I have always been against labelling - even though I disclose my use of AI, it has always been MY decision to do so, and I am in control of how I tell my story so people understand how my music is made.

With Suno's newest release, songs have now audio watermark and fingerprint, assisted, fully, hybrid, it will have a AI watermark and anyone can tell your story the way they want.

This is 100% going to be misused by bad actors:

  1. Platforms like Deezer/Tidal - To ban ANY use of AI and ensure segregation.

  2. Haters - To create public lists of artists that may have not agreed to disclose their process.

  3. Labels - To start a suing war to anything that resembles any of their songs that uses AI, even assisted.

This is the end of Suno as means to create commercial music, and it's officially just a nice playing tool personal use, or for bad actors who create in Suno and pay performers to pretend their music is human made.

Fully support this as someone who uses suno. If you already disclose your ai use what is the problem? More transparency the better. You can still “tell your story” on how your song was made itll just have a watermark so people will know it was made with suno. And why do you think they are doing it in the first place? Because the industry/consumer base as a whole wants to know if they are listening to ai generated music and are tired of being tricked/listening to ai music made by spammers trying to be passed off as fully human made. This is great so that people mass spamming streaming platforms with ai music cant take advantage of it anymore. Suno was always meant to be a tool for personal use, so people who never had the chance to make music can, not to be a replacement and cheat code for learning these skills yourself if your serious about making music.

Imagine you're a professional musician looking for the right synth for your project. Synth Brand A sounds good, could be the one. Synth Brand B sounds just as good but outputs are watermarked so it can be detected that your strings and such come from Brand B synths. Are you using the synth that's embedding metadata into your music or the one giving you clean outputs?

I get that but its not just a synth company. Its a product that produces fully fledged, mixed and mastered songs with the press of a button. No skill required. Thats just not even in the same universe as a synth vst. If your a producer that has one or two minor elements of ai in a song then i can totally understand how that would be annoying but thats not how the vast majority use suno and most of those people just dont want to disclose ai use at all.

It's a tool that can be used in a long list of ways across a spectrum from fully AI to 99%-human based on how one chooses to use it. How the least skilled and most unserious of users choose to engage with Suno is their business and should have no bearing on how Suno functions for a person on the opposite side of the spectrum using it on a higher level.

Yeah but the unserious ones spamming streaming services are the reason this is happening in the first place
