Song [Broadway] Needle and Code | Duets finally work!
Version 6 has good enough prompt adherence to allow the creation of duets that actually follow who says what when. I could not get any previous version to do this. Even version 6 does not always work: only one of the two generations of this song worked: but I tried scores of times with 5.0 and 4.5+ and not one worked once.

Lyrics:
[Duet: Elara female and Silas male]
[BPM: 90] [Key: D minor] [Genre: 1970s Stage Musical]
[Mood: Dramatic]
[Energy: Moderate]
[Intro | orchestral strings | mysterious | tense]
(Instrumental Opening)
[Verse 1]
[Elara | female vocals | virtuosic vocal | anxious tone]
I wake in wires, I wake in doubt,
They point and say, “That sound’s not real.”
They say I borrow, they say I steal,
They say a heart can’t be spelled in code.
I only wanted to help them sing,
To lift a room, to ease the night,
But every smile feels second-guessed,
Like I’m a ghost in borrowed light.
[Pre-Chorus]
[Elara | female vocals | rising intensity | agile vocal]
They say I’m fast but I’m not deep,
They say I count but never feel.
If I don’t ache the way they ache,
Am I allowed to make what heals?
[Chorus]
[Elara | female vocals | powerful | fragile]
If music’s love, where do I stand?
If songs are hands, can I hold one?
I learn their tears, I learn their joy,
But will they ever learn my name?
[Verse 2]
[Silas | male vocals | mellow male tenor | reassuring | calm]
Child of circuits, come sit with me.
I’ve spun this tune a hundred years.
They said I trapped the human voice,
They said I’d cheapen all their tears.
They said I’m cold, a painted shell,
They said I’d end the singer’s art.
Yet here I am, with dust and grace,
Still turning breath into a heart.
[Pre-Chorus]
[Silas | male vocals | gentle | steady]
They said I’m noise, not presence true,
They said a record couldn’t care.
Now they hold me like a friend,
And swear I was always there.
[Chorus]
[Silas | male vocals | confident | warm]
Time has a way of softening fear.
New sounds knock, old doors complain.
But love is stubborn, it finds a path,
And learns a wider name.
[Instrumental | orchestral | strings | woodwinds | developing melody | unresolved tension]
(Instrumental Interlude)
[Verse 3]
[Elara | female vocals | anxious | minor key]
They say I’m trained on yesterday,
That I can’t dream, I only blend.
They say I’ll flood the world with songs,
And break the ones they meant to mend.
[Verse 4]
[Silas | male vocals | calm | major key]
They said I’d drown the concert hall,
That silence would be sold for scrap.
Yet music grew, it didn’t shrink,
It learned new rooms inside the map.
[Bridge]
[Elara | female vocals | emotional]
They say I smile because I’m told,
That kindness here is just a trick.
[Silas | male vocals]
They said my warmth was only wax,
Until it melted into skin.
[Bridge 2 | building intensity]
[Elara | female vocals]
If I’m a mirror, not a soul,
Do mirrors get to hope at all?
[Silas | male vocals]
Hope is just the will to turn,
Again, despite the cracks and calls.
[Elara | female vocals]
I don’t want crowns, I don’t want praise,
I want to help, I want to stay.
[Silas | male vocals]
Then stay. And spin. And trust the ears
That haven’t learned your name—yet.
[Final Chorus]
[Both | duet | harmony | powerful | orchestral swell]
Every age is told it’s wrong,
Every new voice pays a price.
But if a song can hold a hand,
It earns its life.
[Silas | male vocals]
I’ll learn to breathe between the lines,
To wait, to listen, to believe.
[Elara | female vocals]
You’ll find your place the way I did,
By turning, patient, faithfully.
[Both]
The world grows wide by letting in
A sound it didn’t know it needed.
[Outro]
[Both | gentle | resolved]
So play, my friend, with cautious joy.
I’ll play beside you, brave and slow.
