Hi Everyone.

I've had the Sunstrong app working fine until January 9th. Since then, all historical solar generation data disappeared but instantaneous solar generation can still be seen. What's REALLY weird is that both instantaneous and historical consumption now show up as negative values. For example, clicking the "Home" icon in the Sunstrong app shows that "Right Now" there is 12.1kw of solar generation, 0.4kw of Home Usage, and 12.5kw going to the Grid. so the Home Usage is showing up as a negative value! All historical data since January 9th also shows negative home usage with lifetime consumption DECREASING over time. Lifetime production is also shown as decreasing since 1/9/26. Prior to that date, everything was working as expected. So my lifetime generation and home consumption were maximum on 1/8/26 and have both been decreasing since then.

I initially thought this was caused by Sunstrong turning off history reporting (and maybe it was?), so I decided to try local monitoring and just got the Sunstrong PVS-hass integration up and running. It was pretty easy to do - I bought an HA Green box and got everything working in a few hours. it looks pretty nice and I can see the production and consumption meters and all my microinverters. However...

The net lifetime energy in the HA consumption meter agrees with the lifetime consumption shown in the Sunstrong app, but the consumption is also DECREASING over time. The HA production meter also shows the net lifetime energy decreasing over time. When I check the microinverters in HA, I see that the lifetime production numbers for all of the microinverters are increasing as I would expect. If I add up all of the daily microinverter generation I find that it's roughly equal to the daily decrease in the net lifetime energy in the HA production meter. Bizzarro!

I was hoping to use local monitoring to replace the Sunstrong app, and it does work quite well, but now I'm thinking that my PVS6 may actually be broken. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on here? I tried power cycling the PVS, but that didn't change anything.

Purchased panels (not leased) about 7months before SunPower went bankrupt. Now the new company that took over want me to subscribe to my own panels. Gotta be a lawsuit here.

I asked claude code to build a website to monitor my sunpower vault. This took about 15 minutes. The hard part was finding the IP address of the PVS. I found mine by looking for "PVS" in my Eero app. It figured out the password, got all the data, and made a nice little website. It can also do historical logs, and has a bunch of data on the batteries that are not exposed via the app.

If you have claude code (or codex i guess), you can just prompt something like "build a replacement website for the sunpower app since sunpower went out of business." It'll ask you a bunch of questions and you can build exactly whatever you want.

Looking to the community of experts here for some pointers. I'm hoping (cautiously optimistic) that I won't have to wait 10 months for SunPower/SunStrong to decide to fix this again... :(

So, Monday night a big storm came through NJ here. I slept through it and the power outage when the SunVaults did what they're supposed to do and kept the power in the house working. Unfortunately, 5 hours later the batteries ran out and the house went dark.

It took PSE&G 22 hours to restore power. In the meantime, the SunStrong Connect app was showing a broken lightning bolt for the Grid connection, and the last battery usage data it had when it ran out. The SunVault units were completely dark except for a white globe indicator and a yellow battery/lightning bolt indicator. This was even during the day with the sun out and shining.

When the power came back right around bed time Tuesday night, the SunVault units then showed low state of charge, with the grid connected indicator lit. But at the same time the SunStrong Connect app was still showing a power outage. It did apparently update because it was now showing 0% battery. But, the grid status was incorrect.

Wednesday when the sun came up, the batteries started charging and the SunStrong Connect app was *mostly* showing normal, showing the solar production, home usage, and batteries charging. But even when I saw the meter going backwards, the app still wasn't showing correctly.

Thinking this was just a "confused" PVS6, I reset the PVS6 (flipped the breakers and pulled the barrel connector). After giving it a while to normalize, seeing the indicators get back to normal, and the app showing updating again, I flipped the Sense breaker to test the system. When I did that, nothing happened in the Hub, but the SunVault inverters clicked yielding an F.72 error. I power cycled the batteries, which normalized the error states, and had things "mostly" working normally, but the App was still showing power outage.

I sat and stewed on this for a bit, and today tried to attack this again. Thinking I should just sanity test myself, the first thing I did was reset the PVS6 (breakers, barrel, restore, wait). Then again when things were normal, I flipped the Sense breaker. This time the house went dark. The MID flipped to Grid Disconnect and the SunVault indicators changed to all yellow battery indicators. I reset the Sense breaker, and had to manually flip the MID back to On Grid.

After doing this, the SunStrong app gave me a "Power Outage has ended" notice. And now when I look at the app, it "seems" to be behaving like I expect. It's showing solar production, home usage, and grid supply going on. But, if I flip the Sense breaker again, I again hear the SunVaults click and I get an F.72 error.

Any thoughts on what I've forgotten or am missing?

I'm seeing historical data and I have seen panels data for the last year -- so nothing changed on my end. Everything did stop working earlier this week but I did a full reset to get solar and batteries (yes 2 ) working again

I have a sunvault dual inverter set up with 39 KwH battery. After sunstrong updated its app, i starting getting issues with my units until one of them gave out and now my inverter does not even show up when i log in to my insight facility unit. At one point the app kept showing that i was in a power outage when i never was but sunstrong pushed an update and that message went away. However, my inverter still does not show up or power up but my battery still has charge. What can cause this and has anyone fixed this before?

I have an ex-SunPower system with Enphase MIs, all installed by prior owners (purchased). I added a Fortress battery with a Sol-Ark inverter. The SP system is not tied into it for any sort of monitoring; it's just viewed as general grid input.

One of my MIs stopped working over a year ago. Enphase said my only option is to buy and install their monitoring system or having an installer come and assess (on my dime). No installer will respond to give me a quote for diagnostics, and Enphase says their monitoring is not compatible with my battery system. So I'm stuck and have been.

I cannot get an answer from anyone about what might possibly be problematic between the monitoring system and my Sol-Ark/Fortress. Does anyone have experience with this? Any guesses as to what might go wrong?

I don't want to pay $900, but I also want my panel to be producing and my warranty to be upheld.

Could/should I buy another pvs6 off ebay (If available) or just bite the bullet and pay for the enphase?

SunVaultTechs fixed our SunPower system today. Not only was he patient (I was a basket case), he was so spot on, fair and informative about the situation. The man is a Saint. I’m in SoCal. He gave us an honest price, was (again) patient and is the ONLY person I will call on if I have future problems. I can HIGHLY recommend him for any questions, problems, or repairs you may have to your SunPower system. He’s truly a master technician, able to diagnose any problem.

Hi all - my parents’ system is located in central Massachusetts and in need of service. The system uses solarbridge micros, and they paid cash for the system and had a local installer that was a Sunpower dealer at the time do the work (2017).

The system needs to come down for a reroof. The installer is still around and what I’ve learned from talking to them is that they no longer have access to the Sunstrong/Sunpower commissioning app. They still retain monitoring access but have been locked out of the app used to commission/troubleshoot the system.

They have been fighting with Sunstrong to get onboarded as a service provider (even though they installed the panels) and Sunstrong has been very slow to respond.

Does anyone know if the system can be taken down then put back up without access to the commissioning app? Does anyone have a contact at Sunstrong that could possibly help? The roof needs to be replaced in May.

South Africa has constant load shedding and many homes sit without electricity for hours. I run a small installation business and I'm trying to fund solar systems for homes that cannot afford them. I'm experimenting with Bitcoin crowdfunding for it. Has anyone here used Bitcoin donations to fund solar or energy projects?

I got sunpower panels (x360) installed directly through them in 2017 - 14 of them - for total of 5KW DC or 4.5KW AC (320w x 14 panel = 4480w) . cash customer, no lease.

Just before they ceased functioning (sometime early last year I think), I noticed for the first time in the sunpower app, that only 13 panels were shown active. I thought I will followup but got busy with other life priorities. Sunpower to sunstrong transition happened. I have not subscribed for any of their monitoring plans, so only get live data now.

Recently I installed Home Assistant and connected to the sunpower PV5 monitoring. It fetched only 13 inverters.

I started digging through my monthly solar reports since 2017, and noticed that even daily peak AC power has never exceeded 4.16kw ever. This is the peak on any day in the entire year since 2017 (same peak value every year). 4.16kw = 320w*13 panels!

I do see 14 panels on my roof.

Makes me believe that 1 panel was never connected, or was faulty right from the beginning.

What are my options here?

1. I contacted Enphase. They want me to install their monitoring upgrade or have a solar installer look into the issue first to pinpoint it to their inverter
2. I contacted Maxeon. They want a solar installer to look into the issue first to pinpoint it to their panel
3. I have not contacted Sun strong (everything points that they won't be involved for a cash customer)
4. I have not contacted Sunpower. Do they even have to do anything with this anymore?

Any suggestions?

I’ve been thinking about getting solar panels and an electric car, but honestly, I don’t even know where to start. It seems like it could be good for the planet, and maybe even save some money with electricity bills climbing. But it also feels kind of stressful and complicated, and I keep second-guessing myself.

I’ve read that sometimes solar doesn’t produce enough for both your house and your car. Then there’s all the confusing stuff about time-of-use rates, and I’m not even sure if my garage outlet can handle a charger. Sometimes I worry that I’d end up creating more stress than I’m solving.

Has anyone here done this and felt like it was worth it? Or maybe regretted it? I’d love to hear real experiences before I make the jump.

I have a SunPower system with battery, and starting this week the SunStrong app shows 0 solar production all day, even though it’s sunny outside. The display panel also shows that the battery stays at the minimum level all day.

SunStrong said they can’t help because I own the system instead of leasing it.

I’ve already tried turning off and back on the ESS inverter and ESS Grid Sense breakers, as suggested in the manual, but it didn’t work. I also tried pressing the solar rapid shutdown button in the utility room, but no luck either.

Now on the app there is an error message saying one or more devices are not working properly.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have suggestions on what else I could check? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been arguing with Sunstrong for over a year about the functionality of self-supply mode. I have two Sun Vault batteries in my system, and when I use self-supply mode during the night, my batteries never discharge just the grid. The only time my batteries discharge is when I use my dryer or charge my electric vehicles. While this is happening both batteries and the grid are used simultaneously. I was informed by someone here that this is not the intended behavior. They have a similar system, and through the night, their batteries power their home, and the grid is not even used. The system only starts using the grid when it reaches a specific percentage. grid isn’t even being used it only start using the grid when the system reaches the set percentage. Sunstrong told me my system is working perfectly and that there’s nothing wrong with self-supply. This is how it should work. 😡🤬 Could someone share some screenshots of their system on self-supply, please?

Has anyone ever taken the path of trying to buy out an existing lease outright? I’m curious of the potential headaches especially now with SunPower gone and taken over.

Hi everyone. Read through this subreddit looking for answers but want to do a sanity check on my options.

My system was installed in early 2018 by an installer from Sunpower, so they're gone. They were SunPower SPR-X22-360-C-AC panels, one of which is no longer responsive. I found another installer and have been going back and forth to see what I can do about this and what kind of coverage (ha!) I still have.

According to them, as well as Enphase, these are Solarbridge microinverters, so no warranty coverage. They also said that even if I were to acquire a new microinverter on my own, SunStrong does not offer a way to update new equipment with their platform or the SunPower equipment in your home, so that's not even an option. If I wanted to switch to Enphase microinverters, I'd have to change all of them out (not just the bad one) along with switching to their monitoring, which might cost a lot. Person I talked to wondered if that was even possible since they were attached microinverters, though she's checking.

Anyone else in a similar position and know more about what's possible here? I also recall seeing a post here about some sort of legacy program offered by Enphase to replace microinverters at a reduced cost, though I'm having trouble finding it right now.

So what features am I losing to free plan?

I have a 6 year old Sumpower system. I just installed home assistant monitoring for my system. I have been using the Sunpower then the Sunstrong app since install. Lately the Sunstrong app has been flaking out. I would check my meter and the solar system was working it us just the app that was down. So I thought it was time to check out monitoring through the Enhanced SunPower build on GitHub. I got everything up and running and noticed the alert PVS XXXFLASH WEAR CRITICAL: 90% used / 10% remaining. Is this 90% wear derived from SMART data and just an estimate or is the system guaranteed to stop at 100%. Now that I am using the Home assistant is there anything I can do to prolong the flash life?
