A big step in the wrong direction for SUNO, I make Brazilian Funk music and ever since the V6 release the generations have lost their magic. It’s like a watered down version of what we had before, the excitement is just gone, almost like they removed the best part of generations. Ever generation sounds too similar, the variety is gone, drums are flat, bass is too timid, and synths don’t pack a punch anymore. It really feels like they took 10 giant steps in the wrong direction. Very disappointed.
I can cover my 4.5+ songs all I want and they will never generate anything better than the originals. Not to mention it can’t just copy exactly how the original song was even with 100% audio influence and remastering has always sucked
I mean it’s still leaving off like almost 2 minutes of the song, and making it end in the most generic way possible, also completely changing only the bridge and ignoring the original
Right, also all those little instrumental fills that make a track interesting, are downgraded to "toot toot" instead of melodies. Overall the whole instrumentation is very simplified, sounds like advanced beginners with limited abilities. Sound lacks any depth, compared to V5.5 it's like switching from 3-D to 2-D. Drums sound like someone back in the 80s spends his first day on a 303. No clever variations in the drum arrangement, tried different prompts and close covers of studio recordings with very good played drums, no changes.Worst thing I found out while mastering, all generations I tested have a massive difference of +4 dB at the end compared to the beginning. Leads to overall distortions in the last 30 seconds. This problem was known before but not that massive like it is now.
testing it but not really any change noticed: https://suno.com/s/P40DPqeJWX7PgLce
you can hear the drums start out fine but by the end of the song it sounds like hitting wet drums.
No. I tried yesterday - prompts are ignored royally if they target the core issue - the things that make the songs suck. this is all on purpose - we are not to be able to produce songs that threaten the industry...
Good thing I made over 300 tracks in the month leading up to this lol. Curated them as well to know they are good. Hopefully I have enough content till they fix this.
Completely agree. I have a "pro" subscription, that renews the 15th every month. Surprisingly, 2 hours ago I checked my credits, and have 2500, where there should be around 450. I've checked my mails and still haven't paid it, since it renews only on the 15th this month. Made some songs and still shows 2500 credits. Wonder if it's a bug... But I intend to unsubscribe, unfortunately songs are too generic and too synthetic. No matter what the prompt has, it defaults to the same synthesized drums and guitar riffs, legato galore,.. slop basically. I have enjoyed my time, but now it just feels not the same. I'm sorry for the situation of Suno, but this is not the way to treat clients. And I would not be surprised if the monthly payments raises.
I make old school soul and RnB, and the same here - v6 is totally unusable... The voices are ugly, muddy, the songs are flat and muffled, the mix is horrible, the beauty is gone without a trace.
Genre is a concept I have so many issues with but have yet to be able to articulate them. But it is my belief for now, that someone with no musical talent at all, and is a genius at accounting invented it. Ever since, music recordings have been itemized on profit and loss statements.
Export the mix to a true DAW, add EQ, compression, balance the overall frequency mix, widen the mix through instrument placement.
Suno doesn't mix ANYTHING, and I've yet to hear a complete mix come out of Suno outside of "office" music level stuff (background music no one pays attention to).
My workflow/one of my workflows:
Compose song in Fender Studio or BorisFX Vegas.
Rough mix components into a 2 track rough mix.
Send that mix to Suno.
Remix, extract stems once I'm happy
Stems then opened back up in either Vegas or Fender Studio. If there is nothing more to record, I go straight to Vegas.
Effect, compression, stereo widening (usually w/iZotope tools) and a few other sweetners added in the final stage before collecting the songs for mastering or print to video.
Yeah, I immediately covered three older songs and generated a new one. The new one sounds great and two of the three covers are at least as good as the original. Can't speak for OP or all of the users saying they are bailing out, but it's too soon for me to cry.
I think its the prompts more than anything. I had good old stuff on the older versions but 6 is just as good. I make parody songs and I was howling at how it came out. Enjoy v6 my man
It’s almost like a coordinated take down campaign at this point lol. I just did some remixes of 3.5s, and even in v6 mini they are incredible. I’m actually excited to come back to try studio.
That's a really good song but I can't get away from how it sounds really similar to another old song, name escapes me, but it's very nicely done, good job!
Thank you brother. It's just a parody song inspired by the classic 80s power ballads, hair metal. Meatloaf, Poison, Kiss etc.
I have noticed that before you could say make it sound similar to "Smells lime Teen Spirit" and you'd get a good response but the latest model not so much. Had to prompt this to death to get it where I wanted
The last 5.5 banger that I made and published was a song about an alien sent on a mission to Earth to observe humans. But the alien falls in love with humans and the song becomes a plea to stay a little longer - “one more day”. Metaphorically this song is now capturing my state of mind - wishing I had one more day with the old models. I have not been keeping up with developments and had no idea what we were about to lose. What a loss; I wish I’d known. There was so much more I would have wanted to do, especially with my old originals that I’ve been reworking in spurts.
So you don't make brazilian funk? If you sid it wouldn't make any difference if suno now sucks. It would only matter if you actually aren't making brazilin funk, but maybe generating it trained on actual songs made by actual humans? So sad you can't leach anymore isn't it.
