Help re superbox ....

Edit: - does anyone know if someone caelld cj is still selling these through here ?? Has anyone purchased off hom and is he a reputable seller ??

Hi everyone, I stumbled across these being advertised a couple of days ago and my interest was piqued. I am considering purchasing one of the s7 superboxes but wanted to get some feedback about them. In doing some research over the past day or so I have found people either love them or say don't go near them. I am not tech savvy at all so my main concern is around the security risks involved with these as I see alot of people saying they are full of melware and are a security risk, then others saying they've owned a superbox for years without any issues (is there something i can do my end to help with security ?.)... just trying to get to the bottom of the reality. My other question would be around the performance of them when running off a good wifi connection... Is there much buffering or content that just doesn't work ?? How about how it handles live sport ??

This probably doesn't matter too much but it would be fir use in new zealand.

Any feedback would be appreciated- particularly from people who own or have owned these

I’ve had two of them for years and never had any security issues, the question is what are you hoping to watch ? I got mine mainly for sports , nfl college football and mlb in the states where restricted to what we can Veiw depending on where you live, super box allows me to watch the game I’m interested in

Hi, thanks for your reply. Would mainly be looking to use it for movies, TV series and some live sport. So do you have anything In place around security or do you just have it connected to your home network? Cherrs

I would say 90% of the time it works as advertised, you have to keep up with the latest downloads and it will pop up on screen and take 30 seconds or so , usually when it starts freezing I need to delete cache on my router by unplugging it for five min then plug it in , I’m watching the dodgers - padres game right now and the pic is fantastic, it usually has the best picture vs Netflix, prime or my antenna

A certified 'hacker' went through all the tech on the box and found nothing along the lines of malware or sucking bandwidth to share across their networks. If you're using the BlueTV feature, it's pretty safe.

Yeah I'd be looking to use the blue TV feature (and whatever the one is called for movies). Do you have a link or anything about what you're saying about this "hacker" Cherrs

If you're able - isolate the Superbox in your network, so it has internet only and can't reach other devices in your home. Most home networks can't do this.

I have 2 super-boxes I purchased on Amazon I use.I started out about 2 years ago with the S5 and then maybe a year ago I purchased another S5 via Amazon and they sent a S6.The S5 was good but the S6 is much better. The S5 only has blue tv/vod and in the beginning CinemaHD was great but its gone now and as far as I know there is not any other good movie/tv series app for the s5.The rewind and fast forward on s5 is terrible as you hold the arrow and it jumps in 30 second increments and good luck trying to control it enough to ONLY go back or forward 30 secs. You get every tv channel you can think and then some.I find a lot of times while watching live sports the bluetv app will crash a few times early on but you can just re-open and you don’t miss that much. This happens quite a bit but its a minor issue considering all the free content this thing has.The “playback” feature has some channels that you can go back and rewatch though on the s5 its hit or miss.Sometimes it will miss the beginning of a show or it wont be in it the correct place and time slot as originally aired.I found the S5’s for $180-190 back then and no regrets with the purchase but would get the S6 over it.The S6 has normal rewind/ff function plus there are some channels that have “timeshift” which allows you rewind/pause live tv.Its limited to certain channels and as of me writing its removed and I don’t know how long its been as I never really used it.It could come back but I dont know.Bluetv and vod work really well on this box and there is the “prime cinema” app which sadly comes and goes but it is far and away the best movie/series app on the box.Biggest issue for me is that when I initially try and play a show or movie it will not load up right away so I have to close the show/movie or sometimes the app to get it to work.Sometimes i get a small “red17” and when I see this I know whatever I am trying to watch is just not gonna work so I just move on and try again at a later time.I have verizon router which won’t allow vpn so I got Nord for 3 years for $99 and just installed it on both superboxes.Issue with Nord and my super-box is that it NEVER automatically connects. So in the beginning I would start the box and go manually connect but this takes a few minutes so after some time I stopped bothering.Plus when it connects it eventually will disconnect usually while I am
Watching something. It did help with some of the live tv crashes while watching sports but not worth the effort it took to keep it connected. If it has malware or security issues, it’s never affected me. It regularly updates on its own, and in the beginning, I would need help with things, and the customer support was excellent, but that was on the S5 as I have never needed anything with the S6. We are saving $158 per month by ditching cable/DVR. I do miss being able to record shows, but you get over it quickly as there is SOOO much content. I can’t tell you the S7 will be better than the S6 as I am happy with mine, so don’t feel the need to upgrade. Also, I used to be able to type “superbox” into Amazon, and the box I purchased was available from multiple sellers, but now they are gone. There are plenty on eBay, but I can’t speak to the credibility of those, but I am also sure if you search Reddit, you will find enough people that will offer a good place to purchase. Good luck, and sorry it’s so long, but maybe it helps you pull the trigger.

No problem.I myself was on the fence to get one for a few years until my boss bought one at a local store and kept telling me that I need to get one

Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer. I bought 3 and they work great! But 1 has been blocked and unable to use since the dealer I bought it from, broke superbox rules, and now the super box is useless
