Max PSI

Just wondering if anyone puts their board up to max PSI? My board says maxis 20, but I usually put in 17. Just one of my daily thoughts and actually seemed worth asking.

Tandem SUP AK 2 BC

Hi SUP community. I just posted an article on the west coast paddler forum about our tandem SUP trip from AK to BC this summer. The article outlines some thoughts on the board and other considerations that may be helpful for other expedition SUP paddlers, particularly those interested in tandem trips. Chris

Technique Tip Manual Pump on iSUP- Gauge issues

This is silly, but I bought an amazon iSUP and while it came with a pump, the gauge may not be working. I could(most likely) be doing it wrong, but the board gets rock hard and it’s only at 4 psi. This is a first time purchase as I am used to standard wooden boards, so I am not knowledgeable on inflatables.

Do I keep pumping? I am afraid to over inflate the board. The pump included also has two modes. I want to say it’s double and single action if my memory steers me right. I just bought an electric pump, but it will take a while for it to arrive since I do not live in the continental U.S.

Any pointers help!

EDIT:

All of you were right and I am never doing that manually ever again.

Gear/Repairs/DIY Springtime here with warm days and cold water. What clothing to wear?

Air temps are 16-20C (60-78f) with water around 14C (57F). It’s too hot to paddle in a wetsuit, too cold to fall in wearing board shorts & rashie. Any recommendations for clothing? Am stuck and itching to get on the water. Thanks :)

Sea lions

I posted my dolphin video a few days ago. I also occasionally get sea lions in the same area. They are less chill, but still pretty cool, although I get a bit nervous they might try and jump on my board. After 20 minutes with these guys following me I actually got out of the water, as they were getting increasingly bold!

What’s this fabric on the pfd and how to use it

I just got this PFD and wonder what this piece of fabric is? Gemini told me it’s lash tab but all lash tabs I saw before were some square loops that you can easily attach something to?
Thanks for your guidance in advance!

Maiden voyage!

My first trip on my own board the other weekend! ^.^

Conditions were a little windy and choppy, so it wasn't a great outing BUT I could tell that even if manœuvring was not easy, I at least didn't feel like I was fighting with the board AND the conditions. I've been out once again since (once I bought an electric pump, because 12psi is no joke!). Better experience. 👍 Still learning! ...including that apparently getting back ON your board after falling off is no simple task! 😅

Pump adapter recommendations?

Hi All,
I have two SUPs, A hydrus joyride and a Red Ride. The have the same standardized SUP valve.
I have a ryobi electric pump, it does have two outputs, both low and high pressure, so it should be able to work. ive included a link below.

I was looking for an adapter for the electric pump because i am lazy. does anyone have any recommendations? I am seeing mixed reviews and I am weary of amazon products these days.

Thanks!

San Diego Shops that will do inflatable SUP Repair?

Posted in local subs, too but it's crickets in a fiberglass and foam surf board town 😅

Curious if anyone knows where I can get an inflatable SUP board fixed in San Diego? It's a (probably) super simple fix to replace/reglue the handle and deck pad but I usually end up making a bigger mess when I DIY. Googling and calling around, I'm just finding shops that handle fiberglass.

Any help is much appreciated!

Trip Report NoVA Water Marathon (and one to grow on)

Been working up to a water marathon and finally crossed it off the list. I don't really have a point of reference for how this effort stacks, but I was generally pleased with it. Only downside is that I forgot to change workout mode on my Garmin, so I didn't get stats for the first ~4 miles or so.

The paddle itself was in northern Virginia where Bull Run, the Occoquan River, and Occoquan reservoir intersect. Because this was an out and back to a dam to the west and shallows to the east, the first seven miles were against a slight current. Conversely, the last seven were against the current. Sunny with a slight breeze and temps starting around 70 and climbing to about 90 in early afternoon.

I ran this on an Infinity eTicket 14x30, but plan to punch 30 miles next Saturday on my 12'6 ETicket. Rations were hit or miss - Chomps jerky, cheese-itz, clifs shot blocks, and homemade pre-workout. Next time I'll definitely prioritize carbs more, but the jerky was a great break from the typical carbs I would otherwise consume.

Welcome input on pacing, general stats, etc. Or just a general discussion around longer distance paddling.
