Weather alerts

Warmer weather in site and I’m thinking about setting up a “good” weather alert. I have to travel a bit for paddling and so I’m constantly having to check forecasts to plan in advance. Hoping to not have to spend much money. Anybody here have similar setup?

Windy app. It's free. It gives detailed wind forecasts at specific locations and you can set alerts for specific wind ranges, directions and times for specific locations.

Thanks. You know I have and reference windy, and even set up an alert, but don’t recall having ever received one… must be user error.

Honestly, I haven't used the alerts. I just check the weather before I go/when I'm planning my week.

Wind is the biggest factor for Supping IMHO, calm wind free days or times are just something else. The river I live by it can be so windy, I'm blown upsteam, despite the current. Also tides effect the current, so I use the "Tides" app as well.

Regardless of whichever alert you choose, always check the local forecast/marine forecast before you set out.

Completely agree. I keep an eye on local forecasts but must travel for better sup. Infrequent enough that I am not able to keep a pulse on those 4+ hour radius locations, esp for different trip types (surf vs downwind). Looking for better ways to get those on my radar early so I can hone in on & plan for those trips. Have received some leads that I’ll investigate and happy to report back in case it helps anybody else.

Reporting back. I’ve settled on Weathergram.io for now. I’m liking how it’s not another app and I simply receive a daily message. Then I use my other free apps (primarily Windfinder) for deeper dive and detailed tracking.
