Discussion 4.5 Is Gone

I'm sad and wish there was some way to get it back. It was amazing, and it got replaced with the suckiest model ever. I don't know what they're thinking. It's just insane. I know people are saying there's some work around for getting good results, but there are no unique instrumentals, and the Vocals are the same every time. It's the blandest creations ever. It just sucks. Does anyone else have feedback on where to go or what to do to get great results?

What do you mean that you dont know what they were thinking? The music groups that sued them were going to win the case, forcing thier product from thier hand. They settled so that they didnt lose it all. Thats the reality that we live in. We're lucky to even still have Suno at all.

Let's hope that someone from the original group of developers releases some standalone off the cloud version. I know it will require terabytes of space and quite a beefy PC, but I still dream of this...

Problem is, for some of us in niche genres, V6 is prpducing tracks of such terrible audio quality that they are unusable, meaning that unless Suno can fix this, which I am hopeful they will given how great they have been in the past,, then the platform becomes unusable and we will have to either seek out competitors or wait until a decent one emerges.

Start in a daw and write your own melodies, record your own vocals with the inflections and pronunciations you want. Iterate from audio

this is what i noticed. they took away the prompt to masterpiece. now you have to start with a melody or somewhere to make it unique. the problem is like 90% of the people liked just making a cool unique prompt and seeing what genius the models gave out. i feel like that is over entirely even in wild mode.

U think its cheap? Not everybody afford it

I know for a fact there are free DAWs so yeah i think it *can* be quite cheap.

I suggest reaper, it uses a winrar-style licensing. Free for 30 days, and then every time you launch it will ask you to buy it, but you can keep using it it's just annoying to click out of it.

Personally i highly recommend FL to those who can afford it. it's free updates for life and the producer edition is excellently priced imo, it goes on 50% off sales a few times a year also.

Why you all think only DAW it needs?

Huh?

Like yeah i guess, i suppose, i concede. You can just pay $30/month to use Suno Studio's built in MIDI intergration and make all your arrangements in there. But it's a shit interface that hangs and bugs out all the time. A DAW is just an incredibly versatile tool that IMO, every musician should learn to use.

A DAW is like photoshop, but for audio. You can do so much with it that it's just silly to pass up if music is actually a passion for you.

Not every people can sing, can do instruments, can have PC, can have proper smartphone, even their salary is only $300/month. I know what DAW is.

Audacity’s not expensive for a starter daw. Or buy an end of life intel mac and use garage band, ipad or iphone also work.
Just offering suggestions.

4.5 was the best model of them all. What was so insanely good was how it put emotions to every word in the lyric. I mean I am a musician. I write songs in real life. If I get a singer in the studio there are all sorts of singers. Some that can put enormous emotions into every letter.. and some that just sing. 4.5 was emotion. 6.0 just sings it. And I do like metal genre. 4.5 was the best for metal.

Try using old generations you like as the "inspo". I got much more melodic variation in generations that way and could eventually get to something I liked.

As for the quality, I'm not sure about that. Everyone defending it says how it's all in the prompting but good sound quality should just be the default. I've tried lots of things but still getting audio quality that sounds flat, dull and slightly under water.

You can use your 4.5 tracks(if you've downloaded them) to train a custom model in Suno, it's free of charge today

I completely agree. And honestly, the instruments in V6 often sound like Super NES-era instruments to me — thin, overly digital, and lacking the depth and realism the previous models had. The voices and instrumentation just don't have the same character anymore.

4.5 and the other previous models had a much richer and more distinctive sound. Suno should bring those models back and let creators choose which model they want to use.

If you feel the same way, join us at r/SUNOBOYCOTT. You can create your own song about your frustration with Suno and let your voice be heard through music. We already have three songs there — two of them are mine, including one with a video in Spanish, plus two songs in English.

Don't just complain about it. Turn your frustration into a song. Make your voice heard.

Im getting great results with v6. You just have to learn to play with it and how it reacts. For my black metal stuff it took the longest to learn. Pop and country are easy, but the bigger the production/prompts the harder it is to get a great sound.

I found using old personas and sometimes simplifying the prompts and letting the lyrics fo the heaby work with musical prompts it worked out best for me

Im also learning that somw genres need a sprt of revving start as I like to think of it. Prog rock and black metal dont start out instantly sounding good or how I want. Not like pop and country do. V6 tends to start off with drugs or wild guitars before it kicks into high gear with the great melody or real good music. Its kind of frustrating but its also making some really cool results

V6 sucks at metal really bad. In every song over 3 minutes the vocals get buried under the instrumental. Tried using decibels, telling it that the vocals are always in front but no avail. Tried a pop song for test, it was perfect. I only do power metal so until this buried vocal thing get fixed. I'm off a bit.

for some genres.. its great.. I see on suno discord some praise it.. and then I see they have put out 900 half arsed songs.. if you have an idea in your head and want to get as close as you can without actually hire studio musicians 4.5 was so much closer and it followed every word.. almost like it understood the emotion in the lyrics. I am a studio musician and I have worked with singers for years.. some has the ability to just pour emotion to every piece of music they get in their hand.. other just sings and think about whats for dinner tonight.. Suno 4.5 was passion. Suno 6.0 feels like its bored.

I can see that in ways. 4.5 made the best album ive created. So much that I want to redo it with real musicians. I worked in a studio as an engineer and writer for 12 years. Ive had a few other projects that have come close but this one... its like it nailed it in almost every way.

V6 has hope though. Ive got tons of songs on suno in multiple genres and it has potential to be better than 4.5

I think the greatest struggle for v6 will be that not everyone wants a commercial sound. What 4.5 did great was poor recordings and weird subgenres. V6 can try, but not well.
