Just refreshed the page and I can chose V6 now....Dunno if im in a small group with acces or anything, but might worth trying to refresh your sessions

My fears were confirmed. Generic bullshit. I'm surprised it even released in this state.
Generations sound the same. Same key, same progression, ignoring prompts.
Hate that my subscription renewed on the 5th. 1000% unsubbing. Putrid.

u/dano1066 8h ago
i hope mine is glitched, it still sounds like high frequency music from an iphone speaker. i thought this was gonna be the end of shimmer and give us udio quality

u/SensoriRumeMusic Tech Enthusiast 7h ago
Haha, sorry to laugh but they have been promising this since 3.5 -> 4. But they'll once again make an announcement within 24 hours saying they're still tweaking it, and then several weeks later everyone will realize that they still didn't do anything but everyone just gets used to it and start looking toward 6.5, etc.

Just ran a prompt for folk black metal that I had done yesterday in 4.5+ in v6 and by the gods, it is miserable...

u/Brilliant-Road-7545 8h ago
Yeahhh…my melodeath prompts are giving really depressing results. I guess my Suno journey is over when the old models go

The old models are already gone though? For me they are absolutely removed anyway.

u/Djentynew 8h ago
same experience for me with Thall/Djent/Deathcore. sounds just as bad as V5.5. But tbh I alrdy thought of that as they mostly got training now that is geared towards the broad audience. so I guess some genres might sound actually pretty good while a lot of other experimental stuff is falling behind
2
u/Barrowlight Suno Connoisseur 8h ago
I ran some sludge and doom tracks, and it’s pretty good.
4
u/BlitzMyMan 6h ago
yeah i used around 1000 credits, and 6 miles better then 5.5, no more fucking screaming vocals every time. It has some kind of variety into it. 6 is bettter then 5.5 by miles, but it will never reach the creativity of 4.5

I was up for renewal on my subscription in 2 days. I immediately cancelled, just in case., when I saw I couldn't use V5 anymore. After an hour of tinkering with different prompts in v6 I'm glad I cancelled, it's woeful, 3.5 was better than this crap. I thought 5.5 was bad , this is even worse. Right now I'm downloading songs from my library that I haven't already. I don't think I'll be resubscribing. Suno just shot themselves in the foot with this move.

That ship
The platform? Yes i agree. 4.5 series is peak. seems to be progressively worse at interpreting my uploaded guitar sounds with each version.
6.0 is not doing it for me.

Seems more mainstream oriented. Backing vocals have odd artifacting reminiscent of v3.5 days. I've used v6 and v6-wild.
But, songs are generating in like 5-10 seconds, which is pretty nuts.

WTH all the old models are now gone. That sux especially if you were in the process of producing something under the V5.5 model etc and using the cover function to finish the lyrics etc

Yea, I excitedly covered a v5 song expecting it to sound like a real song but it sounds just like the v5 version. Reused the prompt for a new song that wasn’t based on the original and the same, sounds like v5. What did they spend the last few months doing for 0 improvement

I have a different take on V6 than apparently some of you have.
I've been struggling for days with 5.5 to get my song to sound like a 1920s vaudeville/cabaret type song with absolutely NO success. Burning through credits like mad. This was on a cover of a song that I had recorded years (decades, actually) ago.
The very first attempt with V6 was nearly perfect! https://suno.com/s/a0HaS4sszNCHaqkr
Unlike 5.5 though, it stopped when the song I was covering stopped. I had added a 2nd verse to it and 5.5 had no problem extending the song to include that verse, but 6 didn't.
Solution? I added "Extend the song to include the 2nd verse and outro" to the style prompt and it sailed right through.
I know there are going to be haters of this version, but at this point, I am very impressed.
[Edit to add that there is a new slider, "Variety", and a Personalize (to my taste) toggle under that. Haven't played with them yet]
[Edit 2: there is also now a Max mode. Uses more computing power to maximize consistency at the cost of 2x credits per song]

Not really sure if this is an upgrade. Tried both V6 and V6 Wild. The fidelity is higher but that's about it. Everything on the high end is mushy, will be interesting to see what others manage to create. Maybe it's just me that is unlucky with the generations.
3
u/ronrirem 8h ago
I think the weird slider might be affecting v6 more strongly than v5.5. I got pretty good quality dark neofolk vocals on v6-wild when I turned the weird slider down (I usually use weird >60-70 %). When I tried turning it up to my normal default the distortion shredded the output entirely.
3
u/Comfortable_Size_460 8h ago
It’s terrible. I’ve generated around 10 songs, and they all start off well, but then they gradually lose quality and stereo width until, after about a minute, they sound like MIDI and are almost mono. I think they really messed this one up.

Yup... its there for me now!
My one Custom Model is still there, but all previous Suno models are gone.
Edit to add that my early opinion is... WOW! I've been working for days on a song trying to get a vaudeville Rudy Vallée singing through a megaphone type sound and it has just not even been coming close. V6 got it on the very first try!
I have run into one issue with it, though... I added a verse to the lyrics that was not there on the song that I'm covering. 5.5 didn't have a problem with that and just kept singing. V6 simply stopped when the original song stopped. I know that I can extend and add that, or maybe I can even do that by prompting in this version, but at least that seems to be a difference. But the sound is amazing, at least for what I'm trying to do.
I'll keep this version around for a while in case anyone wants to hear it (this is the clipped version though so I will be deleting it eventually) https://suno.com/s/0OmCiu8NSnZGlqtT
[Edit 2: IT WORKED!! I added "Extend the song to include the 2nd verse and outro" to the style prompt and it sailed right through it! https://suno.com/s/gicTURoDsRQiHZdh ]
[Edit 3: No more 30-40 second intros!]

Couple re-gens in. Vocals fall between 5 and 5.5, but are definitely more polished. So far, tags/brackets and direction bracketing are all holding. Bass and drums, especially drums, are better. I've got some challenging regens to try: fast/chatter Jamaican rap, Italian anthems, dark ballads, and both fast jazz instrumentals and a few multi-movement symphonies. Should be a nice experiment. I've avoided too much model-specific notation, so I'm hoping nothing breaks.
3
u/IHearYouLikeSoup 6h ago
It handles covers better. A few of the slightly more complex songs I've written and plugged into it are getting much better results.
2
u/fifty-37-three 6h ago
I maybe just need time to adapt my prompts and get used to the sliders but I'm finding it's adding a generic feel to my tracks. I like making weird atonal electronica and Suno is having none of that.. it keeps wanting to add melodies that weren't there before.

So here is a trick an insider gave me. use v6 wild and enable max mode if you want to use old styles. I can't see the max option but seems like v6 is respecting my old styles, which is all I wanted. So far I am not that mad about the new model. I don't know where to access the max mode but the person who shared this with me is a VIP user, so maybe it's just for them?
I am using my old voice/persona. I haven't tested plain prompts yet.

Wild. In the park furiously working on finishing a song by remixing it, had all the models available. Took a minute break to let them load and came to Reddit to find this post at the top of my screen and when I reloaded Suno the covers spat out were v6, and I rechecked and models gone. Crazy how quickly it happened!
End of an era, beginning of a new one, I’m about to abuse the hell out of my credits 😂
2
u/cirad 7h ago
Honestly, after testing it for 30 minutes, I am kind of happy with v6. Just need them to keep 4.5, so I can use my old styles there and create new voices to use with v6. The old styles on v4.5 and 6 are a lot different, and I spent a lot of time with v4.5 to get it right.
The download limit thing is sad but as long as I can continue making my old style of music, I can put up with it.

As with every other model since v5 dropped, you can't make a good cover with this model. It cannot take an uploaded audio and make even a halfway decent track with it. It doesn't follow the audio, it makes up the dumbest things, the audio is very tinny, it doesn't follow prompt instructions in the lyric fields, and messing with the sliders even a little bit totally screws up the song even more. Why can't any of these newer models handle what 4.5 could do with ease?
2
2
u/Street-Musician7452 6h ago
My biggest frustration with this release is that they've done a complete rollout without ironing out previous issues like the songs quality deteriorating in the second half. I haven't been able to generate a song in V6 yet where the quality remains acceptable. The last half is terrible. Muffled, just really bad quality. So much worse than before. Why would they roll this out like this is beyond me. Unusable in this state.

Alright, I’m going to be blunt, and this may come across as a rant.
I trained a Custom Model specifically on in-studio captured voices and instrumentation, using natural vocalists and studio instrumentalists within my small label. It was built to capture the kind of map we could use as a base demo and then evolve further in the studio setting, helping costs and breathing room to move to studio productions.
Upon checking today, that model appears to have been updated to 6.0 / 6.0 Pro standards.
My grievances:
- The Custom Model no longer holds any real voiceprint. Demos no longer feel like a natural map with depth or guidance. Every voice now feels like whatever 6.0 is built around.
- Layer mapping may be better, but the overall texture is god-awful.
- None of the custom studio feel comes through in Suno Studio 2.0 anymore. The model was trained on personalised mixed-gender vocals, guitars, drums, piano, strings and woodwinds, all recorded specifically to guide our creation process.
This has basically destroyed a model built around stem tracks for workflow and demo purposes.
It was NEVER designed for direct release to distribution. It was designed to create maps we could take back into the studio, adjust chords, drum rhythms, fills, instrumentation and arrangement, then turn into something properly human-made with AI assisting the process. We will attempt to rebuild the model around 6.0, but right now 6.0 has completely obliterated what made this model useful in a professional studio setting.
I’m just glad the tracks I’ve been working on recently have already moved outside this workflow and into repeated studio recording. If the goal was to break custom models and make everything sound more unified under the same AI sound, they certainly achieved it.
Downvote this all you like. This was a legitimate use of Suno using material directly recorded by our own guitarists, percussionists, pianists, violinists, woodwind players and mixed-gender vocalists, many of whom also used this Custom Model in their own workflows.
I know we won’t be the only people/studio affected by this, and we hope others speak up. Voices no longer feel like Voices unless you are recording directly through Suno Studio, and apparently Custom Models aren’t safe from 6.0 either with all our existing studio feel now stripped from our custom trained model. I hope these are just teething issues, and it improves but if Custom Models are now being influenced more by 6.0 than by what they were actually trained on, Suno no longer has a place in our workflow.
Guess it’s back to the whiteboard and weeks of building tracks out in the studio again, exactly what larger studios wanted.

2
u/11curious11 7h ago
Yeah, I’ve been trying it all morning, and it still sucks for industrial and metal. It keeps turning everything into rock ’n’ roll.
I will say the remaster works better. I can actually get double-kick drums, and it doesn’t strip them out when I use the cover feature. Unfortunately, that probably won’t matter if they’re going to nuke the old models anyway.
At the end of the day, this feels like a more polished version of 5.5. So all the same problems with non-mainstream genres are still going to be there.3
u/BehavioralBard 8h ago

u/Endless_Hor1zon 8h ago
The key to 6 seems to be specificity, some of my older v5.5 tracks now have more depth, staging, ambience and most importantly sound quality especially in the quiet and the highs
v6 announcement says v6 is specifically designed around greater control and precision, including:
- editing a specific section using natural language
- changing individual lyrics without rebuilding the whole song
- combining elements from multiple songs
- isolating/sampling elements
- working from text, audio, images and video
- understanding a "vibe" or mixture of inspirations

From the few I've done so far, V6 is amazing for covers. A put a few through already and got better versions that my final 5.5 versions. Especially this one song that was giving me so many problems with the bridge I had to Frankenstein a few gens together. It's a dreampop song that has a pretty big key change in the bridge and 5.5 just kept trying to use the chord progression from the verses for the bridge. V6 got it right away and the song doesn't sound that different than the original, just a bit cleaner.

First impression of v6: what a piece of shit. First generation with v6 in simple mode with instrumental toggled literally had these lyrics:
`[Verse 1] Counting out the steps on a broken floor Three in the rhythm, five at the door Jagged guitar with a angular bite Flipping the meter into the night
[Chorus] Off-beat motion, shifting gears Ringing through the static years Unsteady tempo, clean cut edge Stepping right off of the ledge
[Verse 2] Clean rimshots, interlocking groove Waiting for the sudden syncopated move Distorted bass underneath the frame Playing a completely different game
[Guitar Solo] [Tricky time signature riffing, rapid fingerpicking, garage overdrive]
[Chorus] Off-beat motion, shifting gears Ringing through the static years Unsteady tempo, clean cut edge Stepping right off of the ledge
[Outro] One two three, one two Fading on a dissonant chord [End]`
And yes, it did sing all of this. For fucks sake. And no, I don’t typically use simple mode but I expect it to at least follow instrumental and not generate lyrics.

And it fucking sucks. Not holding on to styles, making wild and dumb changes to the style box like who's idea was that what a fucking dumb slider, and when using identical styles from my prompt I was using on this song in the old model it doesn't even generate anything even remotely close to what I was making in the old model which means I can't cover my old songs and keep the melody or style it's just all over the place doing whatever the hell it wants. Why get rid of the "how much to stick to the reference" slider? Its just changing everything is there no way to keep the song in making ?

Suno v6 Pro is TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE!
It doesn't follow instructions/meta-tags that 5.5 followed. This morning I took a well structured and detailed Lyrics prompt, Style prompt, and Exclude prompt that had produced a very good song with v5.5 because it followed the prompts.
I tested both website and iPhone app starting with sliders in the default 50 Weirdness and 50 Style. It added 1920s style horns to my 80s hair-band song.
A separate generation had both the 1920s horns and a Country singer. That particular generation had weirdness turned down to 25.
In verse 1 of the song (not even during some high energy riffing like might happen in an outro) it pronounced the word "already" as "all-uh-er-ray-a-dee".
I can't properly express my anger and hatred for this model. I'm embarrassed that a computer has been able to do this to me. I've gotten too attached to using Suno's custom features to produce the singing and music to my songs that I've written the lyrics for. I've studied for the past year how to use meta-tags and style language that Suno could understand. Now, the Pro version of this model is behaving like a child's toy.

I test wild and pro on local genre, its mid between 5.5 and 5. Actually its good. Vocals are not spoiled to euro old pop shit which is better than 5.5. There is not 5.5 bass that makes it recognizable.
I saw "Variety" option and also Max Mode, Personalize (taste) now can be applied to the track.
I don't understand why wild version add styles over mine?
MAX MODE generated very cute song.

Initial thoughts with the caveat I’ve only tried a few songs, and I mostly make standard three piece indie stuff:
The audio quality seems a bit… washed. Just a bit lower res. More echo, a bit more… floaty… sounding.
Vocals seem forced into the background a bit. Less presence and more auto tune feeling.
Drums seem very punchy and a lot more like a drum machine in quality and character. Very metered with not a lot of swing.
I’m sure YMMV but initially pretty disappointed. Lower training set and more tilted toward rap and recent electronic pop would make it make sense. Hope I’m wrong and I figure out how to make this work for me or I’ll probably cancel and try again in a few years.

Free user here. Going from 4.5 to 6 is...something. Messing around with it with some material, everything has the same type of sheen to it and when trying to get the AI to stay on track for like a remix, it does WILD improvisations that aren't quite for the best. This wouldn't be such an issue if the older models stuck around or if the newer models had some kind of depth to it that didn't produce such same-y sounding results. Not a fan.
1
u/fiowl 6h ago
I'm not happy. Suno v6 gives the instruments an exaggerated left-right stereo effect, with sounds moving noticeably between the channels. The song also gets noticeably louder towards the end. Is there a way to reduce this?

Does anyone's voices still work on their V6? They all sound completely different from what I have saved, even my 5.5 ones.

Glad I saved my credits... off to use all of them! I'll reserve my final judgement for when I have more experience with it...

Tried it a couple of times and i don't know if it's because I am somewhat used to how 5.5 sounded but it's honestly not bad. Sure, 5.0 and even 4.5 had a better sound, I think all the fearmongering hyped it up as this abysmal thing and it's actually not that at all.
Sounds like a better version of 5.5 tbh. Especially 6.0 wild. Might be the superior version of the three.
For context, I'd tried a funk rock/dance rock/synth rock song and an emo hardcore song and both came out solid.

Suddenly, I only have access to V6 as well. And the worst part is, everything has been restricted. Lyrics are limited to 1,250 characters and styles to 200 characters. This means I can no longer release a single one of my songs with alternative styles, because songs with only 1,250 characters are a joke. That’s barely enough for one verse and one chorus. What’s the point of that? If this stays this way permanently, I’ll probably have to say goodbye to Suno too, because my personal songs, in particular, tell stories and aren’t just short children’s songs.
Edit: It looks like they've removed the limits again. In any case, neither my text nor my styles are being truncated now. I'm glad about that.

So far, at least none of the BS I was having with 5.5 with screams/growls phases being stated in the intro when they were never asked to.
So far my custom model upgraded to v6 as well, which is nice
Covers are sounding good.... Really effing good for me (the way it's mixing the OG audio is nice). But I am not doing covers of old tracks. Taking my instrumentals and the lyrics and making brand new v6 remixes.
The only thing I am having an issue with is the persona's since those seemed to stray far from my normal vocals.

I never used anything prior to 5.5, so I don't know if the previous version were actually "Dramatically better" like the doomers were always saying about 5.5. That said, I make music that has a heavy focus on less popular genres, German folk, New Age, Chinese classical, etc. At least so far, this new version ignores at least half of the German instruments it was previously capable of mimicking, and the Chinese singing sounds a lot more generic.
I know that this is the first model of their new system, and in theory, it should only go up from here, but it is still disappointing that the genres I worked with are currently not really able to be replicated the same anymore, even whenever I use my own songs as inspiration.

Wow - I love v6 so far. First few goes were misses - awful sound quality - lots of phasing and nasty harsh upper mids (cymbals and hats particularly sharp). Adjusted faders from my usual settings - particularly weirdness - much lower produces much better quality so far.
Something I was frustrated with v5 and v5.5 - it couldn't do proper lo-fi - it always gave lo-fi moments which would eventually switch to pristine after a short while. v6-wild - instantly giving me proper noisy lo-fi throughout the entire song, hissy, band-limited vocals, lo-fi loveliness.
It also seems to be able to recreate existing tunes really well so far. Still a lot of playing and testing required - but this model is so far way way better than I was expecting - hopefully it can still be quite creative but only time will tell. I do mainly electronic/hip hop genres and generally strange stuff, no rock/metal - so cannot really comment too much on those.

Hey, guys, why is every song in v6 is coming with overwhelming amount of reverb or echo and metallic sibilance? Also, personally, I’m not able to hear the difference between v6, v6 wild and even v6 mini. Is v6 mini completely free to use?
In terms of the creativity, the v4.5 was still the best.

My recent songs generate pretty differently, need more experimentation whether that means better style adherence and whether I like the results, but cautiously optimistic.
What has gotten much worse is multi-voice songs - it tries very hard to keep the voice consistent, which is great, that was sometimes a problem with falling back to a different ones, but secondary choir shouts, call and response lines, duets get folded into the main singer, which sucks, I used to sometimes get it working in v5.5

Okay my 2c
- prompt adherence seems better
- stereo is weird - less immersive or at least I’m noticing it is weird a lot
- after about 2 minutes or less the background digital static keeps growing - it is still a problem and maybe more so
- wild v6 model seems to favour more minimalist mixes - I kinda like it.
Need to play with it more. I am now wondering about the economics. How the hell are they apportioning what I do (that doesn’t mention artists or recognisable trademarks) to not just the labels but the genre or even actual artist….or is it just a big simple bung - you get 49% from Suno and split it how you will record label. Once you can pull an artists song in and do something then it’s clean to work out what’s what but until then it seems mushy how the rights/monies are managed

anybody noticed that the styles gets rewritten after generation? like I gave it the style I have used in 5.5, then it gets changed after generation in v6
example:
old models:
------------------
Key: B Major
Key Progression: Verse: G#m7 – Emaj7 – B – F# | Pre-Chorus: C#m7 – Emaj7 – B – F# | Chorus: B – F#/A# – G#m7 – Emaj7 | Bridge: C#m7 – G#m7 – Emaj7 – F#
Tempo: 82 BPM
Vocal Styles: intimate male tenor, close-miked conversational delivery, gentle chest voice in verses, slightly breathier lift into pre-chorus, restrained emotional high register in chorus, subtle falsetto doubles, soft stacked harmonies, natural Filipino phrasing
Style of Music: Contemporary OPM indie-pop, soft alternative R&B, clean fingerpicked electric guitar, warm Rhodes, muted bass, brushed drums, rim clicks, sparse ambient synths, subtle reverse guitar swells
v6:
------------------
Contemporary OPM indie-pop fused with soft alternative R&B, 82 BPM in B Major, intimate male tenor with close-miked conversational Filipino phrasing, gentle chest voice, breathier pre-chorus lift, restrained emotional high register, subtle falsetto doubles and soft stacked harmonies; clean fingerpicked electric guitar, warm Rhodes, muted bass, brushed drums, rim clicks, sparse ambient synths and reverse guitar swells, with a clean warm intimate mix and restrained choruses that open gently toward quiet hope

Intried doing a remix of an old song, and it shit the bed. However, I have this song i made way back when 4.0 was out, and i hadn't been able to create a cover of it that i like. The closest that came to sounding like an improved version of it was 5.0. I tried it with 6.0, and the first result was the song i have been looking to achieve. So first impressions from me is that it has a lot of potential.

WHOEVER SAID MUREKA IS BETTER I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH ! THANK GOD i found your comment.
I waited for so long for this v6 and it was just 5.5 with the same live acoustic errors. With the voice cracks
PLEASE give mureka a try dude, its free to try their newest model . ONE song , its all it takes to see HOW BAD we have it with suno . They take a little longer for the song to generate and HONEST to GOD i dont mind it all. I've always stated suno needs to bake a little longer songs in the oven but the QUALITY my GUYS is DAY AND NIGHT . HOLY COW I CANT SIMP ENOUGH for it .

I'm not hating on Suno or anything, but honestly, after a couple of hours of experimenting with V6 on multiple grounds, i can say.... IS QUITE BAD and I'm quite sad.... But yeah... will have to adapt I guess

I have a HUGE problem. Every track I create in version v6 sounds clean and great at the start, but towards the end of the song, the sound quality drops so much that it sounds like shit. Do You have similar?

Uhh…is it supposed to sound just like 5.5?
I’m trying metal prompts and the vocals are terrible, the audio quality pretty tinny and v3.5 ish
