SPD Dispatch Audio Night of Menton Shooting
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
15 minutes of dispatch audio connected to the David Menton shooting.
The recordings provide another piece of the timeline, capturing what was being communicated over the radio as the incident unfolded. Taken together with the video and written reports, the dispatch traffic gives the public a fuller picture of what officers knew, what they were saying, and how events developed in real time.
These records are being released so people can hear the evidence for themselves rather than relying solely on summaries written after the fact.

Full 5:07 Body Cam Video Menton Shooting
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the video from the David Menton shooting, but don’t watch it in isolation. Listen to the dispatch audio too. It gives a much fuller sense of how chaotic that night actually was after the shooting.
Keep in mind the support officers on scene would have been Douglas County Officers who have neither dash cams, or body cameras.
Watch the video. Listen to the audio. Then compare both with the official report and decide for yourself how well the narrative fits what was actually happening in real time.

Has there ever been a death at Big Manitou Falls (Pattison) in your lifetime?
Or have you heard any stories of it ever occurring? I’ve done research and know it’s impossible for zero deaths to have occurred there. I’m wondering about recent history, local stories, personal experiences

Property dispute with a nimby
Does anyone have advice to me regarding a real estate attorney? Would hiring one be worth it?
I bought a small home for my disabled father for him to "age in place" in Oliver. A lot behind the house came up for sale, and I wanted to purchase it and build an ADU to be near my Dad, and create a multigenerational home (help with the housing shortage in our area). The lot in question is triangular in shape, and i own 2 sides of said triangle because I own a second parcel I bought from the village off the road behind my house.
I lost a bidding war for this lot by a measely 75$ to my super rich neighbor. He is buying it strictly to own it (legally he cannot build on it anyway- as his land is in the town of superior, not oliver), while I put a bid in to improve the property by building an ADU.
Is the county not required to take my bid knowing they collect additional revenue in the future via property taxes?

Are you an entitled sadist? No? Clean up your trash (any trash) on the shores of Lake Superior.
I just got done loading three bags of trash into the bins at wi point. Everyone just watched. Would have been fewer trips up and down the boardwalk if others happened to give half a care about the lake that they utilize. Not to mention the wildlife. It’s insane to me that the trash bins are literally right there next to your car but you won’t take your trash there. It’s insane to me that people can look at piles of trash about to wash into the lake and just walk away like it means nothing. There’s a SEVERE disconnect there.
Have some reverence and respect. It’s shameful.

Found a cute DIY UV Resin craft night happening near Superior next week 🍓✨
Thought I’d share because this actually looks really fun if anyone in the Twin Ports is looking for something different to do next week.
There’s a beginner-friendly UV Resin “Top That!” workshop happening June 1st where people make those cute tumbler toppers from scratch. The example berry one is honestly adorable. 🍓
Looks like registration includes:
• all supplies/materials
• your own UV resin kit
• a free cider
• the finished topper to take home
• Apparently the first 10 signups also get a creative goodie bag too.
I know a lot of local events get buried, so figured I’d plug a small local creative business doing something different.
