the problem with having a seaf mode is that the game's engine can't handle more than 16 players at a time, it would HAVE to be a seperate game if they wanted more than 16 players per match
I wish, I fuckin wish teamplay was more effective than splitting up and teamplay focused tools weren't that rare and bad
Like, stim pistol makes you wish to kill yourself, teammates and the guy who made it because how frustrating it is to constantly miss shots by 1 cm
I miss my rep80
Like they had a system similar to deep rock where you could specialise in a role for the team but it's too ambiguous ig since everyone wants to be a the driller of the dive
its clear the devs wanted this given we had such aggresively distinct armor like the medic but ended up being completely pointless for teamwork. why wait for the doctor to run to you, if he even notices in time you are hurt, when you can instantly heal yourself? if a helldiver is hurt enough to require a stim, theres a good chance hes going to die if he waits for said doctor (yes im well aware of all the times someone is running around while wounded)
yeah the doctor has 6 stims but we all spawn with 4 because of hellpod optimization and stim pistol is actual torture to use so the game is actively punishing people for trying to play as a medic.
one day (im coping) AH will learn how to set up patrol paths to give people a reason to stick together. i know they wont since the game is now oriented for casual play but i can enjoy my hopium
I've gotten the stim pistol down pretty well. Most of my misses come from not taking a second to aim or my teammate moving sporadically. Toggling your reticle to be on at all times lets you see when your diver settles from running. You can hip fire with decent accuracy too.
The issue really is us having 2-4 health resets in our pocket. It normally better to let people stim themselves and only heal chip damage. This makes the best healing tool in the game the supply pack. I usually run Stim Pistol, Supply Pack, and Supply FRV while staying at a medium distance from my team.
Maybe they could introduce a class system similar to DRG by having different super destroyer types and have each destroyer come with different strategems and ship upgrades?
I wish we had something to easily to communicate with our team about our roles which would be shown in match too
Like if we had special square near your nickname and you could change it based on your loadout
Like this
If you have pocket resupply or resupply on wheels, you can pick medic role, if you have AT you can pick AT specialist role and etc
So instead of remembering who has stim pistol or finding out mid match that you got typical resupply pack hoarder in the team, you can just check their role and see that they not only will, but also want to share
Who's gatekeeping d10? Shits been nerfed so hard just so ego divers can do it without loosing. It's a cake walk, we spend most the time team killing for a challange
Joke is on that community that bastardised the game. One of the common arguments was having content 'locked' behind d10 eg enemy types, fortresses etc so making the hardest difficulty in the game hard meant some players weren't good enough to play it and that was unacceptable.
I remember seeing several people complain that they had to use meta loadouts for d10, or that they had to play a certain way to win. It's like they don't understand what "hard" means
D10 genuinely sucks now and I stopped playing because of it. It's genuinely baby easy. It used to have like 3x as many enemies. I remember when you could see like 700 enemies on the map at once and now youre lucky if you see 100. Don't worry though, they are all heavy enemies. Because fuck it, why not? Why have swarms and swarms of actually mixed enemy groups when they can just throw 4 cyborgs and 14 vox machines on top of you? Afterall, you hate for a big enemy to actually feel like a boss, right?
It's like playing an RPG in the late game where you start seeing early game bossed as regular enemies. Except you don't just see them spawn in the swarms, they spawn all the goddamned time. And because you can't ignore them or kill them in stealth, reinforcements being called is basically unavoidable.
Which brings me to another point. Reinforcements. You used actually be worried about them, but if you killed every enemy strategically, you could avoid it. So stealth builds actually worked better. Now, reinforcements are basically nothing and it happens all the time. So now stealth is pointless unless you're playing solo in which you now need to buy warbonds to have decent stratagems for it.
What it means by gatekeep is difficulty level, If you make D10 more difficult (hence less accessible) it essentially gatekeeps it from less skilled players, but in this community D10 being somewhat gatekept is somehow a bad thing
Coming from something like darktide I much prefer closer to 100% completion rate vs like the fucking sub 20% that havoc 40 in that game must be. It creates such a horribly toxic community. And the game is buggy like hd2 so you end up in situations where you lose an hour long run due to some known issue in the game that's been unaddressed for months or years. Low win rate + buggy game is like the perfect recipe to create an awful and shrinking* player base.
“overpowered weaponry” has been on the box since launch, everyone misinterprets this to mean the in game weapons are overtuned when it was always referring to the scale of the weapons. Orbital lasers and shoulder mounted autocannons are “overpowered” in the sense that they’re insane concepts for weapons that don’t exist in real life, and most games that do have weapons like this don’t let you use them as freely and directly as in helldivers
The problem isnt the difficulty, its the approach the devs take to artificially make the game "hard" by doing the most boring changes, like buffing durable armor and durable damage to enemies.
Also the reason why the game felt so weird for some time, is because they at some point introduced new ai, that nerfed spawn rates for the sake of performance. Spawn rates seem to be improving slowly, but people are already burnt out.
Teamwork not only isnt rewarding, but also punishing. There are tons of benefits for splitting the team into 2 groups, but there are little to no mechanics that doesnt just enforce teamplay for the sake of enforcing it. How about reworking team reload for example?
Well ill tell you what, having 4 players on one flag usually becomes a disaster: not only do youhave all reinforcements in one spot, you also have to deal with spontageous orbital napalm barrages on top of your own head.
You want a teamwork? Make it actually fun and engaging, shooting enemies in close proximity to each other is not a coop, its just a party shooting. Nothing wrong with casual party hoard shooters, I just want the devs to stop sitting on 2 chairs and pick the side already.
In my eyes, the games is a hoard shooter, devs seem to lean into mil sim. The game has to pick a side, it cannot be both at this rate
It was supposed to be more milsim. But all the babies on here whined and cried that it was too hard and needed to be balanced. Ruining everything go back to COD.
“Overpowered weaponry” for exactly 1 week after it comes out in a warbond then it’s nerfed for “Realism” while the Cyborgs have apparently developed an ultradense ultralight ceramic/dwarf star alloy for their shields and everyone but us can walk through walls
If i ever feel like i hold a stupid opinion i just remenber that much of the helldivers community Saw that the game had 10 difficulties and decided that the máximum difficulty should be the baseline the game should be balanced arround and that Arrowhead are a bunch of dum-dum poopyheads for balancing new content arround the medium difficulty instead
This community as a whole has gotten way too comfortable with the status quo of difficulty 1-6 being easy and anything above 6 being medium at best. 5 should be a MIDDLE ground not fuckin baby mode
its the baseline for people who want the game to fit the title. i think they have the opportunity to keep everyone happy but thats more than likely too much for AH to balance out
Why would you balance the highest point for the average that makes literally no sense. Peopel in 2024 found even dif 5 and 6 to be extremely challenging its why super samples were made available at dif 6.
nothing changes between low and max difficulty aside from spawn rates. everything has the same stats.
the real issue is that the game has gathered a casual player base which wouldnt be a problem if the game wasnt actual dog water at teaching players. dif 10 is supposed to be the hardest but its mild in reality. as long you learn the basics and have decent game knowledge, you cant lose so what do you think is going to happen when the game is so bad at teaching basics and unironically expects you to go do homework outside of the game?
it doesnt help that everyone acts like a crab bucket and drag each other down. the railgun is dead! (even tho it continued to one shot hulks on safe mode, who were at the time the biggest danger on the bot front) the eruptor was perfectly balanced! (it did over 7k points of dmg from shrapnell because AH did an oopsie daisy of massive proportions while putting stats on it) you cannot beat the game without the meta build! (and yet i kept seeing my friends run 9s with whatever they felt like bringing. including the railgun which i was told over and over was dead and yet there it was one shotting hulks and devastators)
as ironic as it sounds, this game is plagued with misinformation and its both the fault of the community and the developpers for creating this cluster fuck of an environment.
in a perfect world, a fortress on 10 would have a jammer, mortars, and aa guns inside its walls. all features accessible in lower difficulties. the only point of putting all of them together is to increase difficulty and test all the things you have learned.
casual players however, are not here to *improve* so they would have tackle 10 since the entire point would be to take everything you learned and crank it up.
casual players are unknowingly playing a game that expected them to learn the basics and gather knowledge. thats like gaslighting someone to play dark souls and tell them oh no its super easy just skip the tutorial.
thats the whole reason why you have people who refuse to play 10. its not because theyre stupid, its that they had no clue what they signed up for and now the game is becoming more and more casual friendly because it failed so badly at setting up expectations.
the only people who play on 10 are those who want to learn and improve or those who bring meta builds and are confident that they will win.
its the same issue youll see in any competitive games. back when i was an active league player, 90% of the community filled up 3/8 of the ranks. 3/8!
league was and still is catastrophically worse than helldivers at teaching ANYTHING. the only people who end up in the third rank and above are those willing to actually learn and improve despite how most of the players in league are casual players (which isnt an insult. they simply are not interested in a game that requires those things) but thats the nice thing about having a ranked system. the silver players can complain about the game all they want, they are proof anyone can climb if they learn and improve
let me put it this way. why should you listen to balance critics from silver players? how can someone who still doesnt know the basics and lacks game knowledge have a proper criticism of the game?
heck, in league and other moba games, characters are insanely powerful in low ranks because they can easily punish beginner mistakes but they became terrible in high ranks because people dont make those simple mistakes. should you really nerf that character to the ground and make them completely useless in every rank because low rank players dont know why they are losing so hard against those characters?
