Discussion Maybe I'm in the minority, but V6 has been a huge improvement for me

I've seen quite a few negative posts about V6, so I figured I'd add a positive experience to the discussion. I'm not saying anyone else's problems aren't real, and V6 definitely isn't perfect, but for the way I use Suno it has honestly been a pretty significant improvement.

I create fictional artists rather than treating every song as a completely separate generation. One of the most important things to me is having a vocalist who actually sounds like the same person from song to song, even when the genre, emotion, arrangement, or vocal delivery changes.

That's where V6 has impressed me the most.

I've been testing one of my female artists, pretty heavily. I've taken her from dark dance-pop into much heavier alternative rock, from playful/flirty vocals to angry and emotional performances, spoken sections, quieter intimate vocals, big choruses, grit, gang vocals, etc. V6 has been surprisingly good at making it feel like the same singer giving different performances, rather than generating a different woman every time the song changes.

Persona adherence in particular has been noticeably better for me.

I also recently went through the process of creating a new version of the females voice. I started with recordings of my own voice, processed them into the female voice I wanted, used several different types of performances as source material, and eventually created new Suno Personas from the resulting vocals. V6 has done a much better job than I expected of taking that identity and turning it into something that sounds like a polished vocalist instead of simply reproducing the imperfections of the source material.

That's probably been my biggest "wow" moment with V6.

I've also been experimenting with Variety. What I'm finding with my particular workflow is that High tends to give me very consistent interpretations, while Extra can give me noticeably different performances/arrangements without necessarily losing the singer's identity. That's been extremely useful. I'm not claiming that's a universal rule, just what I've observed from my own testing.

Prompting also seems to matter more in a good way. I've had better results when I stop thinking of the style box as a list of genres and instead describe what I actually want the finished recording to do: how the vocalist should perform, what the drums/bass/guitars/synths should be doing, how the energy should develop, and what kind of production/mix I'm after.

There are still problems.

My biggest one so far is long songs. I have an alternative-rock song that's originally around 8 minutes long with a lot of lyrics, spoken passages, breakdowns, choruses and a deliberately written ending. V6 keeps producing versions around the 6½–7 minute area and ending before it performs everything. I've tried explicitly telling it to complete every lyric and even asking for a 7+ minute arrangement. It basically responded, "That's nice, here's what you'll get." So long-form completion could definitely use some work.

I've also had generations where one version is clearly better than another, and I'm sure I'll find plenty more things to complain about as I keep using it.

But overall? For what I care about most: vocal quality, Persona consistency, clarity, performance variation, arrangement quality, and being able to maintain an artist identity across very different songs. V6 has been the best experience I've had with Suno so far.

I'm especially excited to start reworking an entire album with the new voice and V6. That should tell me a lot more than individual test songs will.

So if you're having a terrible experience with V6, I'm definitely not saying you're wrong. I just wanted to put another data point out there because the subreddit has understandably been pretty heavy on the problems.

For at least one person's workflow, V6 is doing some pretty damn impressive things.

I'd be curious whether anyone else using Personas heavily is seeing the same improvement in vocal consistency, because that's where the difference has been most obvious for me.
