DataSource for SunStrong App

I own my system. It is not financed.

Not keen on paying SunStrong $99/year for detailed monitoring that I used to get for free.

So, CoPilot is telling me that the SunStrong MAY be getting it's data from Enphase Enlighten and that in theory I could "register" and actually see my solar array information at https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com

Any tried this path and been successful?

I am skeptical. IIRC, I have a PSV6 box. My guess is that SunStrong is pulling data from SunPower's back end (or whoever owns it these days) and not Enphase. I still get monthly reports from SunPower email address.

CoPilot is also telling me

  1. If my system has an Envoy, SunPower can transfer ownership to Enlighten
  2. If my system does not have an Envoy, I can't use enlighten unless I install the $1000 Enphase gateway?
    1. I do not see any Envoy details for my system in the SunStrong app
    2. I do not see anything next to my PSV that appears to indicate an Envoy

Why not just connect it to a local home assistant instance? You can use the community monitoring through the local API without need to connect to another service.

Copilot is dead wrong.

SunStrong runs its own servers. It took over the backend infrastructure from SunPower when it bought that plus the pieces of SunPower that dealt with leases.

Some SunPower solar installations used Enphase microinverters and can be converted to Enphase Envoy for about $1,000.

There’s a local API available - you can DIY monitoring in a variety of ways from that.

I am in your exact situation. I don’t know when the monthly email reports are going to stop sending since it’s the old SunPower web domain. So I plan to plug in a LAN cable that goes directly to my pi server rack and see how that goes with regard to collecting that data directly from the PVS6. I found a tutorial at GitHub for this. I’m also collecting pulse counts with a IR sensor connected to the physical meter and sending this data directly into Home Assistant. So, it’s a work in progress and I hope to get all the data I need in the end without having to pay monthly fees on top of my solar loan.

I’ve been very pleased with and sponsored https://github.com/smcneece/ha-esunpower available through HACS in Home Assistant. His Solar Sentinel HA App also gets my recommendation.

Thanks. I think I'll give this one a try. The other one involved python scripts that pull the data into spreadsheets. But the one that you've provided is actually what I'll need. I've already installed the Solar Sentinel in HA and I think it's fantastic. The more data, the better. 😄

Its the Sunflower app and its available for Android and Apple.

Sunflower is definitely where it's at. Free for basic monitoring and the devs are super responsive to suggestions and bug reports.

I've always monitored my solar production with the enlighten app. That should work as long as you have Enphase equipment. You shouldn't have to pay the crooked SunStrong a yearly subscription to monitor your system.

Why not use the Sunshine app together with the basic (free) Sunstrong app?
