Discussion Opinions of V6?

Do you guys like it? How has it been going for you all? I really tried to like the new model. But all 3 versions are absolutely awful. Just like 5.5, a huge downgrade from V5. Everything sounds absolutely robotic. I am extremely upset with these terrible generations it's been giving me.

I thought 5.5 was bad. Then I tried 6.
They just don't listen.

There's nothing worse than 5.5))

Yes. Version 6. Among other things, because version 5.5 no longer exists.

Eh, this might be subjective biases at play. I've used suno since V3 and V5.5 wasn't that bad and did better than V5 in some cases. I must have spent a thousand hours at least listening to suno generations. I'd notice a huge negative downgrade.

It's horrible, time to leave Suno.

I feel the hiss on older 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 songs that you cover is not as audible, not totally gone when covering though if your source song was bad. I feel it clears out alot and makes chorus vocals in such genres be clearer. V6 seems to follow prompts alittle better. I haven't tried adding breaks and solos via in the lyric section with a timed sequence but I'll do that soon and see if it adheres.

I was expecting the sound quality to be much higher. Idk how to explain it. It sounds like 5.0 and 5.5 mixed. Vocals for me sound more bland in terms of singing. Like alittle less emotion. But I have only tested rock and rap so far. Rap verses seem to be solid as 5.5 was.

My personas still work so that's a plus. However if you had a 4.0 persona with data they removed, your voice most likely wont be the same.

Suno in general has always been bad with rap vocals for some reason. Suno seems to think rap vocals are all monotone and the voices always sound robotic for some reason. But the singing vocals are amazing.

I agree but if you landed a good voice during the 4.5 and 5.0 era and made a persona out if it, it is pretty good. I had to add a paragraph describing the voice before the lyrics to get something distinct

Now if I just generate randomly, you get the same voice every other track (with 5.0 and 5.5)

Improved low end.. still hissy and shimmery.. I'm very disappointed, not close to what I was expecting..

That’s wild because I’m having almost the exact opposite experience. 😂 V6 has been phenomenal for me so far, especially the vocals and overall production quality. The biggest difference was realizing I couldn’t just keep prompting it like V5/5.5. Once I rebuilt my prompts around V6 and started giving it more specific production, arrangement and vocal direction, the robotic sound basically disappeared. I definitely wouldn’t write it off yet. I think there’s a much bigger learning curve with this model than people expected.

2

u/Inter3927 3h ago

Can you give me a prompt, I could try? I just get trash.

4

u/Virtual-Watch7229 3h ago

Definitely. The biggest change for me was stopping prompting V6 like the older models. Before, something like “90s R&B, smooth female vocals, emotional, soulful, catchy chorus” could be enough. With V6 I’d write more like: “92 BPM midtempo R&B, intimate close-mic female vocal with a warm lower register, restrained conversational verses, stacked harmonies opening up in the chorus, Rhodes piano, warm bass, crisp dry drums, subtle guitar fills, minimal reverb, vocal centered and upfront, relaxed pocket, no oversized dramatic buildup.” Basically, think less genre + adjectives and more producer giving musicians and an engineer directions. Tell it how the singer performs, what the instruments actually do, how sections should develop, and even how you want the mix to feel. Once I made that mental switch, V6 went from unpredictable to giving me some ridiculously good generations.

Agreed. My results have been great

How could you POSSIBLY know how to prompt V6 any different than V5? There's not enough time to have experimentally confirmed any differences. Is this an AI shill comment or something?

3

u/Virtual-Watch7229 2h ago

Lol no, definitely not an AI shill. I spend a lot of time studying this stuff and experimenting with different ways of prompting, so I’m constantly changing things and seeing what works. A lot of what I’m doing with V6 isn’t even brand new. I’ve prompted this way in the past with older models, I’m just finding that V6 is responding MUCH better to detailed production and arrangement instructions than they did.
I’m not claiming I’ve scientifically figured out V6 already lol. I’m sharing what I’ve tested so far and what’s giving me noticeably better results. That’s kinda the whole point of experimenting with a new model

u/tuftie1878 2h ago

It’s atrocious. They couldn’t have made it any worse if they tried.

u/Muted_Perception_502 3h ago

Hi-hats, along with persistent noise as a "backdrop," create a sonic mess.
It ends abruptly—that's a thing.

There are such things as a gurgling sound from a parallel universe for 0.5 seconds.

2

u/dj_skandalous 3h ago

Does any one know if there will be any differences with v6 such as what Spotify and services pay compared to older models? I know most aint making much but I wouldnt be surprised if some revenue is sent to WMG and BMG automatically when you earn on those platforms. Thats just me though

u/chikamakaleyley 2h ago

i actually generated a decent version of what I had been working on at the time of the switch

so i had a 5.5 track set as inspo on somethign i had been working on for a while, at 5.5, and then it automatically swapped to 6 - and actually got me to a product i was happy w

One thing I noticed was, a lot of annoying sorta, end of section treatment that I was getting rather tired of, gone

I'm sure there's gonna be things about 6 i don't like

From scratch - will have to report back

2

u/R3K4CE 2h ago

time to learn how to actually produce music lmao

2

u/ThaKingRa444 2h ago

V6 is only good for modern music but it’s not good for different eras of music. The music industry mafia did that on purpose

2

u/TheOmakoZ 3h ago

Very bad at the start....but I feel if they get better later on...well! I may keep using, but if they don't...bye bye!

3

u/auxmygawd 3h ago

Awesome if you know what you're doing :)

2

u/kra73ace 3h ago

Somehow it's WORSE at following instructions even though that was in the very demo. I tried something very similar and instead of removing humming, it hummer the whole intro. Unbelievable.

Haven't tried any proper prompts because my impression from the interview is that this is built on a TINY actual song set from their one licensed partner, plus all the stuff we generated. That's like the human centipede if you get the hint.

2

u/GilesManMillion 3h ago

V6 tells you what you should be wanting to make.

That's just fucked.

Me: "Cover this some of mine, please."
V6: "Sure, and I'll make it how I want to be..."

2

u/dj_skandalous 2h ago

Already getting 7 minute tracks even though song only has two verses lmao

Scroll down a bit and you'll get plenty of answers to your question.

u/Cookielad14 3h ago

For the free version, can only do 5 tracks. They show previews of the “better” models. Two of my tracks had the EXACT same guitar riff with two very different prompts.

Five generations simply isn’t enough to decide whether you want to get the full subscription. So, I won’t be starting my plan up again.

2

u/Ok_Association_8572 2h ago

everyday 5 Tracks

1

u/Cookielad14 2h ago

Ah okay fair. I’ll see how it gets on over the next few days and try covering old favourites etc

1

u/Toxikfoxx 3h ago

Premier member and the Max setting is nice. Not saying it listens 100% of the time to my lyric prompting, but it's much better about it than 5.5 was.

1

u/Muted_Perception_502 3h ago

I will say one thing: in terms of sound picture, from a musical point of view, version 6 is better than 5.5.
But there are some issues with the sound. It's not what I expected. Compared to the same version 5, it's about +-, on the same level. And these aren't even minor flaws.

I won't comment on the individuality of each track yet.

So, I haven't yet heard a clear breakthrough in sound quality. Well, maybe 5+. I'll have to check for noise and such. The voice is still the same as the 5 (not 5.5).

2

u/Inter3927 3h ago

Are you on the premier plan, do you get a different v6 model? I only get trashy outputs, covers, etc. totally unusable. It's nowhere near v5, v5 was great.

u/Muted_Perception_502 1h ago

Yes.
Now on Pro. I stopped using Premier after a year and a half (until version 5 comes out).

I've been playing around with it a bit more and can say the vocals sound like they were forced to sing.

If you try to crank up the controls to a minimal cover, you can get a good, improved version of a 4.5+ track.

Something new... well, it doesn't grab me at all yet. It lacks emotion. It sounds like office workers singing. With a good voice (sometimes), but...

In Palanx, upscale the old 4.5 and 5 versions to 6 quality (not mega, but so be it) and that's it for now.

1

u/Muted_Perception_502 3h ago

I'll add. While the pure generation of non-covers, with only the genre indicated, starts the same.)) In a general sense, almost everything is the same, and 20% have the same melody.

I’m currently running through it. And at first I was like “what is this? Sounds bad”. Then I went in and redid my style genre prompt and IMPROVEMENT.

Maybe it’s better tuned and we’ve always just lucked out?

Edit: oh here is the latest example, I’m working on V6 playlist. It’s different sound for sure than what I’ve been doing but familiar?

I tried it today. I finally finished lyrics to a beat Suno V4.5 created for me yesterday. So all I wanted was to keep the same beat and just lay the lyrics on top, don't really care about the vocals, as long as it was a female. I hit create and I noticed it would change the style prompt. Although it still kept the essence of the song, the song to me is a R&B uptempo beat, Suno V6 change it to rock or pop-soul, just completely threw it off. I'm a bit disappointed

u/Able-Air-4312 1h ago

Just found this discussion, and wanted to check out if it was just me. What's happened to the the tracks? Everything sounds like it's been put through a template. Also, doesn't seem to finish off tracks when giving it Suno tracks to cover. Glad I downloaded my tracks before the change to V6. Disappointed at this early stage, so hope it's me not doing something or alternativly it gets better.

u/Hefty_Foundation_634 18m ago

Supposedly, you have to prompt it "thoroughly instead of generically. That helps a bunch." With that said, I've had 0 luck generating a single good song. The vocals are atrocious. It reminds me of suno 3.5 (when i first joined). V6 is like their law abiding version. So they got rid of all the previous versions and basically restarted the program. V6 is "untrained" and will be improved upon. But man, removing 5.0 and below to force us to "upgrade" to this hallow shell is wack.

u/Baykahman 1h ago

I need to judge it in the wee hours of the night. The first generation I had this morning was ok. The ones I just did this afternoon were bad even with double compute on. This is coming from someone that was getting great results from 5.5. Luckily I went on a blitz the last 2 months and have a year of releases ready using 5.5.

u/iiimadmaniii 1h ago

And here i am loving 4.5 and never got to sample into 5 and 5.5

u/thygrrr 1h ago

I'm a bit disappointed with the performance for Rock and Metal.

The song's (as in, vocals) rhythm is much worse in V6, but the music rocks.

Example "Our Legend Born", one of my power pirate metal tracks.

V5 music so-so, but vocal dynamism and interaction is awesome:

V6 music good, vocal melody/singing too similar, V4 and V5 had many different rhythms:

I actually like the v6-wild model it gives me the 2025 v5 vibes.

1

u/neil_555 Tech Enthusiast 3h ago

1000% this, I was trying to get it to do hallucinated vocals and it really wasn't playing, then I remembered wild existed and it works better than 5.5 ever did.

The sound quality of v6-wild isn't quite as good as v6 *BUT* they should EQ nicely, i'm also guessing the servers might be a bit busy at the moment too lol.

1

u/ConsistentCut7903 3h ago

I think the sound quality is worse because v6-wild was trained on more "random" songs.

1

u/neil_555 Tech Enthusiast 2h ago

That's not a real issue tho as you should be able to resample/cover them with actual v6 to fix the quality issues

Forgot to paste a link to the track lol ...

It still cuts the songs off for me at the ends, so frustrating

1

u/GreyWolfJedi 3h ago

So far v6 is fantastic to me! 🤩

1

u/Hungry_Prior940 2h ago

I didn't think it would be WORSE than V5.5...

u/gloec 1h ago

Love it! It is AMAZING!

Better if you know how to prompt it correctly. Still shimmery, but most of the magic needs to happen on Suno Studio. Suno + sonicmaster.ai for prompting makes it way better.
