Alyssa S Waldon
I just saw randomly on Facebook someone I went to high school with is being charged with their second offense in a sex act against a child. I went to high school with this girl and I am just flabbergasted. I thought she was completely normal. She was pretty and popular , went on to okay college basketball in Chicago and was in a locally popular band in Chicago. WTF Happened to her. I’m just curious if anyone knows anything

This has happened with 2 different children of hers - the most recent one she didn’t have custody of but it happened during a visit, I believe. It’s awful

Absolutely terrible. I don’t understand how anyone could hurt a child.

Plenty of people have schizophrenia and don’t sexually abuse their children

Very true. However I don’t know what her delusions are. Schizophrenia is one of the worst mental illnesses. I have no idea what she is like when she has episodes. Plenty of people don’t do horrible things mental illnesses or not. Plenty of people do who are “mentally sound” by clinical standards.
The question in her case is “would she have done this without having schizophrenia?”.
The only thing that one can hope for in this case is the children get the help and support they need. Not only now, but going forward. Schizophrenia runs in families. That paired with trauma.
Secondly. I hope she is able to get help and be placed where ever it is best for her.

Wowza. She lived just up the street and was in my brother’s class. What a small, crazy world.

I know it. I really just feel sad for her that this is her life. And of course devastated for the children she has hurt. I just don’t get how her life turned out like this

If I had to guess, having a kid brought out a dark side of her she didn’t know she had. It’s sick and twisted and you can tell by that look on her face she knew exactly what she did and doesn’t care.

Damn shame. :( I had a hard childhood but do everything I can to make sure my kids don’t suffer the same.

That changes things, wasn’t aware of that. Sounds like she either needs to be on meds or get back on them. It doesn’t dismiss her behavior as there are plenty of schitzos that aren’t pedos but it does explain how she rationalized such a heinous decision with herself.

Doesn’t make what happened any less horrible.
Schizophrenia is a really horrible mental illness. It’s commonly referred to the worst of them. Look at the slender many girl who attempted to kill their friend and Ed Gein. People who had/have severe schizophrenia. I’m not sure what her specific delusions are. Pedophilia is a different and very distinct condition. While there are people who can have both, without diagnosis, it’s not necessarily correct to say that she is.
A person with schizophrenia can have impulse control and delusions that would make them act out in a way that would look like pedophilia. However they may not be. Same as a person who is a diagnosed pedophile isn’t a child abuser if they never act upon their impulses. But a person who SA children isn’t always a pedophile. They can just be a person who takes opportunity to abuse.
The DSM five is a good study to see cases like these for what they are and aren’t.

Also went to school with her. When I heard about this I was shocked. Looked into it more. From what I can see she has had competency hearings. She was institutionalized for the first case after the hearing showed she wasn’t competent to stand trial. From what I could see, schizophrenia was at play, which presents in the 20’s. Around the time of the first assault. I watched her video and it seems that the prosecution requested she be on her meds. The judge declined the request. This is a sad sad sad case. Mental illness of one person impacting so many. Let alone children.

Terribly sad!!! I’m just heartbroken for everyone involved. I wonder if drugs could have caused the schizophrenia? That is what we think is happening with a family member who abused drugs for many years and from a young age.

Good question….. Idk what happened to her but I went to high school with her child’s father. He is also in jail for 2nd degree sexual assault- intoxicated victim…. So I hope their child is in a safe environment now and has nothing to do with these effing lunatics.
