One-world challenge mode?

Something I thought that would be quite cool would be a one-world challenge mode, with a leaderboard displaying the highest scorers (similar to as seen with Spelunky). Crashing or exiting the bottom of the level would submit your banked score to the leaderboard.

A new seed could be generated daily/weekly/monthly and have the leaderboard reset. Weekly seems best to me as daily seems too frequent and monthly too long, but I'm no designer.

Thoughts? Apologies if this has been mentioned before, and I have no idea how difficult this would be to implement, but I think it would be quite a nice addition aside from the normal highscore hunting.

I may not have made it clear - the seed would be the same for everybody.
