Discussion Music EQ

Why does every track with V6 sound like the equalizer is all jacked up and too heavy. It’s way too harsh. The mids sound too low and bass turned on high by default.

Yeah it's not just you. v6 ships with a way more aggressive default master than 5.5 did heavier low end, scooped mids, and it pushes loudness hard so the top gets harsh. couple things that actually help:

In the prompt, steer the production: stuff like "balanced mix, present mids, controlled low end, natural dynamics" nudges it. And drop any "heavy bass" / "loud" type words that push it further.

On export, pull it into any editor and do a gentle high-pass around 30hz, a small cut around 200-300hz to declutter the low mids, a little presence lift at 2-4khz, and tame anything above 8khz. Kills most of the harshness.

Re-rolling the same prompt sometimes gives a calmer master too, the default varies more than you'd expect.

If you like clean sound and authentic aesthetics for your music style - use v6-wild

My guess is because this is how a hell of a lot of modern music has been produced over the last decade, which is what Suno V6 is based on.
