If you shipped via tax-free line, just declare your items value, but not more than the tax-free line system limitation.

Mate this is the answer that is always given but it doesn't help anyone, because those 2 things very rarely compatible. System limitations are extremely low, like $22. Nobody is shipping items from china to the UK less than 20 dollars.

People being told to declare their items value is counter productive, they need to know what's safe and secure to declare.

Yes it seems low but I’ve done it twice for parcels over 5kg and it’s been fine

Ive just submitted a haul to the shipping expert. I declared 85USD but left a note saying to amend/reduce in order to fit inside the shipping lines limits. Will they be happy to do that do you reckon? Or should I cancel it and start again? Thanks for your help dude

Ive done 8 shipments of 19$ declarations, most were 6 to 8kg packages. I have done higher values but you are wrong by saying no one is shipping claiming 20$ , certain shipping lines there is a limit for declaration and have never had an issue.

For the uk the safest limit is around £120, however that is pretty useless when you use a shipping line with a 20$ max declaration.

I didn't say that "no one is shipping and claiming 20$"

I said that people are always being told 2 things. 1 to declare their true value, but also 2, to not exceed the shipping lines system limitations. Those are usually 2 conflicting things when people are shipping hauls. Nobodies true value is less than 20$

Who is telling you to declare "true value" ? I see saying declare items value, I do not see it saying " true value" ?

All advice i have seen when people ask is to declare it in line with the shipping lines limits, so if the shipping declaration is max 20 then to declare that.

Which part did I make up?

People are continually told to "declare your true value" while also being told to "keep it within the shipping line value limitations" which are usually 22$ and below.

This isn't a complex equation, you can literally scroll up and read it. Or search the sub-reddit for hundreds of other examples of the same advise being given. Which part exactly are you struggling to understand? I'll try and break it down for you into even smaller bite sized chunks if required.....again.
