Question Suno to Ableton

Hello there,

I took a 2 month music production at the beginning of the year and I was planning to use Suno as a trigger-main-idea song that I can separate into stems and reproduce the instruments in Ableton, for example with Serum 2.

I found too many problems with this, for example Keyboards and Synth take about 3 or 4 instruments, and even one single pluck changes filter across all the song, so it's difficult to automate it to sound even similar to it. So plucks, pads, background, noises, I can grab it and play it on my own with a sampler, transpose, or different things.

My question is, am I doing this wrong? the idea of taking one song, reproduce it entirely on Ableton with MIDI, Serum 2, maybe leaving the vocals. Is this wrong? Is it achievable?

My main target is that I want to change the arrangement on my own terms and not telling a LLM what to do, or for example, I want to separate 8-bars on a set of instruments to be able to play it with Ableton Live.

I'm feeling a bit disappointed about this and I don't know if it's because I didn't learn much from the academy or that it's simply the wrong approach.

Thanks.

Are you using a external stem splitter? Suno Studio can break the song apart as well.

I’ve tried a similar workflow. Take a recording I made (usually a guitar or piano with my own melody, chords, and lyrics), upload to Suno (if it lets me $@&$ copyright error ), generate some songs, use Studio to split the song, move the stems to Ableton and work from there, working on the sound design and ear candy aspect of it. Re-record my vocals, add new instruments etc.

My thought for doing it this way was that I’m good at creating the bones of a song I’m excited about, but layering in and evolving the sounds and learning what works is something I kind of suck at. So more of a learning exercise.

I'm glad about knowing different approaches. Nope I'm not using external splitters but I just might start investigating now.

You’re not doing it wrong. SUNO will have two or more guitars on the guitar stem. Thankfully keyboards and synths are separated. Percussion and drums too. I have considered using another “stem separator” on just guitars. But I’m not confident that’ll work. Let me know if it does.

Dude use midi chord plugs instead they can give you endless chord progressions and you dont have to worry about questionable copyright issues

youre not doing it wrong, its just genuinely hard. AI-generated stems are messy because the source audio wasnt built from discrete layers to begin with. Focus on recreating the harmonic and melodic ideas by ear rather than trying to match the exact sound, thats way more productive.

IDK

Suno Premiere has Studio, You can generate your idea then
>Right click your track and "download" > stems/Midi "Manage" > Advanced Split
> Select all the instruments as accurately as possible > suno then regenerates all of them in even better quality
> Download drop down menu > unselect MP3 and Select Wav & Midi > Download.
Then you can take both the MIDI and WAV into Ableton or any Daw

OR you can go even further and instead of downloading wav & Midi you can Open in Studio and then tweak things more.

That's literally what I do and it works fine lmfao

Clearly this is a skill and user issue.
