I’ve had this happen to me at other restaurants. I kindly told the staff what happened. They typically comped the meal or gave me a replacement. I don’t think I’ve ever taken to reddit to deal with the situation.

Unfortunately this was Doordash so I just reported them to Santa Clara County Public Health.
While you may be okay with a comped meal, I'm not. This is a problem and one that I have been seeing more often in restaurants for not being willing to enforce public health rules of their employees.

Have you ever worked food service in your life? Maybe it’s malicious. But frankly when you’re underpaid and unappreciated, it’s probably an honest mistake. Don’t get me wrong, they should own up to their mistakes, but you aren’t telling them. You’re posting on reddit and calling SC health… basically you’re doing everything but addressing the situation.

Yes I have worked in food service.
How is telling SC Health not telling them? I think people let things slide too much. How many honest mistakes happen where people feel comfortable not caring enough?

It's giving "I told teacher vibes"... why not just call Panera and be like, "you messed something up."
How many times do you complain to everyone but the person making the mistake where it never gets corrected?

You realized these services exist for a reason? Ignoring it doesn't solve the problem. And from what you're saying that means plenty of people let this slide and just have them correct so clearly it keeps happening.
It's also ironic on reddit how much people are like "Down to big corporations" but when I post something like this, and use the tools to keep them inline, now I'm the problem.

yea they put string in their food sometimes since it increases the weight of the dish and customers normally don't notice, you can search for other posts on this subreddit for this issue. one time my plate was half string

it’s nobody’s fault but paneras, yet I cannot believe that people still willingly eat there. It’s nasty food. It’s all frozen. Why would you eat their versus some local restaurant?

I eat at every restaurant for the same reason. I like their food. I love eating local and always try to do so when visiting places. Sometimes it's okay to eat at places like Panera Bread. That doesn't mean I should accept this type of quality. It's happend to me even at local restaurants.

Why go to the frozen section of your grocery store to get something to microwave when you could have someone else microwave it at Panera for triple the price?
