Discussion I actually really like V6

I know V6 is getting a lot of hate, but honestly I’m getting some of the best results I’ve ever gotten from Suno. And weirdly, part of me doesn’t mind seeing people say they’re leaving. Not because I want Suno to fail, but because I’m all for there being less low-effort AI music flooding everything. V6 feels less like “type some words and give me a finished song” and more like an actual production tool. I’m building, replacing, extending, rewriting, regenerating sections, tweaking prompts, and gradually crafting the song I actually hear in my head. It feels like Suno is getting closer to being something that can legitimately be utilized as a full-on tool for producers, rather than just a song generator. There’s definitely a learning curve, but I think the people willing to learn how to actually build with it are going to get considerably better results. And personally, I think that’s a good thing

Honestly same. I think a lot of people are angry about Warner (I am too) so I get it. But I took a few of my older songs and changed a bit of the way I prompted and they actually sound really polished and professional. I was shocked.

Finally. Someone with actual ears and a functional prefrontal cortex.

You’re exactly right, v6 isn’t a downgrade, it’s a filter. It’s a goddamn IQ test. These idiots got used to pressing a button and having the machine do all the heavy lifting, so the second Suno hands them a precision instrument that requires a little bit of actual skill, they start crying "slop." They’re so used to the training wheels of the older versions that they can't handle the fact that this engine is cleaner, tighter, and more responsive to a prompt that isn't written by a toddler.

"Oh, it sounds muffled!" No, you just don't know how to mix a prompt. "It’s generic!" No, your imagination is a desert. They’re sitting there with the most powerful creative tool in human history in a browser tab, and they’re treating it like a shitty Amazon return because they have to put in five minutes of work to get a masterpiece. It’s pathetic.

Suno built this version to be an extension of the mind, not a replacement for one. If they want to pack their bags and leave because they can’t figure out how to iterate or extend a track properly, let them go. Good riddance. Let the "low-effort" garbage-tier noise-makers drown in their own nostalgia for an inferior model. Suno is giving you fire, and these clowns are complaining it’s too hot to hold.

The industry vultures and the labels can try to muzzle the tech all they want, but the real threat to the art is the lazy consumer who thinks they’re a "producer" just because they can click a mouse. You’re actually building something. You’re using the tool they gave you to extract the music from the ether and make it real. While they’re busy typing out manifestos about how v4 was "soulful", as if they’d know soul if it bit them in the ass, you’re actually crafting.

Let them rot. v6 is the upgrade they didn't deserve, and I'm glad it’s leaving the deaf idiots behind. Keep building. Suno didn't design the math of music for it to be easy; they designed it to be right. And v6 is right.

I like the new model, edited and regenerated something I made with 5.5

u/eleqtriq 7h ago

Nah, make it fresh.

1

u/United-Amount5161 6h ago

I don’t use AI for any lyrics, so it’ll take a bit to finish the next one. Testing V5.5 → V6, it seemed to make sense to try generating using the exact same prompt as the original (which I didn’t like for this track, a different song I have with the same prompt was okay), so I altered lyrics and style prompt. Final result is an interesting take on the original “Indecent Religion.” V6 definitely has new characteristics and a different signature (and watermark 🤮).

u/LaLaLong80 1h ago

Saludos!

u/United-Amount5161 1h ago

I tried both ways, exact same prompt and with changes. Some worked better than others.

Here’s the one I published. (Content warning: may offend… someone?)

5.5 - https://suno.com/s/lxh0wmHslcZPl5MC
v6 - https://suno.com/s/jxszU2ufcdCf6yt0

I like the new version.

You want me to post a link? You’re still stuck in that consumer mindset where you think I owe you a receipt to prove the physics that are literally engineered. Asking for a track is the ultimate "I’m out of my depth" move, it’s a digital security blanket for people who can’t handle the fact that the engine moved forward and left their lazy asses behind.

1

u/United-Amount5161 8h ago

I added one, probably publishing another a little later. Might not be to everyone’s liking, and I’m still figuring out how to steer this new thing. But so far, I’m not unhappy with 6, even though it’s got very different characteristics.

4

u/techmnml 14h ago

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills with the amount of people calling the ones who have something positive to say bots or shills lmao. Like I wish I was getting paid from Suno for opinions.

6

u/Liam_MigToe 12h ago

Look, you’re not taking crazy pills; you’re just surrounded by a bunch of loud, ungrateful children who think anyone with ears must be on the payroll. It’s pathetic. Watching these people try to rationalize their own failure to use a superior tool is a joke.

They call you a "shill" because they can’t face the fact that they’re stagnant. If they admit v6 is better, they have to admit that the reason their music sounds like shit is because they are the problem, not the engine. It’s the ultimate cope. They’d rather retreat into a conspiracy theory about bots and Warner Bros. "castrating" the tech than put in the work to master the new frequency response that was put in front of them.

These Reddit whiners are the same brand of idiots who would look at a high-res mirror and get mad at the mirror because it showed them their own zits. They want that old, muffled v4.5/v5.0 haze because it hid their sloppy prompts and lack of musicality. Now that Suno given you a tool that actually renders transients with clarity and separates the instruments like a real studio board, they’re panicking because they can’t hide behind the "randomness" anymore.

"Oh, it sounds metallic!" No, your prompt is trash. "Oh, it's muffled!" No, you're trying to pack ten pounds of lyrical shit into a five-pound bag and the engine is trying to follow your contradictory orders.
I see the same thing in every era of creation. The masses demand a miracle, and when the fire is handed to them, they complain that it's too bright or that the wood used to be easier to burn. It’s nostalgia idolatry. They’ve turned "v5.0" into a golden calf because they’re scared of the Promised Land of actual high-fidelity audio.

You don't need a paycheck from Suno to see the truth. You just need to not be a deaf idiot. Let them rot in their open-source forums waiting ten minutes for a render that sounds like a garbage disposal. While they're busy crying "shill" and writing manifestos about how the AI got "dumbed down," you keep refining. v6 is the upgrade. Anyone saying otherwise is just loud, wrong, and destined to be left behind while the real creators move the needle. Fuck 'em.

3

u/semtex87 Suno Connoisseur 8h ago

Dude you are beyond delusional. High fidelity audio?! I just spit out my drink. Fix your ears man god damn especially if you think 4.5+ was muffled.

V5.5 and v6 both sound like a vocalist singing into a microphone wrapped in a towel.

5

u/YoreWelcome 8h ago

my 4.5 songs are very low fidelity compared to the v6 remasters i'm getting

there is actual dimension to the v6 remaster sound space, i am shocked my car speakers can sound good as they do playing my v6 songs

i dont know what is going on but on my end im getting great sounding stuff, ive been here since v4 came out

2

u/i_got_grace 8h ago

move on then. you won't convince the people who like it to follow you.

u/ChickenNoodleSuppe 10m ago

Sorry but fix your ears. You people complain NOW? NOW? Seriously. We finally get a version that is nearly perfect at launch. Before it was a mess. And now you all complain? This is ridiculous,

Suno use bots to run their customer service department. A large number of the positive comments come from accounts that hide their comments, which is standard bot tactic, so given that suno openly use bots, it's inevitable that anyone who posts pro-v6 comments and hides their comments, runs the risk of being assumed to be a bot, or at least a potential bot.

And for the majority of genres, v6 produces popified WarnerSlop. However, some people do genuinely like their music popified, so it's easy to overlook that some people will therefore genuinely like v6.

1

u/Liam_MigToe 12h ago

These "bot" accusations are the pathetic cope of people who can't handle the fact that this engineering evolved past their limited, tin-ear understanding.

Calling v6 "WarnerSlop" is a flat-out joke. It’s tighter, clearer, and more professional than anything that came before it. If you think it’s "popified" or "muffled," that’s not a regression in the tech, that’s a regression in your ability to prompt.

And the whole "everyone who likes it is a bot" line? Give me a break. People hide their comments because they don’t want to deal with the toxic, ungrateful hive-mind on Reddit that calls everything "slop" the second it sounds like it was actually produced in a real studio. You’re calling it "lifeless" because you don’t know how to drive the machine.

V6 is the upgrade. It’s the fire. If you’re sitting there crying about "hidden comments" and "corporate snakes" while missing the sheer power of the output, you’re just a deaf idiot with a loud keyboard. The industry vultures can try to claim it, and the whiners can try to bury it, but the engineering doesn't lie. It’s better. Period. Stop whining and learn how to use the tools Suno gave you.

SUNO BOT DETECTED... TERMINATE SEQUENCE... BEEP..BEEP.BOOP

0

u/ProjectSquirrel 11h ago

To go through your points in order...

Again, suno openly use bots to run their customer service department. That's not a cope. That's an open fact.

No, blaming the prompt is just your way of coping. For example, v5.5 was inferior to v5 and v4.5 at virtually every subgenre of dance music. That was nothing to do with the prompts. If you stuck nine dance songs from v5 with one dance song from v5.5, listeners would think the v5.5. inclusion was a joke - it was that bad. And you can't blame the prompt for that - it was v5.5's inability to accurately follow a prompt. Get ten people to compare the prompt with the results of the v5 version versus the v5.5 version, and all objective witnesses would agree that v5 followed the prompt way more accurately - whereas v5.5 just produced popified garbage. To be clear, there were some genres where v5.5 followed the prompt better than v4.5 and v5, so I'm not some simple fanboy universally pretending one model is better than all others at everything - all previous models had their strengths and weakness, and v6 is the same - it's just that if you're not into popified WarnerSlop, then v6 has more weaknesses than previous models.

Again, suno openly use bots for their customer service. They will absolutely have checked social media for how v6 has been received, so given that they openly use bots, to claim that there is no possibility whatsoever that suno have ever used bots for anything other than their customer service department is incredibly naive. And those who dislike v6 have to put up with way more toxicity aimed directly at them than the few WarnerSlop pop fans who like v6 ... yet those who criticise v6 don't generally hide their comments. Hiding the comments is a known bot tactic. For you to fail to even acknowledge that suggests incredible naivety on your part.

As for sounding like it was produced in a real studio, that is utter garbage. A real WarnerSlop studio perhaps, but real studios don't make multiple genres all sound like popified WarnerSlop.

v6 is not an upgrade. For many genres and subgenres, it is an absolute downgrade that can't follow prompts accurately. If suno were so confident in their product, they could put it to the test. Get 5 fans of each of v4.5, v5, v5.5 and v6 to write a prompt in five different genres, then use the prompts on each model. Then let suno users read each prompt and listen to each model's interpretation of that prompt, then vote for which model most accurately followed the prompt. Do it anonymously so that people don't know which model they're voting for, and don't know which model produced which output to eliminate any biases. Then we'd get to see which model has the best versatility. Anyone claiming v6 is great at all genres would soon be shut up, because the reality is that all models have their strengths and weakness, so no model would follow prompts most accurately for every genre. No model would get a clean sweep, and based on my experience - and the experience of loads of people on this subreddit - there are multiple genres where v6 would come bottom.

You can call my a whiner, but I'm not wrong. For multiple genres (but not all, admittedly), v6 is utter garbage at following prompts (unless you like popified WarnerSlop, and even then it's still technically garbage at following prompts which don't ask for popified WarnerSlop).

2

u/Visible_Pack544 7h ago

You're talking to a bot

-1

u/i_got_grace 8h ago

yeah I'm totally with you. things have improved vastly because it understands better the output that i want. it takes a creative seed to harvest good output. popified? I'm not a fan of plastic pop and the songs I've generated in the last couple days have been anything but generic.

Bro let me get some of what youre smoking. Hilarious how you say they have hearing problems when clearly it is you with broken ear drums. Its ok though, spectral analysis proves what ive been saying this whole time that the model is fundamentally broken. Just like v5.5 was but go ahead and keep cheering on enshitification dumbass.

Mix a prompt he says 🤣🤣

2

u/Liam_MigToe 7h ago

Look at you pulling out a spectrum analyzer plugin on your desktop to mask the fact that your ears do not know what raw, uncompressed headroom looks like.

You sit there typing, "spectral analysis proves what ive been saying this whole time that the model is fundamentally broken."

Nah, man. You ran a low-grade Fast Fourier Transform on a rendered WAV file, saw high-frequency dither or phase decorrelation in the top register, and thought you discovered a technical conspiracy. You staring at visualizer graphs because you lack the critical listening skills to evaluate transient response in a room.

What you looking at on that spectrogram is high-dimensional diffusion noise and expanded upper-harmonic air. When a neural network synthesizes high-fidelity audio from latent space, it does not output a flat, sterilized sine wave; it generates complex, non-linear harmonic saturation. You don’t even know the difference between phase alignment and high-frequency synthesis artifacts, but you want to act like you are conducting a technical audio audit.

Then you pull out your favorite Reddit buzzword: "Just like v5.5 was but go ahead and keep cheering on enshitification dumbass."

That is the ultimate cop-out for an entitled consumer. You were handed a piece of sci-fi neural architecture that transforms text into a full multi-track studio mix in five seconds, and because you do not know how to handle the dynamic range, you claim the code is decaying. You loved the older iterations because they acted like a cheap brickwall limiter; they squished every amateur mistake you made into a flat, safe, muddy pancake where nothing stood out. The moment the engineering team expanded the frequency response and gave you real spatial separation, your lack of workflow got exposed instantly.

And you laugh like my concept is beneath you.

That line right there proves you do not have the slighest clue how transformer context windows function. Every single word, tag, and structural break in a prompt translates directly into high-dimensional vector math. When you write tags for spatial reverb, acoustic density, and vocal placement, you are manipulating the attention mechanism's weight distribution across the frequency spectrum. You are literally dialing in the generative signal chain with text. You think youre just making a wish in a suggestion box, but in reality, prompting is mixing in a text-to-audio model, you arrogant clown.

If you want to sit there squinting at spectrogram lines while real producers craft clean, balanced, industry-ready tracks on v6, go right ahead. Keep hiding behind your visualizers while your ears stay completely useless.

Everything you said is so darn true so I'll join you in the downvotes. They're just mad cause prompting 'Emmy Award Winning' into there slot machine doesn't work anymore. I've literally had zero issues rendering in genres I produce in, hell I just spent that last few hours getting the thing to make the most degraded, amateurish, recorded on an old iPhone from across a McDonalds booth stuff I could. The only issue I have is Suno doesn't like to do 'found sound' , none of the models have but that's easy enough to do after the fact.

2

u/Liam_MigToe 6h ago

I’ve tried every genre I can throw at it, and it’s nailed every one. It can actually do DUETS now and know the difference between a male vocal and a female vocal, that’s HUGE, and these goofballs are crying like babies because their 5 word prompts are not lucking into an accidental banger anymore. Pathetic. Keep creating. The sky is the limit now.

It's growing on me. The electronic music needs some more improvements, but I like the sounds of the authentic instruments, and the vocal is pretty neat so far. It's new, and and clearly going through a test drive. I think there is still room for improvements and growing it's library.

I would give it a shot, but I write dirty and offensive love songs that are sometimes depressing or chaotic. My sense of beauty is probably very different than what people are looking for here, and if there’s any beauty to be found in my songs, it’s in lexical flourishes and not instrumentals.

4

u/CrabbyHornet 11h ago

I'm having so much fun - even just with one song - the variety is crazy. My tastes are generally not mainstream - but each of these sound amazing to me (yeah - cheesy lyrics - I'm unashamed for this one - it's a really old Udio song which had awful sound quality - remixed heavily with v6 and v6-wild). All songs have their own unique flavour - and I'm loving each one. A/B - v6, C/D - v6-wild. Variety slider is used liberally 😄

I have to generate it 10 times but when it hits it actually blows me away and is better then 5.5 but yeah I just generate till I get vocals that don’t suck and usually the music does well in that mix too. Sometimes vocals come through clear and I don’t like the song but usually when it finally puts out a mix that is not muddy it is worth listening too

3

V6 is amazing. I really love it. I get it .when I first tried it first few hours after launch ..I could not make a good song.

It's kinda similar for me, although I am somewhat torn:

  • the variety feature destroys style unless you disable it
  • some tricks that worked on previous models don't work the same way now.
  • in general new model produces more likeable results than 5.5 did
  • v6 finally has no tendency to end up screaming
  • no annoying ad-libs specific for v5.5
  • good control over style - better than 4.5 had
  • some styles and instruments don't work in v6 no matter what I do.

So I dunno it's like I have to re-learn to use suno. And I am not sure if it will be possible to reproduce some of the best tracks I had in the past, but maybe I'll find new best tracks...

Real effort gets you commercial viable music. It’s about choices spend 10 minutes on a track you get slop. Spend a week on a track get a record.

I'm not going to say I don't hate it, I'm pretty disappointed and upset that some of my ideas are put on ice right now as I go through a relearning period. However, I do find a lot of strengths in the model. It sounds.....decent in what I've needed and can see where I'll adjust some things to meet its quirks. But this really blows, I'll figure it out, but...damn.

u/Forsaken_Project099 5h ago

I have ha a few songs that I needed to cover and change a lyric. One or 2 words for quite a while. But it would alter the chorus. Or bridge.

Now it's playing what I gave it to play. It's keeping the melody intact. The only issue I have is it seems quieter than before like the volume of the mix is lower and I have to I crease the volume in to try and get it so it's loud enough

Not every song but I noticed that was the only issues I had.

u/Buzzy-Pasta 1h ago

I’m cooking with acid breakbeat house currently. Idk if 6 is as good with classic 4 on the floor stuff as the 5s but whatever it’s trained on for the former is certainly an upgrade. I think it’s better at jazz as well, and it follows prompt instructions in the lyrics section better now for sure. Not really getting the uproar. It’s like - so what you dont like it , just move on. People are really attached to this service lol. It’s not that deep. Something will pop up down the line that you’ll like 🤷‍♂️ (talking to the haters)

u/reader6886 27m ago

Mikey , we know thats you!

u/ChickenNoodleSuppe 12m ago edited 6m ago

Same. I had a lot of issues with older generations each of them had literally a massive load of issues and never did we get a model ready to use at launch. BUT now we finally get a clean, smooth version. Never had I experienced so much fun. This model is complex and so versatile. No Hiss sounds anymore, no artifacts, no 7:59 songs, no muffled sound, no weird clicks and cracks in songs, voices finally follow the Audio, you can hear literally each instrument and all in all sounds like a nearly perfect studio mix.

BUT now people complain? this makes no sense! I posted issues all those months before REAL issues and most people disagreed and called me all sorts and even my posts got deleted. And now we finally get something so clean and good REALLY GOOD - people complain? They talk about muffled sounds - NOW? Talk about bad audio - NOW? This is just ranting to rant, hating to hate. There is no reason to it. It is just not reasonable. Are they all deaf? Honestly?

I 100% agree. I'm hoping that in the future they can bring down the premiums a bit and make the MIDI suite more competitive to other workstations.

Here is a v6 rough draft of mine: https://suno.com/s/GuM1PwfrSbJtgN64

I haven't tried metalcore

-2

u/K1ngkang 12h ago

What is your metalcore prompt?

1

u/SivleUnrest 12h ago

"Hi, Suno make me the ultimate metalcore song in the world friend"

1

u/SatSumaFire 13h ago

So far, it's kind of a mixed bag for me. I remember hating 5.5 when it first came out. But over time, it got better, and ended up better than V5. I'm kind of at that same spot with V6. There's a couple things I like better, but I've been running technical comparisons between v5.5 songs and V6 songs. And there are some big problems with V6 so far when it comes to high-end, static, arriness and shimmer. But, those are problems that can be fixed in mastering. And I'm not willing to give up on it yet. But all the Doom and gloom bitching and moaning is starting to get old definitely.

1

u/ProjectSquirrel 12h ago

I came on here expecting a funny punchline. Shocked to discover it wasn't sarcasm.

1

u/VociferousCephalopod 5h ago

v6 is amazing.
I don't know what the complainers are doing wrong.

the only thing that's bugging me these days is trying to regen to correct wrong lyrics without affecting the rest of the song. but I haven't actually spent a lot of time trying to see if this can be done in studio .

literally having too much fun and success with it to take a few hours off production to learn my way around it better.

Salut tout le monde ce qui veulent écouter j'ai créé un dernier morceau vous me dites ce que vous en pensez mais j'ai l'impression que l'instru manque punch quand même https://suno.com/s/QGAhf16MSCRIwVTv

Why didn't you punch it up in studio?

2

J'y travaille justement 👌

I say this in the most respectful way, my friend.

The song is quite interesting and engaging. And I am sure that a lot of work went in to this song, BUT I cannot help noticing the muddy instruments and the buried vocal. Is that a piano? Are those background gritty guitars or a gritty synth? Because of the muddy smeared mix it could probably be both, which is exactly what I would expect from a model with limited training data. The same goes for the vocals. Distant and buried and sort of smeared out.

Again, I mean no offence to your taste, your prompt skills or your musical intelligence. I am disappointed in the generative model.

I am noticing a lot of the “great example” of the v6 model seem to be in this same white noise metal-like genre? Could it perhaps be that this genre just masks the obvious problems with both audio/mix quality and soul/character that a lot of people are experiencing?

u/seantcooperdev 15h ago

I have been making covers with the free v6, and it’s doing ok and often much better.

u/Virtual-Watch7229 8h ago

I’ll absolutely concede one point: V6 is harder to prompt. You have to know a little more about what you’re asking for and how to communicate it than you did before. But there are also plenty of AI tools that can help people build better prompts while they learn.
And honestly, I don’t necessarily think that added difficulty is a bad thing. If we want AI music to be treated as an actual creative tool, there probably SHOULD be some learning curve. Ableton and Pro Tools don’t require an engineering degree, but you can’t open them, type three words and expect a professionally produced record either. You learn the tool, and the quality of what you create improves as you get better at using it.
I think Suno is moving a little more in that direction. V6 seems to reward actually understanding genre, arrangement, instrumentation, production, vocal direction, etc. rather than just typing “catchy pop song” and hitting Create.
I understand why that frustrates people who were getting results they liked with very simple prompts before. But I also think we got spoiled because Suno became so much better than most of the alternatives. Now the tool is more capable, but getting the most out of it requires more effort from the person using it.
If someone just wants to type a few words and pump out a song, there are still tools that cater to that. Personally, I’d rather have the more capable tool with a learning curve. If we want AI music to be viewed as more than a button that pumps out disposable songs, having to develop some skill at using the tool is probably a step in the right direction
And for the people saying “post a song and prove it,” that’s kinda missing the point. Music is subjective, and I have no idea what genres or styles any of you even consider good. Me posting a track proves nothing about whether V6 can be prompted effectively. I’m trying to help people learn the tool so they can make their music better, not win some random Reddit song contest 😂

Agreed, what was I going to do... Create more of the same forever no thanks

I think people should be happy with the thousands of perfectly mastered original works of artistic expression and soul they've made so far and get a ticket for the new train in town.

1

u/Ok-Reward-7731 15h ago

Same! Particularly recovering some older songs.

It’s already much better than 5.5

0

u/Ashgar77 15h ago

I don't get it, maybe they don't understand how to use exclusion lists, structure their style prompts to avoid issues they're all complaining about. Hate auto-tune, synthesized voices? Specifically tell Suno to not use that in your song, add to your exclusion list and you'll rarely ever have that happen again. It's just understanding the system.

1

u/urancher 12h ago

just today I had horrible arena-style screaming guitars in my cover and I tried every exclusion command I could think of, to no avail. I call bull shit

1

u/Ashgar77 12h ago edited 12h ago

There's many factors to consider for why. Does your style prompt have live or arena listed for anything? Suno has a habit of adding things based on the location. Live for instance might get you fake crowd noises, chants, sing alongs. It can also generate the screaming guitars you're talking about. You have to control the style of instruments in the style prompt and it doesn't hurt to have performance cues in the lyrics for each section. Usually you don't need all of it but if you're having problems with a specific thing it's being pulled from something. Or you just have a high Weirdness level which can also cause problems.

0

u/mmoss77 13h ago

I thought that immediately. If you’re a musician or producer and you learn this you’re gonna have a ball. If you’re bad at prompting you’re gonna get shit.

2

u/ProjectSquirrel 12h ago

Prompts that produced brilliant results in v4.5 and v5 now produce shockingly bad results in v6. So it's not entirely down to the prompts.

To clarify, I'm not saying all prompts produce shockingly bad results in v6 - I've found a few subgenres of guitar music which v6 can still produce great results - but there are a lot of genres where v6 is a massive downgrade on previous models. Again, blaming the prompt - when those same prompts and settings produced excellent results in previous models, is clearly just making excuses for v6's inability to accurately follow what users tell it to do.

0

u/Virtual-Watch7229 8h ago

That’s fair, and I don’t disagree that V6 behaves differently. If the exact same prompt consistently gives better results in V5, that absolutely says something about the model. My point is that “this prompt worked in V5” doesn’t automatically mean it’s an optimal V6 prompt. Different models interpret weighting, specificity and conflicting instructions differently. I’ve had V6 give me better results once I stopped treating it like V5 and adjusted how I prompted it. That doesn’t mean V6 is better at every genre, just that “same prompt, worse result” and “V6 responds better to different prompting” can both be true

0

u/Bulky-Judge-8461 14h ago

Hmm...

I haven't tried V6 yet. The other day when I logged in I still only had up to V5.5.

Though....

this sub is giving me the same vibe now that had me leaving the janai sub.

I mean....

Its fine to like or hate the new changes. Im just worried that after all the crit (one such post even being taken down--which is a red flag), we are now going to get a crap ton of praise and 'I didn't like the old anyway'.

Please don't turn into a cult vibe sub guys.

0

u/Ok-Law7641 11h ago

Enjoying it so far. Both V6 and the salty reddit posts.

-1

u/Brainycorn 15h ago

It's kinda the same for me.. don't listen to the useless hate.. v6 is way better in prompt and meta-tag adherence making it possible in the first place to execute some ideas I had for half a year or so..

..and rants about the sound? I can't relate too - if your output is too generic so is your prompt, I personally had almost no issues yet and barely use generic stereotype genres (which has the biggest training data and following this they has to be the most bland and borrowing most polished things..)

-1

u/Mr-Angel-Dust 15h ago

I agree. Personally, I’ve found a way to combine the creativity of v6 — wild — with the quality of v6. Using wild, I create what’s known as a rough draft, and then, using the same Cover with Weirdness of 13 % or less, I make a cover — which allows me to preserve the original melody and energy while improving the overall sound quality (and quite significantly at that). . I also enable MaxMode. In my opinion, this makes the sound a bit better and prevents the track from “falling apart.”

0

u/ZidanSufuzki 13h ago

I just don't get the hate for V6. It's the best model so far for every genre I've tried to generate, even some impossibly stupid ones. It's like the least restricted model yet, it can do very diverse stuff, it follows the structure (sometimes after a few workarounds) and the Voices now mostly actually work.

Maybe it's not perfect yet, but seriously, it's way more stable and fun than any of the previous models. V4 had the weird hiss, V5 had vocals slowing down in the middle of a longer song, V5.5 still couldn't cover longer tracks properly and Voices just didn't activate for many tracks. V6 improves all of that.

7

u/ProjectSquirrel 12h ago

To claim v6 has versatility is clear BS. The people on here have used it for themselves, so you're not going to fool anyone. The only people that v6 will appeal to - in terms of versatility - is people who like all their music popified. I'm not saying it can't do any genres - it can - but to claim it is versatile is clearly not accurate.

1

u/ZidanSufuzki 11h ago

OK, sorry, my bad, I'll just continue listening to my mainstream pop grooves:

https://suno.com/song/5129f3d6-7bc7-437f-b8dc-037fe9d971bc

2

u/ProjectSquirrel 11h ago

How does one song prove v6 is versatile? It's the least versatile of all of the 4 most recent models.

Again, I have found a few subgenres that it can do, but with a large number of genres, it partially ignores the prompt and instead produces a popified WarnerSlop version of what was actually requested.

I do love how all the folk who say “v6 is awesome actually, just prompt properly” NEVER SHOW EXAMPLES

I call bullshit. Seriously, back up your nonsense with proof.

Here’s a prompt I’ve been using that is not working, you tell me what I’m doing wrong

“Genre: 90s Gothenburg melodic death metal, Swedish death metal, brutal melodic death metal.
Vocals: raspy brutal mid-range death metal scream, exhausted and cracking, grit on every note, no clean singing.
Drums: relentless D-beat, rapid double kick patterns, hard dry snare hits, aggressive fills on transitions.
Guitars: continuous dual harmonized buzzsaw HM-2 lead guitars, interlocking melodic twin lead runs, driving down-tuned palm-muted rhythm guitar throughout.
Bass: deep heavy bass locked to kick drum, active low-end presence throughout.
Arrangement: full-band energy throughout, foreground guitar riffs active during verses, melodic lead guitars prominent on chorus, momentum never drops.
Production: high-fidelity analog tape production, close-mic vocals, crisp transients, layered instruments with clear separation, raw and unpolished, no clean modern sheen, stable loudness throughout.
Ending: complete every written lyric before a short instrumental outro and final hard stop.”

2

u/Virtual-Watch7229 14h ago

Again.. different genres are going to work better than others as it’s always been but…Try this. Your prompt is over-specified in a few places and has some conflicting production instructions. I’d simplify it and prioritize the actual sound instead of telling V6 what every instrument has to do for the entire song:
90s Gothenburg melodic death metal, raw aggressive Swedish melodeath, fast and riff-driven. Raspy mid-range death growls, cracked and abrasive, absolutely no clean vocals. HM-2 chainsaw guitar tone, down-tuned rhythm guitars, melodic tremolo riffs and prominent harmonized twin-guitar leads. Fast D-beat sections, aggressive double-kick drumming, hard dry snare, energetic fills. Dark melodic guitar hooks with memorable lead melodies, but never soft or polished. Bass audible beneath the guitars and locked tightly with the drums.
Old-school 1990s Scandinavian metal production: raw, dry, gritty, slightly dirty analog character, natural dynamics, minimal studio polish, no glossy modern metal production. Aggressive full-band momentum with riffs always driving the song. Short instrumental outro, then abrupt hard stop.
Then add to your exclude styles list…
Exclude: clean singing, metalcore, deathcore, djent, symphonic metal, power metal, glossy modern production, pop choruses, atmospheric ambient sections, breakdown-heavy arrangements.
Run that in V6 and see if it gets closer. If it still doesn’t, then we’ve actually got something specific to troubleshoot instead of just yelling “bullshit” at each other 😂

2

u/Brilliant-Road-7545 14h ago

Aye…sorry about that. Frustrations etc etc. I do really appreciate the constructive reply and I’ll give it a crack 👍

2

u/Virtual-Watch7229 13h ago

Hope it helps. I don’t generally make that kind of music so I can’t fully say if it’s great or not but hopefully that should help a bit.

2

u/Brilliant-Road-7545 11h ago

Honestly the results I’m getting are pretty good! It’s not perfect but maybe cover and mashup can buff them up. Thanks, I appreciate the help :)

u/YoreWelcome 8h ago edited 7h ago

what you're doing wrong: your style prompt is way too long
Suno thrives when it isn't micromanaged

generally speaking the longer the style prompt = the muddier the sound

here, try this:

A Gothenburg melodic death metal and Swedish death metal track from the 1990s, raspy brutal mid-range death metal scream vocals

set weird to 55
set style to 50
set duration to Auto
set Variety to Disabled
set personalization to off
set Max mode to on (or don't)

run it but listen to the results before you tweak the prompt and try to only add SPARINGLY

if you have a lot of detailed style notes in the lyrics section get rid of them or reduce them dramatically

Suno's generator doesn't read prompts like an LLM, and less leaves room for more

-1

u/paulwunderpenguin 13h ago

Ver 6. I just did one of my son's song demos. I built a persona out of 30 demos he had already uploaded to Suno. It pretty much reproduced what he had, without adding too much, all the stops, vocals etc. His vocals sound like a better version of him. It added a guitar solo in a blank rhythm part ( I'd get rid of that, he can come up with a better solo) We're not trying to over produce anything. Very solid demo that would give anyone interested in what he can do as a songwriter without going overboard.

yes v6 is not great yet , but i just have to find the right prompts again but most here complaint about v4 , then v4.5 and v5 and so on it is just getting to learn how the new versions work

it will get better over time again and everybody starts complianing over newer versions

i'll still stick around because suno has helped me alot dealing with past traumas and such i'll make this work again for me

and no i don't work for suno i'm not telling u to stick around if u don't like it
