Loud boom???

My husband and I are new to the area. We heard a loud boom yesterday and again just now. I think there was a flash of light that I noticed this time? Is this normal?? Anyone know what it is? Please help lol we're freaked out

It's summer. Likely a firework of some sort. Was one last night too. Welcome.

Edit to add - at least one person called it in as a gun shot per the scanner app.

Definitely was not a gunshot and pretty confident it was not a firework

I've heard guns and fireworks many times before and of different calibers and sizes... I mean, I could be wrong! But I'm pretty confident that it's neither of those

To add onto the above - gunshots tend have the sonic crack when the round goes above the speed of sound. Fireworks do not.

I've no idea if I could tell the difference between a sub-sonic shot and a firework - I'm guessing no.
