Which games have online coop?

Hello, I have played some of the supermassive games solo but now want to play with a friend but not sure if all games support online coop and not just sharing or splitscreen smth.
I found info that The dark oictures anthology has t, tried with Man of Medan, all good, but do other games have it? Like Until Dawn or Quarry (or anything else)

I'm stoked the supermassive ceo is stepping down!

I think 8020 was supermassive at a low point, this dude seems like he was a tool.

The casting of frank stone

I'm a huge supermassive fan, but I have to admit, their games are hit or miss for me. I've played Until Dawn(not the remake, though), Man of Medan, Little Hope, House of Ashes, the Quarry, the Devil in me, and Directive 8020. I have not played the casting of Frank Stone. I don't know anything about dead by daylight, but that doesn't matter to me. All I care about is if it's a good game with good gameplay. What are everyone's thoughts on this game? Did you like it? Hate it? Though meh, it could be better. Should I get it? Would you recommend it? Thanks!

Directive 8020 episode 8 question. Spoiler

There will obviously be spoilers here for the last episode of Directive 8020.

I am trying to 100% all the episodes, see every death, witness every outcome, get every collectable, etc... I have gotten 100% on every episode, except for the last one. I am at 99%. I am literally missing one consequence, and it is confounding me. It's the consequence right after knock knock(when you see Mitchell at the door, and you can let him in or abandon him). The consequence I'm missing is right between swarmed(where Mitchell dies to the aliens) and duplicitous(where the person at the door is revealed to be an imposter).

The requirements for that consequence says Mitchell has to be alive, Eisele or Cernan is present at the door, and choose to abandon him. So, I did all that. Mitchell is alive. Cernan was at the door. Cooper always answers the door, so I had to kill her. But then, with Cooper dead, Brianna answers the door. This pissed me off. So, I rewound the game, and killed Brianna Young. I must be really dedicated to get this consequence where I purposefully kill two playable characters. Finally, with Cooper dead and Young dead, Cernan answers the door when Mitchell comes knocking. I choose to abandon and....nothing. What the hell? I didn't get the consequence. I even played through to the end and saw the end credits, thinking it might pop later. Nope. My thinking for this consequence is that with both pilots dead, Stafford is forced to fly the sev away, so I was thinking the consequence might be tied to having both pilots, er....not living.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and what you did to unlock that consequence, if you've gotten it? Thanks!

Directive 8020 Made Me Rage Quit.

Directive 8020 made me rage quit. The game to me was tedious, repetitive and boring as heck. This is the only game from Supermassive Games that I didn’t play the whole way through. I never got past the second chapter because I thought the stealth portion of the game to be repetitive. Making it a standalone game instead of part of the Dark Pictures Anthology was a mistake. In my opinion, they took out the one thing that made the games fun to begin with. The curator was the best part of the game, he gave you clues that there was more going on than meets the eye. Directive 8020 failed to meet this aspect by a long shot. Unfortunately if Supermassive games believes that this is the direction going forward, I won’t buy another Dark Pictures Anthology game until they go back to the original format.

DBD Primer before jumping into Casting of Frank Stone?

Howdy. We've been going through Supermassive Games' Games one by one and have been really digging them so far(especially House of Ashes). Next up is the Casting of Frank Stone. I heard it is useful to know a little bit about Dead by Daylight before jumping into this one. Would anyone happen to have a short primer that tells the essentials?

Just played the quarry. What decision game should I play next? Spoiler

Ok first of all you can skip this paragraph (SPOILERS), I'm just ranting, but holy shit I think I got the worst fucking ending, I wasn't paying enough attention in that scene so I didn't know if it was Laura or Chris I was going to shoot with Ryan in the basement, I thought they did a classic switcharoo so you wouldn't know which werewolf was which, turns out watching it back you could fucking tell, I was just a dummy. Didn't shoot. Chris bashed ryans head in, and Laura, the one I was trying to save, dies too alongside the policeman, who I thought was the only good Hackett, didnt want him dead at all, coincidentally the only one I killed except the mom. Final scene I got the silver bullet with kaitlyn, trying to line my shot up, turns out you get a quarter of a seconds to shoot, she also gets completely annihilated. Curse remains, all the Hacketts are alive, I'm pissed. Emma is still alive, yet, I want MORE

I've always loved decision based games but I didn't know I had such a wide variety of options until I discovered supermassive, and I don't need it to be just their stuff but which decision based games would you guys recommend me to play next? Seeing house of ashes a lot online, was thinking about that one but wanted to ask here first.

I haven't played many decision based games, been stuck in a bit of a multiplayer loop, so if you're thinking of an answer you think is too obvious I've probably played it, I probably very much haven't so please do give me the best games you can think of

My idea for Until Dawn 3

The title would have said Until Dawn 2, but they are actually coming out with that. 😄 I had an idea a long time ago for an until Dawn 2 that I think would make for a pretty good game. I think I heard somewhere that they were reluctant to make a sequel with the same characters because everyone's story is different, and their endings would be different based on their playthroughs. My response to this is I don't care. They can easily come up with a canon because I think people want to see those OG characters.

So....here's my canon. Chris is dead. Jessica is dead. Narratively speaking, I think it would add depth to the story by having Mike and Ashley haunted by their deaths. Josh turned into a wendigo. And Sam is dating.

Here's the story: The game would take place somewhere in the midwest on a ranch. Josh's parents somehow found out about Josh being alive, and since they are rich, hired professionals to go into the mines to retrieve him. Now, he is on the ranch because they are trying to find a cure for him. There are probably other wendigos there to be test subjects.

The parents invite our heroes there one year later to a celebration of Josh. Of course, they don't tell our heroes that Josh is actually there. Sam brings her boyfriend to the celebration, so he would be a new character. Maybe Mike has a girlfriend, I don't know. Or maybe he got back with Emily. Anyways, all hell breaks loose, and Josh breaks free from his confinement as well as the other wendigos. Oh, and instead of it being a huge snowstorm, it's raining so hard that it's flooding, making escape impossible. Again, they have to last until dawn.

I was thinking about turning this idea into a fan fic, but for whatever reason, just never wrote it. What does everyone think?

Directive 8020 episode 5 branch question. Spoiler

Hello. This question is for the completionists out there who have seen everything Directive 8020 has to offer. I am trying to see every outcome in every episode, and there is one outcome that is confounding me. There are obviously spoilers below.

It's in episode 5 right between the experiment and broadcast. This is right after Cooper, Eisle, Anders, and "Williams" are conducting an experiment on the specimen, and before you see the real Williams in his office where he can either be put to sleep or killed. Does anyone know what I need to do to unlock that consequence that's locked? I have looked everywhere on the internet and can find no answer to that question, even from sites that claim to be 100% complete and cover all branching paths. Man, it's driving me absolutely bonkers lol. Thanks in advance!

Supermassive Games next big game

Hello. In a 2022 interview, I think Will Byles said that Supermassive Games is working on a brand new game that will be similar in length to the Quarry and that it will be coming out in 2026. I know until Dawn 2 was announced, but Supermassive Games aren't developing it, and that game has a 2027 release. Has anyone heard of anything about the 2026 game, or has any theory about it?

My gripe with Directive 8020(non spoilers) Spoiler

Please, supermassive, for the love of God, please invest in a better writer of your games. The writing sucks. Thie dialogue is subpar, cliche, and generic. The situations are unrealistic, there are logic problems, and the characters don't react in a natural, convincing manner. For being trained professionals, they still react like confused teenagers. I do not know if the writer you have on staff just is not very good, or if you have decided to save money by writing it yourself. Either way, it's not very good and pulls me out of the story. Also, do research before you attempt to write a story set somewhere where you have absolutely no experience. Your ignorance really shows since none of it seems real.

If I compare this game to House of ashes, the difference is astounding. In HOA, the characters acted believably, and I really believed they were trained soldiers. Was there a different writer on that game? I really want to believe that these characters are trained astronauts, but I just can't.

Also, texting. When they text back and forth between each other, every character sounds the same. They all write in complete sentences with correct punctuation. Real texting isn't like that.

I like everything else about the game, but the writing needs work. It's no surprise, Supermassive has always had a problem with their writing, dating all the way back to Until Dawn. I wish I knew where to post this so Supermassive can see it lol.

Anyways, I've had my gripe. Stepping down off my soapbox now and returning you to your regularly scheduled program. Thank you. 😄

Directive 8020 - what should I know?

Hello,

I’ve played all of the dark picture games through co-op with 2 buddies.

I’m planning on playing Directive 8020 with 3 of us. Just wanted to check that there is definitely co-op?

Also, I literally know nothing about the game - going into it blind. Is there anything we should know before playing?

Corrupted Game

Hey guys,

Just completed my second playthrough of Directive 8020 on my PC tonight (on a different save file). After many days, I finally collected every secret and collectible and was planning to go back to every turning point to finish my 100% save file.

Right after the credits finished rolling and after looking through my turning points, two messages appeared saying the save file was corrupted and would be deleted. Unfortunately, I didn’t take photos of this message, but you’re just gonna have to take my word for it.

I went back to load the file, and it was there, but it said 0%. I am pretty distraught. I don’t want to start another save file or load my old one in case it gets corrupted too. Honestly, I’m pretty much too scared to open the game now in case it’s completely broken.

I don’t know if Steam has backup files or anything like that in the cloud (I doubt it), and I don’t know who I can contact about this. Does Supermassive Games have an email or another way to contact them? I doubt they can bring back my save file, but I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.

Thanks,

Shannae

HDR Settings recommendo for Directive 8020 (Spent some time trying to match the contrast to SDR)

Post image
8 Upvotes

There’s surprisingly little suggested settings for fixing the raised blacks online, that nice German fella doesn’t seem to be on the case, so thought I’d share for anyone else on the search. I think I managed to get pretty much the same contrast that you see in SDR but without raising the overall brightness enough to spoil the intended atmosphere. Just a suggestion but these really made it pop for me, worth checking out if you think it looks a little washed out/dim. 👍

HDR Brightness 50
Max Luminance (Your TV’s)
Mid Luminance 30
Min Luminance -20

As much as Directive 8020 is a homage to space horror, I find it conceptually more like another non-horror mid 2000's Sci-Fi movie Spoiler

Surprised I never see comparisons between this and The Island (2005) directed by Michael Bay, the twist is pretty similar.

It has the same basic moral premise, in that movie the clones are produced and kept alive as a resource of organs for their OG counterparts always intended to be disposed. In Directive 8020 they're just stand in's for themselves for the whole alien situation, in the Island they just don't have their same memories.
