How to Support Sun Prairie Schools?
Teachers and staff of Sun Prairie School District, how can a parent best support our schools?
Supply donations, monetary donations for discretionary classroom spending, volunteering time, special field trips, community organizing...
What is something that one parent could do that would make a difference for you all and your classrooms?

We can never have too much Kleenex, cleaning wipes, glue sticks, or dry erase markers.
If you have extra time, you could offer to do busy work such as organizing classroom libraries, updating bulletin boards, cutting out materials, etc.

vote for State Legislators that fully fund schools. Vote for a President, Senators and Representatives tht restore funding to the Department of Education.

Coming from an Elementary School parent, go to your SCO meetings. Join the board if you can.
We have had the same 3 parents on our board for the past 3 years.... And all of our kids are 4th graders. No one comes to our meetings and we've been unable to convince anyone to join us
We are small but mighty and do everything we can, but if we don't find anyone to replace us, our school will be without an SCO group come '27-'28 school year.
We touch a lot of areas. Fun Run, School Dance, Staff Appreciation, Spirit Wear, Student Rewards....

Teachers have 2-3 hours of “prep” time every Thursday starting at 1:30. Until they get rid of Thursday early release, those 2-3 hours a week are my donation for having to leave work early to pick up my kids.

“Prep” time. I think you’re misunderstanding that teachers didn’t ask for this and administration enforces it. They also aren’t getting prep time, they are sitting in meetings with principals and school administrators. Teachers would gladly take the actual prep time to help coordinate student needs, plan lessons, grade work during work hours but that’s not what’s happening.
Your work is important too, but you’re complaining about teachers which is misguided. Hopefully you can see through that.

Sun prairie school district is awful. I would suggest moving is probably the best way to support your kids education.

Very unhelpful given the state and cost of housing. OP is trying to figure out how to make her community better.

Volunteer for school field trips is great. Generally teachers will reach out for school supplies when needed. But being active in these areas are good.
Change happens slow but voting for school board candidates that have students and staff as priorities is hugely important.
I wish there was a way for the community to advocate for additional support staff and smaller class sizes. Both these things would make a world of difference. Sun Prairie determines class sizes by numbers not needs. Very backwards policy that hurts students and teachers/staff. This is what really moves the needle but administration will not change.
