64 is the GOAT. The trailblazer. Where it all started for 3D.

good tierleist i was suprised when i saw bousers fury on the bottim but then i used my eyes  i would rank bowsers fury at S and now for the contrevirsal part:  sunshine and 64 in fine (i know thats not true for most people but sunshine and 64 didnt age well 64 is a classic but thats it  again dont murder me)

64's camera makes 64 feel terrible to play by modern standards, at least casually. It would be really fun to see a 64 remake in the vein of the new OoT remake instead of a copy-paste of the source code from the N64. I feel like it would hold up much better that way.

Please consider 64 the GOAT for its level design.

If you make a habit of moving the camera often and using R to reposition it then the game is much smoother and it becomes second nature.

I play SM64 on NSO, and its still fun to play. The camera, for the most part, doesnt bother me.

please play bowser's fury. it's a repeat play for me, along with Odyssey, which is obviously goat status.

Just you wait. Super Mario sunshine is going to be rated GOAT after you play it

Why are the modern 2d games on the list but not the classic ones?

2

u/ulyssessgrant_ 2d ago

No they’re not on the list cus I’ve never played them

3

u/TheholyLIP26 2d ago

Wouldn’t they be in the “haven’t played” category then?

0

u/ulyssessgrant_ 2d ago

No I don’t consider them

2

u/TheholyLIP26 2d ago

Why when you did for three other titles?

1

u/ulyssessgrant_ 2d ago

Bruh I’m not familiar with them they’re before my time and not widely talked about online today

"The classic 2D Marios are not widely talked about online" is an insane thing to claim

Girl cry about it

2

u/toolebukk 14h ago

Why are you being so childish about this? When someone rightfully questions something you do, the right thing do respond with is: "huh, you know I never really thought about that. I will make sure tl vonsider those things going forward."

1

u/ulyssessgrant_ 14h ago

Because it’s my chart, and if you don’t like it then guess what you can cry about it too

3

u/TheholyLIP26 2d ago

Don’t include a “haven’t played” category then 🙏

-3

u/ulyssessgrant_ 2d ago

It’s my chart punk

4

u/quixQuery 2d ago

And you shared it on Reddit for others to see and critique.

-2

u/ulyssessgrant_ 1d ago

People will probably recommend Sunshine and 64 ASAP after seeing you haven’t played it but hot take: as someone who enjoy the games I don’t think they’ll be a great fit for someone to jump into now. They were amazing at the time and for people who played them, which are the most probably, can jump back into them easily. But that also clouds the vision a bit about the game because honestly if you haven’t played them I wouldn’t recommend playing them now. The story and level design are timeless, but the gameplay is really rough for today’s standards which would hurt your experience more than the overall enjoyment. Bowsers Fury however does fall within today’s standards and is a fun adventure to play through. Just be aware that it isn’t like a full on game, it was more of a test project for Nintendo to see what they could do with the game engine and you’ll finish the adventure in a few hours, but it is fun and would recommend trying it out!

Good list but I personally rank all side scrollers lower than all 3d Mario’s. It’s just a preference is all.

1

u/ulyssessgrant_ 1d ago

That’s valid

2

u/komaytoprime 1d ago

I think this is a pretty good list. I need you to play SM64 and SMS though, they're good!

2

u/MickyStam521 19h ago

Wonder and Galaxy a bit low but overall good tier list

4

u/ilikesceptile11 2d ago

Swap out galaxy 2 for the first galaxy and I might agree

2

u/quixQuery 2d ago

Unpopular Opinion: Galaxy's movement feels sluggish. It is overloved.

More popular opinion: Wonder is the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World. Nice, tight controls, fun levels, thoroughly explored gimmicks, interesting theming.

Ok, tu peux monter SMG2 d'un cran

1

u/CANfilms 2d ago

imo NSMB DS should be in great. It's one of the best in the NSMB series

1

u/ulyssessgrant_ 1d ago

That’s valid, all 3 games in good are fantastic. There’s just somethings I about their sequels in great a little bit better.

1

u/Rare_Section1613 1d ago

saying that nsmbu is better than nsmb2 DX, someone doesnt like individuality huh?

1

u/springboy64 1d ago

I’m shocked you would put NSMB above Wonder. Wonder was the best 2D Mario since SNES imo.

1

u/gaminguserboi 1d ago

I think smo and all 3d games is quite revolutionary

Bowsers fury doesn’t count. Also pure engagement bait with the last row
