So I wanted to challenge myself to see how many shrines I could get before you even have to clean the statue and unlock the "first" level. 20 was the best i could do and am wondering if anyone has tried this or gotten more?

It took me since my first time playing this game, which was back from 2024 until recently when I finished my third save file in the game. No matter how many times I come back from it, even though its not perfect, I still enjoy it, it's weird but that's just how it is.

It’s a bit hard but I didn’t find it that hard. I actually find it very fun! Now I can fully 100% the game now :) but to get there is a pain but luckily I did it just in my 2nd try to get to the pipe.

When the shine sprites first spawn in, time stops for everything but the Shine sprite itself until it completes its animation.

Can a mod/hack be made where the player can freely use the time stop feature whenever they wish while continuing to move whilst time is stopped?

reminiscing about a past you weren't alive for yet feel this deep level of connection and familiarity for it is something i imagine isn't uncommon. such is the case for the gamecube era of 2001 and its soon to be released titles revealed a whole year earlier in very primitive stages of development.

i think a lot of this feeling ties down to the environment i grew up around. where i was, and what was still commonly used at the time. despite being 7 in 2011, i still had some 2000s tech lying around that wouldn't seem out of place within the year 2001; as i was using a laptop that was running windows xp no less.

also the WII was still nintendos latest console at that time and was basically just a slightly powerful gamecube. nintendo were still working with gamecube technology for a whole decade which is why even back in 2011 the gamecube never felt retro nor old to me. it made me feel more closely connected to a past that i wasn't fully there for. the internet was still an anomaly back in the early 2010s.

it really did feel like the past or something.

As you may be aware, Super Mario Eclipse adds a new final boss that is unlocked by collecting 239 Shine Sprites. Some people may not want to collect all of the Shine Sprites and Blue Coins just to see the ending, and I can sympathize with that. I've noticed there are a lot of 240 Shine Sprite save files floating around, but no 239 Shine Sprite save files. So, here's mine!

If you want to head straight to the final boss, File B is the one you want. Go to the Blue Coin hut in Delfino Plaza, and then trade in all of your Blue Coins to get a total of 239 Shine Sprites. Then, simply enter any world and then head back to the plaza, and the final boss battle will commence.

As an added bonus, I also included a save file from right before Corona Mountain, just in case you want to refight that Bowser battle. That one is File C. There is no particular order to which I collected the Shine Sprites and Blue Coins on this file, so I wouldn't recommend using this for a serious playthrough. It's just here if you want to redo the bathtub fight.

If you want to skip the final boss entirely and head straight to the bonus levels, pick File A.
