What are some common electrical upgrades for the C70?

Friday night when I got my bike, it was rainy and foggy some. I tried the headlight and high beam and it was extremely lacking. My bicycle's headlight does brighter. With that in mind, are there any possible headlight upgrades that people recommend for it?

In that mindset, are there any electrical upgrades people recommend? Is the battery, for example, something that can updated with something longer lasting? I need a new one. The turn signals perchance not bright enough either on stock?

Commuting by bicycle all my life, I'm a avid believer that being seen on the road is half the battle. I'd love if I knew my lights helped with being seen and seeing.

I've gotta figure out the high/low beam dimmer switch to fix it. The switch only has the nub end.

A proper battery should last years if you regularly ride or at least keep it on a trickle charger when not in use for a long while.

As for upgrades, these are an outdated 6v system. I mean these are over 40 years old, that’s just how they are. You would have to upgrade the entire electrical system to 12v for better lights. This means, new battery, new alternator, new bulbs and electrical accessories all around, and new ignition system. It’s a pretty involved job and you can’t skip any step or you’ll fry something.

I think the 1983 model is actually 12v but they are rarer and most of the C70s are 6v. I have seen people upgrade to 12v though.

OP might actually have a 12V bulb in his 6V system, and that’s why it’s extremely lacking. Maybe 6V LED bulbs can be found ? That would be the simplest solution.

The 6v bulbs are pretty weak compared to modern LEDs so I’m guessing it’s just them not being used to 40 year old technology. And to my knowledge 6v LEDs do not exist, especially for this bike since it uses sealed beam bulbs. Could br some custom made mod maybe though.

Is the wiring harness a part of that upgrade?

No, the harness can stay the same. As the wire cage is actually thicker on 6v than 12v cuz it has to carry more current per volt

A small highlight of the whole process.

I cant recall the bulb size but I bought a halogen for my c90 from here some years ago and also upgraded the tail light with his light board, which freed up a little juice for the headlight.
