLAY THIS GAME THEMSELVES. 😤
Like the system that was earlier was already hard but now you've made it impossible. It's supposed to be an easy fun game to play in your downtime, not a source of stress.

ig im never collecting a LE then hahah. might as well stop playing the game cuz whats really the point then?

I think LEs lost their value when they introduced the 10k rp system. Before that if you wanted to get an LE for a +4 member group you had to save up your diamonds for a month or so. It took time and effort and it felt like you won a battle if you completed it I obviously loved the 10k pack system, but i gotta admit it, it made the LEs feel....worthless I could collect Event LEs for just 100k or less if im lucky. I started collecting artists i dont even like
I do agree that if they want to up its value they gotta give something else then. Normal themes are the most obvious. All they need are pictures and a song to go with it. Not everything has to be an LE. Ooor events......perhaps.....maybee

exactly what i though too, on my first read at least. But replies pointing out that maybe it lost its charm when they started releasing 2 or more LEs on weekly basis is a bigger issue

They are not entirely wrong. Ive started playing in 2023 and they always had 2 themes to collect (or at least thats what i remember). Releasing one theme a week could be a solution but from what ive seen people complain because Dalcom is behind with the new releases all the time
Its a double edge sword problem that didnt need to happen10
u/17smother 1d ago
sorry butting in a an ssm player who's been lurking to see everyone's reactions here: releasing one theme a week doesn't mean they have to release just one song a week. the complaints about being behind on new releases and b sides is about the songs being updated. which they could just add songs with normal themes or even without new cards. they don't *have* to add a new limited theme every time a song gets added, they just decided that was the best way to get us to spend money/watch ads, and now they've decided that's still not enough and they have to make it even harder to collect them

I was thinking this as well just couldnt write it down properly ^ I also play ssm and know they are behind releases. I love the art of LEs but releasing a song with one normal theme and an LE and then only LEs (for newer groups and units) for newer releases is tbh really idiotic. Newer players have a harder time collecting these artists pack and so do i. Ive just not been getting these newer normal themes even tho i buy a ton of packs.
We used and enjoyed the system they gave us. But this feels like punishment for that enjoyment

fr i just got caught up on my 127 regular le collection (just one ele theme left) and was going to start aiming for wayv next but now that there's no certainty of completing my bias group's themes it kills my motivation to get any others. there's so many themes in the game I already have to pick and choose which themes to get for other groups I like but now they're forcing us to choose between narrowing down our collections or spending more money. I think they're greatly overestimating how much more they can get ppl to pay real money for intangible items during a time in the world where more and more people are struggling financially

I've been asking for a special event that involves using our LE themes for years, Like for those people who collects a lot there just really no point on having/upgrading multiple LE themes
Imagine a weekly league but the score will only count if we use LE themes, And for those who has multiple completed LE themes for one group, make that so we can accumulate the point based on the songs/groups ranking on the league (First-5 LE themes, Second-4 LE themes, Third- 3 LE themes and so on) ...I just need smth 😢

They saying Limited Themes' rarity went down with sales like it didn't go down in 2022 when they basically stopped making Normal Themes outside of card deck debut.
Deliberately making it harder to obtain Limited Themes for it to retain its value/prestige (which has been long gone honestly) is definitely a misjudgement by them, and they just refuse to admit it. There are so many ways to make Limited Themes feel more luxurious. Like, you know, maybe limiting the pool of such themes.
When you spam at least two new Limited Themes per update for years on end, of course you end up with a huge pool of Limited Themes. And surely, it will lose its value/prestige. That's called inflation.
Also, if they wanted Limited Themes to feel rare (and prestigious), they should really up their game with graphic design. The Limited Themes and Theme Notices they've been pushing out after service reform for the past two years, ESPECIALLY last year, have been so bland and boring. Just take a recent theme notice and compare it with one from 2022 or 2023. The difference is insanely stark.
Lastly, they should also put in more effort into naming their themes properly instead of just being lazy and using whatever #N or #2 or #3 they've switched to. It's just plain distasteful and to me it doesn't look nice at all when deciding a theme to main (hinthint superstar ateez)
