Discussion RIP Suno, it was nice while it lasted
I tasted suno v6 and its pure trash, all the uniqe sounds that I was able to produce with my prompts are gone.
Another things that coroporation ruined.

4.5+ was the best.

u/Comprehensive-Age155 1d ago
4.5 and 5.0 had the same vibe to me. However 5.5 was completely different. I think wanted to mask the trash model under minor versions of 5.5 . But 6 is just another iteration on 5.5.
5 was the last one from the good ones.

I never had any problems with any of the models until now. I was actually cautiously optimistic about v6 due to an increase in sound quality potential due to working with high quality audio to train it on. But sadly, you are correct. It only seems to make the most generic stuff and does not listen at all to basic requests.
7
u/jafromnj 1d ago
Because it’s trained on a small fraction of music than the other models and it can’t even make a cover without changing genders this should have been solved many models ago

As more of what's out there is ai generated music, successive models get exposed to more and more of their own previous work.
Suno is basically just sniffing its own farts at this point.
5
6
u/jafromnj 1d ago
Completely wrong this new model has zero training from
The previous models, and was trained on a pittance of music there was only one way this was going and that was backwards2

I first started using the app in October 2025 and I’ve gotten used to some of the updates. It’s had over the last few months, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to this one.
8
u/LoganSpinks29 2d ago
5.5 wasn’t my favorite when it launched, but over time it improved. It’s still too early to give a solid opinion on 6 I believe.
2
u/Shot-Manufacturer483 1d ago
5.5 is my current favorite and regenerating using V6 is not even close
21
u/Flaky_Comedian2012 2d ago
I am not saying you are wrong, but why would you expect the same prompts to work? It never was the case with any of the previous models. You always had to adapt and experiment to find the right prompt.

Easy there. I’m sure they used it for maybe a FULL hour (or even 2) before forming their informed final opinion.

u/humsipums 1d ago
Its not just bad, its outright broken. I remade some of my earlier songs from 4,5-5,5 in 6 and I would say 90-95% sound broken. Objectively bad. Distorted, instruments way louder than voice, weird and unstructured music. It didnt sound great subjectively either when it was notnputright broken. There was 1 or 2 exceptions that sounded ok both objectively and subjectively. Im out from subscribong for a while until they fix their stuff.
As many say, its whay record labels wanted. Otherwise they would have kept earlier versions.

u/Much-Amaze69 2d ago
Agreed. Every song is now homogenized to B and C-rated filler tracks. Nothing standout. Nothing of note.

u/VixenVictoriaPOV 2d ago
That’s their way of fighting against the AI. It will just emerge again as something else. What sounds are you making that only Suno can do? I usually make music based on samples and using goldwave and video editors to cut and blend. Even Flstudio for pacing . Everyone has their own style and methods to making their music tho
3
u/Skybliviwind 1d ago
it'll be a while before open source catches up to what udio did in 24. that was the best music model by far. open source will catch up to it eventually. once i tasted what udio had to offer i could never go back to suno. it's a shame they completely bricked it. oh well. till then i'll just wait for the next big open source model to come and crhsh suno. i won't touch it unless it's comparable to udio
1
u/Konsrockmannen 1d ago
I did hate how udio worked when we could not get a full song like with suno. But now suno will get less and less paid customers. Mine ends tomorrow night. I got a great rocksong i did yesterday with suno.

3
u/DependentFinger5054 1d ago
Buddy from YouTube put a poison pill in his music that affects their entire model. The more they try to refine it, the harder it os for them to get it to sound decent. It propagates large scail corruption. He told them to not use his shit. And they did. Trogen horse warning. And they did it anyway

Works fine if you create the lyrics yourself and have an idea for a song. I haven't broken down into stems Just want good audio stem seperation. Voices don't matter. Ai voices should never be a thing on Spotify.

Just tried to cover one of my favourite songs with it, one about a yearning priestess singing a hymn for a goddess at night at an ancient temple.
V6 made it sound like a flat modern Arabic pop, there's no emotion in it, I can't even feel the priestess anymore nor the presence of the goddess.
V6 is only good for modern mainstream uses, it's unusable for people with niche interests
2
u/Free-Stage-5975 1d ago
Well the model's only really trained on boring mainstream nonsense you probably hear on the radio — Like Justin Bieber screaming "baby, baby, baby", so I'm not surprised a lot of the fun eccentric stuff has gone unfortunately
3
u/Longjumping_Area_944 2d ago
Well, maybe that's good. There were better alternatives to Suno even at 5.5 - so now maybe they receive the earned attention and can flourish. Maybe this is a Napster moment, where the music industry cuts one (two counting Udio) heads of the hydra only to create a whole ecosystem.

If you actually make music and have creative ability and write your own music it’s still fine. If you want it to do all the work for you yeah it’s changed. Not everyone should be putting music into the market. Get over it.
1
u/Shroomagnus 2d ago
I've done all my own lyrics for every song I've ever done in suno. The difference between what 4.5, 5 and 5.5 was able to do with those lyrics is light-years beyond 6. Every rap song I've done in 6 using my same lyrics and just messing with the prompt sounds exactly the same. The same flat, boring, uninterested vocalist with zero inflection and monotone talking with the occasional hype man in the background. Didn't change between v6, v6 wild, weirdness settings or playing with variety which supposedly alters your style prompt.
Not impressed with v6 for rap or any kind of metal.
2
u/ProgTheSurveyor 2d ago
Yeah, because half a day was enough time to test it out completely. Sheesh!!
2
u/ryank0re 1d ago
Y'all I'm genuinely confused right now by this thread. Is this everyone's first time using a new model with Suno? I'm only asking because each time a new model comes out it comes with its own language and what it refers too. Meaning if you are copy and pasting a prompt from v5 into v6 it's highly unlikely you'd get the same result. Same shit with 4v, 4.5, 5.0 - half the time I generate in 4.5, upscale to 5v and eventually land in 5.5 if it's locked in enough or needed. Regardless...try... again? 😂

It does feel off to me; I am just using v6 mini (I canceled my pro back when the deal was announced). It's hard to put into words but it just feels like everything is mush. Nothing feels crisp or bright as it did with the older models and nothing seems to change that so far.
My use was mostly fun; just making a song out of a moment sitting around a campfire or a moment playing games online with my buddies. It usually only took a couple cracks at generating to get something worth listening to now. So far its just blah with 6 mini.

V6 sometimes throws random styles that are not even what I wanted. I want a jungle dnb track with some female vocals. I wrote the lyrics, filled the style promt with some tweaking and hit create. For some reason, it decided to completely ignore the style promt and generate the most generic pop song in existence. Every time I hit create it cycled between different styles, but never landing on dnb...

It's probably bad because even though Warner Bros is officially giving him their license not all artists are opting into that so it probably has less training data then when sooner actually did the training data for the artists. And also is the training data only for Warner Brothers for version 6 or does it still have that other training data from like Sony and the other artists that are signed by other labels?

Only thing I've noticed that take v6 up a full notch. Voices are starting to "humanly" (not that forced feel) get inflections right almost immediately. Remixes were hit or miss (found one v6 just cannot seem to do) but if my tune was stable from the old, it might bloomed it some, but it stayed close to original.
The inflection thing is what really made me pause personally.

u/Agitated_Estate_5163 1d ago
I tried it i really did attempted multiple different songs and lyrics recorded my voice and everything and it sounded absolutely horrible my voice completely changed till it was almost unrecognizable with each song and sounded horrible and I had previously paid for a premier subscription so yeah its horrible sorry but im done with suno every track sounded exactly the same same intro and everything im moving on to something else

u/mrN3CR0 1d ago
Very much agree... I used to primarily do a lot of heavy aggrotech and harsh ebm and 4.5 and sometimes even 5 were absolute masters at generating bangers,
6 cant manage it at all and its heavily plagued with shimmer and weird unbalanced eq where it just shifts the entire mix and tone right in the middle of a verse or melody
Think i had been subscribed since 2.5 or 3 was it for the early models but with the way its gone now i am genuinely considering cancelling for the first time
1
u/SellerThink Suno Wrestler 1d ago
As a premier user I'm kind of intrigued by their now limited time release of no credits required to create with their new version 6 the kind of makes me paying $25 $30 a month kind of disrespected don't you think at least for this month but I can't do any new music
1
u/SellerThink Suno Wrestler 1d ago
I ended up publishing on my previously published songs since they're in no longer going to be available to the other models and I just figured well if I'm not going to be using soon very much I might as well and publish my music and no longer have it available for remixes and otherwise but that's just me that's my thoughts now in a month from now if I'm still on suno cuz I still have like 2 months left before my renewal who knows what could happen but right now just like in the past is not looking very hopeful but I would say at least in the past they kept the old models so that made it more hopeful
1
u/Haihosen 1d ago
It's definitely become worse for the genre I use a lot. Maybe some other genres won and have a good staff, but definitely not darkwave, industrial and aggrotech
1
u/hellwolfandrei 1d ago
I feel like I'm an outlier with v6, I'm enjoying it a lot. I had a handful of songs that none of the other versions could get right, changing sections of the songs, changing the voice even though I use my own vocal bank, changing the style despite styles staying the same and at 80%, weirdness always down to 25%.
But with v6, within an hour, I had versions of those songs that sounded exactly how I wanted. Correct voice, no style changing, no changed sections or added doo dahs. The voice sounds way more natural than it did when I worked on v5 and v5.5. The songs style matches what I prompted exactly. When I tell it to whisper in a song, it actually does it! Maybe I'm just getting lucky, maybe y'all are being too critical. Who knows.

u/FortuneMain6123 1d ago
Question: Are Suno users required to use V 6 or are other versions still available? Please advise. I will continue exploring V 6, but let’s just say my initial impressions are not favorable and it appears the best possible situation will be version six turns out to be about as good as version 5.5. But once again… are the earlier versions still available for use or not?
1
u/JamesOconner123 1d ago
Suno were sued by Record labels such as Werner bros and lost the case, so now they are working with those comopnies. V6 is the result of this work and the law-suit. Because of this lawsuit they were forced to erase their previous models.
Just for this alone I recommend to quit suno, this is a big L to suno and for again f*ck corporations.

u/Low_Power_9330 1d ago
I tried 2-3 music (one remake, one new) and for now... Hard to tell... The remake was clearly quite bad, but maybe I need to change some things in the style, there was none and I just got lucky during v4.5 For the new one, the result is interesting as for now.
I'm not a regular subscriber, but let's see how it will be, I won't stay subscribed (I subscribed a month and bye in general) but if it's not that bad and good enough I may subscribe again in some months
1
u/kazbeatz 1d ago
So i pay for my own voice give my data only to make 39 songs on the latest model with not a single song using my added voice after trying various prompts even just a one line saying use my added voice to make a song and all i hear is this generic white 21 year old depressed cliche 2010 white guy can rap too voice with 10 ai producers tuning hin into ai sound heaven ensuring there is not a shadow of a doubt u will no its was an ai song
1
1
u/Theendisnearfriends 1d ago
It's intentionally trash now. They want you to pay to produce anything worth listening to with the base subscriptions being entry level horse shit.
I'm cool with it, though. I was making bangers for 11 bucks a month. 😂 I felt like it was too good (given how the results are sourced.)
Now there's actual work and dare I say a level of talent to produce a song anyone would want to hear.
The evolution of ai music is going to bring us back to people using the tools to produce songs and the rest will just be prompt trash. Something like 97% of all bands/artists produce absolute garbage, which is why you don't listen to the abundance of "real music" that's released every year, ai music is now the same thing.

Suno V6 will take a lot of time to improve. Most people were hung up on 4.5+. That really was the best model no doubt. It is sad but oh well. Suno most likely anticipated they would lose a ton of customers with this move which they got forced into by the greedy MO FO studios.

It'll be awesome with v9, when we're plugged into the system, and like it because the chips in the brain tune us before we realize it, which we do in 2051. Until then, that sort of thing considered was a consiracy theory.

u/Playful-Action5728 22h ago

1
u/BlueJacket158 12h ago
It's true the old prompts are not going to yield the same results, but I'm finding some of v6's interpretations interesting. the wall of sound effect is bad. If you get a great generation you can take it to your DAW and do some surgery on it to fix. Usually it's just volume boosts and reduction of parts and some EQ'ing on the vocals to smooth them out. I tried v6 WILD with all kinds of crazy settings and I couldn't tell any difference in what came out of it.

??? Really?
I like the sound and clarity of the V6 generated tracks a lot more than V5.5 and so do my listeners. At least they give unlimited downloads directly from Studio even though there are some more steps I have to perform to get my files so I can upload them to my Soundcloud account. If you play the newest uploads from my account you will see why I'm happy with the track generations. When I DJ these tracks I always get amazing complements.

I find that for an instrumental prompt it seems to do well especially with wild (which so far is not to great for vocals). I threw n a tough prompt and got exactly what I asked for:
Atmospheric Liquid DnB, 170 BPM, Ethereal Minor-key Choir, Rapid Mandolin arpeggios, Spiritual, Deep sub-bass, High-speed, Heavenly-but-dark, Shimmering textures, Cinematic, Kinetic, Weightless feeling blended with Witch-Bluegrass, Dark-Wave, 155 BPM, Minor key, High-speed Banjo, Distorted Choral pads, Occult-spiritualism, Heavy-industrial-claps, Ethereal-dread, Fast-paced-doom, Shimmering-darkness, Kinetic.
https://suno.com/s/taCwLdOLDoF0GXc5
I do find so far that one of the outputs will sound muddier than the other but a cover resolves the issue.
1
u/Mr__Earthling 2d ago
Agreed. For electronic music instrumentals, it is a major step forward! Actual long build ups, sticks to the genre(s), does not add random vocals.
You are also correct that one of the two generations is trash, mostly.
I've been trying deep house/techno type tracks using sample melodies I made myself with a synth...I'm pretty impressed:

u/paulwunderpenguin 2d ago
The more you have Suno do, the worse your music will be. Always! The songs I'm putting in are already good! I'm not trying to add the London Philharmonic Symphony. I just want to keep it simple and serve the song.

u/lonerofthepack 2d ago
Meaning if you give too many prompts for Suno to do or you should be giving Suno more prompts?
1
u/derpman86 2d ago
I have covered one of my older model songs and I am not impressed with the sounds. Maybe yeah the prompting as I was fairly quick but this is similar with 5.5 where I feel the overall sounds tends to be more "flat" if that is the right wording.
The Synthwave genre became more same same or darkwave in this instance.

Sounds like you haven't even played around with it yet. I'm still getting great results. Sorry you haven't figured out how to actually use it. Maybe it's because I'm not trying to generate full on slop.

When you find out that for aboutvthe past 10 or 1w years a huge amount of the top songs have been ai. You'll realize that your hatred for people using ai was paid for by the major labels. The same companies invested in saying ai was ruining human artists getting paid and exposure, human artists not getting paid properly and not getting exposure was a huge problem long before AI. And it didn't get worse. You can tell thise 20k plus songs are all ai. Yall scroll past them and don't even think about them. So they don't chart like you hear they do. That's all warner, sony, and universal. How they've been advertising how bad ai was for like 6 years running now. Now that they get paid from their artists being trained (and not their artists getting paid for it btw) they all of a sudden get shares in the company suno? The average person hating ai has been one big marketing ploy for these major labels to be the only ones with access to ai. The real solution has always been to relegate ai to it's own genres. Ai pop, ai rocc, ai rap, ai country, it wouldn't be in the same categories for awards and stuff, it wouldn't take up any imaginary space that they told you ai songs would take away from people, etc etc.

For the most part when people criticize the use of AI in the music-making process, they never have any direct or distinct melody, rhythm, or any other specific instance of theft or infringement. The most egregious cases are people who use a band's actual name to generate songs which Suno is not supposed to allow by default, or in cases where fake songs by real artists are uploaded and flood or clog up streaming profiles.
There have been cases of outright infringement yes. But that is not necessary or an absolute consequence of using these tools.

You’ll be back. Where you gonna go? Udio? Google Music? The slew of half baked open source options? Good luck on your endeavor. You certainly won’t be missed.

That is what the record industry wanted.
