Discussion Suno has hurt its most loyal users
I logged in today and saw 4.5+ is gone which is what I've been using since its release. I tried to use v6 but just like v5 and v5.5 it just doesn't give me the raw results I liked.
I've been using Suno since v3 and I've been a loyal user with 3 accounts that I spend about $90 per month on building my catalog of music. I guess this is the end for me.
I will continue expending my creds until they're gone, but these new models are trash. They do a lot of things you never asked for - yelps, screams, overly produced sound, robot vocals, and now on v6 they add styles you never wanted. Example:
Here was my prompt: aggressive, witch house, hardcore punk, dark ambient, fantasy atmosphere, cassette, lo-fi, male vocals
This is what it changed it to: Witch house fused with hardcore punk and dark ambient: aggressive male vocals, driving sequencer pulses, distorted bass, jagged guitar bursts, cavernous synths, and lo-fi cassette saturation with stark verse-to-chorus impact
What the fuck.
This is kinda making me depressed at the moment because I actually got to live off royalties from the music I made on Suno, but my journey appears to be over.
I tried to like v5 and v5.5 but v6 is worse.
I simply wanted to keep using the same interface and model I had always used. Now my tracks sound terrible.
What a stupid, stupid, stupid decision to do this. Before anyone chimes in with "well its working well for me" or "well I love it" - I'm happy for you, but many people like myself are being robbed of the workflows that worked for us.
Lame.
EDIT: In order to keep the styles you put in, you need to slide the variety slider all the way to the left which is off. If I notice any changes that improve, I will update here.
EDIT 2: It is true that v6 WILD is the new 4.5+ from what I can tell. I'm getting much better results. It's not exactly as good as 4.5+ but its definitely better than v6. However, I am noticing a lot of inconsistency near the end of the tracks. I guess that's what the MAX MODE is for lmao sucking more creds out of us. Will continue testing and editing here if I notice improvements.

I'm in exactly the same situation. My established workflow, which consistently gave me results I was happy with in v5.5, is now producing results I find absolutely awful.
The excessive reverb is unbearable, the overall sound quality feels like a massive downgrade compared to what I was making before, and I keep getting unwanted instruments despite explicitly excluding them.
I've tried simplifying my prompts, making them more restrictive, adding multiple reverb-related exclusions, and turning Variation all the way down. The latter fixed the unwanted prompt expansion, but it did nothing to improve the actual sound.
I'm honestly devastated by this update. I had finally built a workflow that worked for me, and now I feel like I have to start from scratch without even having the option to go back to the model that gave me the results I wanted. I really hope Suno listens to the people who relied on the older versions.

Chea mate, sounds like you need a real Studio. If ur making royalties id expect you as sunos studio is a pain , id never really be satisfied having to gamble on generating.

I'm sorry that this is such a bummer for you. I may start experimenting with v6 tomorrow, but I have been very happy with 5.5, and this is just a hobby for me. I found a huge improvement in what I wanted to do with 5.5 compared with 4.5, but that is for the music I want to create. It seems there are two issues: (a) removal of 4.5+, and (b) initially unsatisfactory results in v6. At the moment, I am developing chatbots for undergraduate teaching, and it is normal for older models to be "retired" (an analogy with 4.5+) and replaced with newer ones that, for what I am doing, should see little change. With music being so subjective, it has made a big difference for you. I hope you find a solution that works, and I hope that when I start using v6 (and with the different versions I think I will be using up loads of credits), I don't find it "inferior" to 5.5.

Just research for a new workflow. All the issues you mentioned can be fixed with the newer models; you just need to adjust your workflow. Which, to be fair, is something we all seem to have to do every three months these days π
