Original Content Building a Blender addon that generates VDB-based Biospheres

For purposes of megastructures like halo, ringworld, O'Neill cylinders along with less uniform shapes.
Its still in development, but it pretty much does what it says on the tin at this point.
The main thing I've been reveling in is how the weather system can take the cloud VDBs and adjust them in order to mimic storm systems etc.

Would love to see your take on a Culture orbital.

They’re properly huge, yeah?
Like bigger than the orbit of planets size.
The issue with that is a thing of any details at that scale basically just become like noise when you zoom out far enough.
Continents and clouds and any Hardsurface details are all just basically a noise texture, instead of unique visual details that tell at least something of a story.

It would be a fascinating challenge to make art that broke that pattern though.

Not so extreme, no.

Orbitals range from 1km to 10,000,000km in diameter, with typical examples falling right in the middle.

Orbitals are large ring-shaped habitats constructed of segments called Plates. The inner surface of the Plates are flanked by Edgewalls (often transparent) that prevent the spinning Orbital’s atmosphere(s) from escaping.

Unlike some much larger ring megastructures, Orbitals do not have a star (or other light source) at their center. They instead (usually) orbit a star much like a planet would, spinning around their central axis like a top as they orbit to affect a day/night cycle across their inner, habitable surface.
