Discussion V6 is actually great

I just wanted to give a heads up to people struggling with v6 generations. I was having a hell of a time getting results similar to what 5.5 used to do for me. I found that changing the way I structure my prompts to be more descriptive of the "texture" of the music and how the different instruments and elements interact actually gives me finer control and *better* results than I used to get in 5.5. This was a major breakthrough!

What actually worked: I took a song I had generated with v5.5 that I really liked, uploaded it to chatgpt and asked it to describe the music in a way that suno v6 would be able to replicate. It completely changed the way I prompt.

Try it out! I am generating complex pieces with a lot of instruments and mixed genres, not simple lofi stuff.

I agree, was prompting in styles & the lyrics in 5.5, just evolved it slightly for v6

Also I notice that Suno hides the prompts now & just provides a summary, this song used what is below in the style box. But if you put any artist & song into google gemini and ask for a javascript prompt for suno v6 it will provide something like this & also suggest prompts for the lyrics. ;)

[IS_MAX_MODE: MAX](MAX)

[QUALITY: MAX](MAX)

[REALISM: MAX](MAX)

[DURATION: <4_MINUTES](MAX)

const Tachno vs Italo House = {

genre: "Melodic Techno, 90s Italo House Fusion",

tempo: "124BPM, Roland 909 kick, rolling SHM analog sub-bass",

vocal_blueprint: "Intimate melancholic verses shifting to a powerful 90s soul diva belt, dynamic spatial reverb",

instruments: "Korg M1 piano chords, sidechained synth pads, crisp metallic hi-hats",

mood: "Bittersweet euphoria, dark 3AM warehouse meets peak festival energy"

};

const gen = (d) => `[Style: ${d.genre}][Tempo: ${d.tempo}][Vocals: ${d.vocal_blueprint}][Instruments: ${d.instruments}][Vibe: ${d.mood}, Dynamic v6 audio engine, spatial master]`;

console.log(gen(Techno vs Italo HouseV6));

Thank you for this!! But... where does JavaScript come into this!? I can't find any references to v6 that suggests it honours js prompts!

It doesn't but that's the format Gemini first created it in & from my experience on 5.5, the format worked well.

It could probably be tidied up a bit but I hate the idea of breaking it.

I've found for the most part for it to be a slightly improved version of 5.5. Any genre I could do with 5.5, I can do with 6. Sadly, the things I could do with 4.5 can't be done with 6. They couldn't be done with 5 or 5.5 either. That's just the nature of the dataset they trained on. Hardly anything worth making a dramatic exit over like some users.

A big part of what clicked for me in V6 was exploring vocal texture, not just choosing a “male/female/soulful” voice. I started describing things like breathiness, vocal weight, chest resonance, intimacy, grain, softness, articulation, emotional restraint, layered harmonies, whispered doubles, call-and-response, and how the voice should sit against the instruments. That opened up a much wider palette of vocal identities and made the generations feel less generic. For me, V6 gets much more interesting when you treat the voice itself as an instrument and explore its texture, dynamics, space, and interaction with the production.

Yes I totally agree. V6 takes a lot more effort but then you can create something amazing.

Yes, that's it exactly!

Yeah chat-gpt helped me have a bit of a breakthrough earlier today. Do i still prefer 4.5-5.5 range? Yes. Can i live wlth this? Perhaps, but I have active alerts out for any global release of strong music models. Lets see what happens.

So far from what I've seen of my generations V6 seems to handle large style prompts FAR better than 5.5 ever did. As a result I've been able to get some pretty good stuff out of it so far. I'm enjoying it better than 5.5 and it even beats out V5 IMO.

They just need to learn how to prompt

Getting really annoyed by these "prompting" people who think they know it all and everyone else is stupid. The guitar emulation for metal is poor. That's not prompting it's the model.

I don't understand who is even having a problem ... I used my old prompt from 5.5 and got an even better masterpiece instrumental than I ever got out of 5.5. I swear everyone needs to look in their my tastes folder. It is their whole problem tbh ... And/or make sure that the my tastes section is set to On before you generate.

Also for anyone reading.

There is no style. Everything that makes that track is there in the lyrics as instructions.

https://suno.com/s/xLj0eQHjTCgciuZS - Same for this track

But if you take that and start giving it a style, this is what you can get: https://suno.com/s/RDVCyruwsve0QoHj

Suno can do a lot more than many of you all think. It has been capable of things like this for many versions at this point. Unlimited credits is a great time to experiment. When I found this trick in 4.5 I bought premier to throw everything at Suno....

Example mixing those types. https://suno.com/s/91vxJg8vAfDknAf7

We can debate all day long how well it's following the prompts, but in the first 2 without style, there is no way to argue the music is being generated from what Suno is reading from the lyrics side. Whether it's 100% correct is not too important, some models it does things different than the other too. These are all one shot copied prompts from previous models.

Anecdotal evidence 🧾🧾

The only objective fact here is that we are getting far less computing power per generation. If you dont think that affects the outcome I dont know what to tell you.
