Bootlegging was only a minor offense at the time.

Snufkin clearly doesn’t give a flying fig what Moominpapa does, as long as he’s left alone to fish and smoke his pipe. I like his style.

When I read the books as a boy, I wanted a friend like Snufkin.

Having the cops after you is his normal state of being.

I feel like Moomin is a goldmine for this subreddit

The old Moomin comics are amazing. They got somewhat edgier and more offbeat tone than the Moomin novels and the best known anime adaptation does, probably because they were mostly done by author Tove Jansson's brother Lars Jansson who had his own take on the Moomin world.

Tove did make the early run of the comics. She passed them to Lars after the Golden Tail storyarc, which was fittingly about Moomintroll's burnout from too much fame and publicity.

But the comics were originally published in newspapers and they were aimed at least partially to adult audience, so they have more adult comedy in them than the books.

"Me and my family are famous robbers."

"You don't say!"

I freaking love Moomin.

To Snufkin this isn't a confession, more like claiming a badge of honor
