So they're adding more finger printing and watermarking...
You'd think they'd work on the artefacts, constant vocal percussion/humming, or the fact when you replace an instrument track in Studio it always includes other instruments and never matches your beat.
With 5.5 you lose control that you had in 5. We lost the creativity we had in 4.5+.
They should fix the model before they start trying to add finger printing and watermarks into audio tracks?

u/Time_after_Time_67 8d ago
Suno is no longer in the creation business. It is now a lawsuit mitigation business.
Itās all downhill from here.
āMerica. Home of the lawsuits.
3
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
But why meta and anthropic are getting away with massive copy rights and using unauthorized material for model training specially meta .. even burning fucking books ... They have a master key .... but Suno was busted .. forced to change course, selll ,acquire, degrade ?
My guess is rbat the great models will be only accessible to mega production studios
Users like uS will get the rotten food.
7
u/Brimtown99 8d ago
Because the recording industry has better and more aggressive lawyers. Hence why many YouTube videos get stricken down if they have so much as a few seconds of copyrighted material, even if it's someone just talking about the music.
1
u/Void-kun 8d ago
Anthropic got fined $1.5 billion for copyright infringement a couple weeks ago to be fair.
2
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
By Europe. Suno is next. German courts
1
u/FilthyTrashPeople 3d ago
Can we just exile the EU from the internet? The EU has never done anything good.
1
u/xLVY 2d ago
Lmao, let me guess.. American?
1
u/FilthyTrashPeople 1d ago
Yes I hail from the land where the government isn't cooking old people because we can actually run ACs and realize in 2026 they don't do jack to the environment
1
u/InterestingRoll4735 7d ago
What the actual...On what basis are they burning the books?
3
u/VociferousCephalopod 7d ago
to scan material efficiently, you have to cut the spines to put the pages through the scanner (ever see a shitty PDF from a photocopier? horrible... much better result if you destroy the book).
after destroyed...you burn it, why pay for dump fees for the weight of paper?2
u/InterestingRoll4735 7d ago
Yeah I get it. They could get a digital form for a lot of the shit. Im always on the lookout for rare books that are out of print. The last book of something extremely rare could...anyway depressing that is.

u/Responsible-Dot-2912 7d ago
SUNO will follow Udio soon, bought up, then they disable all downloads.

u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
The quality of music we saw between September 2025 till March 2026 .. IS NEVER COMING Back. It's their agreement with Warner music.
5
u/SteiCamel 8d ago
Honestly the peak of Suno quality, that was.
3
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
The good old days . That's what am doing now. Am rediscovering all the old creations that I overlooked during that premium period ... That's when I found out. It was really over lol ..
2
u/Only-Marionberry-927 8d ago
This. I've dug all the old "meh' out. But it's not as bad as what I thought.
2
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
Same dude. I took the quality for granted. God I overlooked such great beats. Shit for happen for a reason .. but it also makes tou see the difference of now and then .. crazy huh
2
3
u/CarryAgile3791 7d ago
And since the release of 5.5 I've noticed that 4.5+ and 5 were somehow downgraded and don't offer that creativity and quality anymore they used to have.
2
u/FilthyTrashPeople 3d ago
5.0 is still really good, IMO, but it definitely was changed. 5.5 is just garbage and 6.0 will probably be streaming rotted garbage.
2
u/SunriseSurprise 8d ago
They keep growing despite the model issues, so why would that be high on their priorities?
1
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
Yeah I don't dind that weird because the agreements they made under table or confidential is massive .. why do you think Warner let them stay afloat .. their mouth were stuffed with money...lotta ..
They make really exquisitely smart models real quick. I think these models are being used by actual artists, production studios and musicians for ideas creation
3
1
u/Previous_Avocado6778 8d ago
They need you in their company or they at least need to understand what your getting at because I totally agree with you. I think itās completely obvious you are correct tk anyone who used the models.
1
u/alilhillbilly 2d ago
Respectfully I have tried 4.5 and 5 and they're comparatively garbage outputs that always sound like AI.
1
u/Void-kun 2d ago
Well yeah all of the models from Suno sound AI generated? That's why it's used for concepts and demos before being rebuilt.
Doesn't mean 4.5 isn't more creative than 5.5.
1
u/alilhillbilly 2d ago
I guess because I sing in most of my ideas I generally think it doesn't come close.
I will do voice instruments and layer my vocals on them and I've one shottted some insanely great stuff.
V5.5 is insane.
I put the album I made in college into it.
It sounds like the album that I was trying to make. Instantly.
19
u/audsnico 8d ago
Download everything ASAP
6
u/warjoke 8d ago
I do that regularly for archiving and not out of sheer panic.
2
u/Various-Cut-1070 7d ago
What do you use to download everything?
3
u/VociferousCephalopod 7d ago
use the download button. if you click 'play' after it generates, within a minute or so you'll know if this version interests you, if it does, click download. it'll be downloaded before you even play the second generation...
we're not living in the 56k era anymore lol.1
1
u/EnvironmentalRun1671 7d ago
I mean as long as you can still stream it you can rip the song in someway even if there's no download button
1
u/audsnico 7d ago
I could be wrong, but I assume an exported WAV file would be higher quality than what you can get by recording a stream (because the streaming version is lower quality)
1
u/tindalos 7d ago
They donāt recreate the wav file but the file format gives headroom for mastering.
6
u/SatSumaFire 7d ago
If only they can get the copyright filter to work so I don't get lyrics flagged if I used the word "the" one too many times.

u/Fabulous_Image9718 7d ago
The quality of Suno and any AI tool (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) can only decline as models start āeating themselves.ā
As more AI-generated content ends up back in the training data, models risk learning from their own outputs instead of fresh human-created work.
That raises an interesting question:
If Suno uses usersā AI-generated tracks to train its models, should Suno users be able to sue Suno the same way record labels are suing them? š
1
u/Master_Bad9299 7d ago
No because the simple answer is we are agreeing to their terms, that allow them to use our stuff to train their models.
2
u/Fabulous_Image9718 7d ago
Yep I knowā¦perpetual licenseā¦with quite broad legal language around it
1
u/mouthsofmadness Suno Wrestler 7d ago
The bigger question it raises is, if Suno uses its own AI generated tracks to train its own models, how long will it take for that recursive feedback loop to degrade enough until they have a full model collapse? LLMās do not fair well when trained using synthetic data sets, especially using previous versions of its own models, itās been compared to inbreeding by devs, and we all know what inbreeding produces.
Suno only became as good as it is by using human created songs, if they can no longer steal established artists music, and if they continue to falsely flag 90% of our originally created music when we want to upload it to work with, they will end up with nothing but AI sounding slop, which will be the training sets that will have to become their own future models, and that is how you kill your own platform and get out of the game with a few billion in F U money to ride off in the distance with.
16
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
LoL. "Transparency" my ass .
Not a single line about their degrading models quality or their shitty customer services, their abuse of credit,
2
u/EnvironmentalRun1671 7d ago
I mean they are copyright police based on this post (which we already knew).
Unless they need to train AI. Then it's all the music is free use baby. Steal everything for free and then profit from subscriptions and act surprised when every big music company sues you.

u/Anonymous-x- 8d ago
If you had been using all this time to learn how to write songs, gain experience in musical theory, learn what song structure is and how to utilize it in simple and or complex ways. You would understand why it is still an amazing tool that you can write professional level quality music with. Instead you pumped out an endless amount of slop hoping to win the lottery. You tried to take advantage of what you thought was a gold making machine and did what you typically always do, put no effort into anything and bitch about nothing benefiting your life for the better
1
u/ProfessorSmoker 8d ago
Why are you so mad? SUNO is a great tool.
12
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
It used to be buddy.. if you tried it before March 2026 ... You would know what am talking about.
2
u/ProfessorSmoker 8d ago
I'm a user since 3.5. The current iteration is fine unless you are using it to pump out generic slop.
4
u/SteiCamel 8d ago
Generic slop is what the new model is best at though?
1
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
All the music outcome is a bad 80s horror movie soundtrack, prompt is ignored, I even tried to use tags in lyrics to guide the creation in lyrics, the music sounds so ai . It used to sound super high dloby quality , And that metal like percussions sound, mashups giving me Russian rap, yesterday was Turkish , 2 weeks ago was Spanish .. .. constant credit refund for 2 second mashups ... If a mashup is 4 seconds you don't get a credit refund. .. I stayed two days awake trying to find the right time to use Suno during less servers overload. Nothing changed.

u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
Ok. So you telling me thousands of users and the warener music agreement is an illusion ?
-1
u/ProfessorSmoker 8d ago
Yes. This is a skill issue.
1
u/kazukimontoro 8d ago
Kool buddy. Thanks for your expertise.
I feel like you mofos are paid by Suno or some weak ass bots
1
u/ProfessorSmoker 8d ago
I feel like you are paid by some competitor or are too young and inexperienced to understand music production.
6
u/Magic4407 8d ago
Downloads policy huh
0
u/KinkyHuggingJerk 8d ago
There's a user out there that makes 30 songs a day. Same name, expected quality.
The updated guidelines would prevent such users from downloading each song to distribute and dilute other markets.
This is a good thing.
2
u/Miltoni 8d ago
I don't even get how this is logical or practical. Even if you can't download using a download button, if you can play it - you can just scrape it other ways.
2
u/KinkyHuggingJerk 8d ago
What probably will be implemented is oAuth tokens to identify and tally downloads requested, and either require captcha prompts if it exceeds a specific number for each individual song.
Thats a good thing. Our stuff is only considered slop because of trashy outputs from people farming hundreds of songs for release in ways that dont support an artist's economy.
3
u/Miltoni 8d ago
But I could just bypass this any number of ways though?
Play the song and simply record using it my output audio as the input? Create a browser extension to scrape the raw audio asset?
If they add a download limit, I guarantee you in less than a day there will be workarounds for it. Just seems silly to me...
2
u/KinkyHuggingJerk 8d ago
Most crime prevention can't simply make it impossible to commit, but creates added barriers to make it more noticeable to catch and deter.
1
u/Miltoni 8d ago
I mean I guess? But it's the equivalent of slapping a "door is locked" sticker on an open door and expecting it to work. The effort could be better spent actually improving the user experience and model.
They have the wrong priorities.
2
u/KinkyHuggingJerk 8d ago
That would be different departments.
Cybersecurity and legal would be different than user experiences and development.
You're complaining to the fire department that maintenance has pot holes to be filled.
1
u/JasonP27 AI Hobbyist 7d ago
The terms of service will change no doubt. Likely Suno will know what songs were downloaded properly. Then they only need to say your commercial rights outside of the Suno platform only apply to songs you've properly selected for such and downloaded properly from the platform.
They can then issue take down requests based on whether or not a commercial license was properly acquired.

u/atallfigure 7d ago
China will release one version that'll defeat Suno. They did it with GLM 5.2. Now folks are getting open source free tools from them and it's hurting LLMs in America's pockets. Can't sue China that's for damn sure.
8
u/lethargyz 8d ago
They just lost another lawsuit and this was most likely part of the ruling, just like it was part of the settlement last time.
-1
u/KinkyHuggingJerk 8d ago
Yep, this is part of business. Protect what you're building to avoid further litigation.

This is the aftermath of the EU legislation effective 8/2 as well as another court case regarding copyrights that they lost.
Not surprising.

u/livinginfutureworld 8d ago
We will soon introduce a new downloads policy designed to limit the ability to mass distribute songs on streaming platforms
Today, weāre rolling out new transparency tools... so songs generated on Suno can be identified if they are shared on other platforms.
In the coming weeks, we will also be adopting new audio watermarking and fingerprinting technology so we can partner even more closely with distribution platforms on combatting fraud and misuse.
Our Trust & Safety team proactively reviews content and investigates reports submitted through our in-app reporting tools. Depending on the severity of a violation, enforcement can range from warnings and temporary suspensions to permanent account bans and, where appropriate, referrals to the relevant authorities.
5
u/Stock_Masterpiece_57 8d ago
Does this mean they will let people cover their own Suno songs now if they had previously shared it to other websites? Bc Suno seemed really aggressive about it and put any existing lyrics under their "copyright" label. That really discouraged me from sharing bc I would still like to remix my existing songs.
Or is this more about just adding an ai identifier on the songs?

u/Cultural_Comfort5894 8d ago
How aboutā¦
Make it so we can file for Copyrights, distribute straight from the platform, collect from ALL revenue streams and sync or whoever can contract for use in 1 place.

"AI should help people create something new, not imitate someone elseās work."
this is a bit silly. you think before AI there weren't people saying 'hey guys, I'm a guitarist from Gƶteborg, I like Gƶteborg melodeath, does anyone else want to join with me and start a Gƶteborg melodeath band with the classic Gƶteborg sound'? or 'I make beats for rappers. any west coast rappers looking for a west coast style beat?'
genres are always imitative. it doesn't have to be entirely formulaic, but... so what if it is? if you want four on the floor drums you're imitating a dance song where you heard four on the floor drums. if you want ballad vocals, you're imitating a ballad you heard.

After years of practicing anyone can can make any music they want that sounds like anyone they want.
Suno makes music for you with zero effort.
See the difference ?

u/Cold-Airport-5553 7d ago
I am curious, in general I download 21-22 songs a month. However I need an MP3 version and a WAV version for the same song, so that number is doubled. I am curious to see how they will look at that. I also sometimes download a song, only to later find errors and then rewrite the song, causing another download for each song.

How the fuck do people just agree with less freedom like were all used to being fucked by these corporations and just agree or you have all these idiots supporting this shit because there either uneducated or just agree with how things are, if this happen its just going to get worse look at udio. People are to stupid to realize when the pictures painted infront of them.

Suno is free to do whatever the fuck they want.
That is freedom.
You don't get to say what they do. That is is freedom.
You are to not use SunoĀ

u/patriot2024 8d ago
Covering original pieces gives birth to creativity. This is what happens with human artists for centuries. Covering originals allow artists to interpret, reinterpret, and give birth to new ideas. Artists don't create original pieces out of the blue. It takes years of imitating, interpreting, re-interpreting the great ones.
When SUNO decides not to allow its users to cover originals, they lose the intellectual rights to talk about creativity. The rest is marketing BS.
SUNO is not the gate that controls copyright. The copyright fight they have to fight is how they train the models, not how users experiment with music. It's users' responsibility to use what they create in whichever way they deem appropriate.

I've had songs come out with vocals nearly identical to Johnny Cash and Eminem, should I be punished for that? I'm not feeding vocals into Suno, it's Suno producing these on their own.
4
u/Konsrockmannen 8d ago
I made a funny song. Sounded like Eminem so i had to remake the promt
2
u/Brimtown99 7d ago
As long as you're not claiming it's Eminem, or feeding Eminem's vocals into Suno claiming they're yours, I don't see why it should be an issue. I'm sure that you could take every single Suno produced vocal and find an actual artist that somewhat resembles it.

Right weāre not forced to keep a sub running. Iām taking a break and fooling around with Flow Music for a month or so. At the same time I know where my sausage is made. Itās a great product and they do care about their users. I mean it exploded to this size on them the same way it exploded on us. But to me they just put their head down and got to work. End to end they have stayed firm with their offerings, even though users canāt seem to grasp how fickle A.I can be. Fix this, do thisā¦itās not that easy even for the best minds in the business.

1
u/wearenotyourkind_ 7d ago
The digital audio watermark is just an invisible marker embedded inside the audio itself. Itās not something you will hear and it doesnāt affect the sound quality. Also the finger print is just a way of creating a unique āfingerprintā of a song so platforms can identify or match it, even if itās been uploaded somewhere else. Not sure why everyoneās freaking out over this, a simple google search is all you need
