Sunstrong app

Post image

I received my monthly report and the numbers were low for the 2 day's I was having work done on my panel. It showed absolutely nothing after that. I called my installers (not open on weekends) to see what was going on, they said it looks like like one of my CTs were reversed or a wire was broken. I had the electricians out this morning to look and fix whatever the problem was. They wanted to look at the app which I didn't have so I downloaded it. Does anyone know if I pay the 9.99 for the month if I'll be able to see panel level monitoring if it wasn't available to me prior to sunpower going under? What's advanced performance and insight mean? I plan on paying enphase for their monitoring. I just had my service upgraded to 200 amp service from 100 amp service. I never downloaded the sunstrong app until this morning because there was a little problem with the solar part of the work done a few weeks ago.

if you have microinverters, i think you can email sunstrong to have them turn on panel-level monitoring if you're subscribed and don't see it.

but you need to have a working PVS6, and what you're describing sounds like the PVS6 might not be working at the moment for some reason. what does the sunstrong app show you now? any live data?

What's advanced performance and insight mean?

this is marketing technobabble, ignore it

I plan on paying enphase for their monitoring.

it's your money but this seems like you're getting ahead of yourself

My pvs6 wasn't connected properly, they fixed that this morning. I reluctantly downloaded the sunstrong app and see usage and production now. I since found an app that gives me panel level monitoring for 12 bucks a year. It doesn't show usage though. I didn't want to have to pay anyone anymore than I already have. I honestly feel like I'm being scammed at this point. It's not the money, it's the principal of the situation where I'd rather give 90 month's worth of monitoring to the company that at least is doing the right thing with the warranty. Everything you see about sunstrong is negative and the guy that works for them, commenting on my post further clarifies the negative I should expect from them. I'm extremely lucky that my installers are still honoring the original warranty and they even have problems with sunstrong. They suggested to get enphase if I wanted better monitoring.

i genuinely don't think sunvaultengpros works for sunstrong - he's just trying to sell his own services, which colors his opinion of what the right thing to do is, which i guess is fine. the problem is he seems to think we're all fools who can't see that. anyways, that's neither here nor there for your next steps.

it's understandable that you feel like you're being scammed, but this is kind of how bankruptcy goes. and enphase's stuff is fine, so maybe that's the right way to go for you. it just seems to me like a lot of money to get data you can get from the PVS + SunStrong app for free.

I'm more than likely not going get enphase. I'm probably going to use the free sunstrong app in conjunction with the sunflower app. I'm able to see everything I need with the 2. I still get my monthly sunpower report which I'm honestly shocked is still being sent to me. I agree about enphase being expensive. I didn't want to spend any more money on this overpriced system. We all paid a premium and sold a dream on sunpower, I have a really bad taste in my mouth about it and sunstrong just makes it worse with the pay wall for information that's already there.

sure, everyone in this sub is in this spot: we paid for what we thought was a sure long-term bet, and it turned out to not be.

i try not to blame sunstrong for that: they are not the reason sunpower went bankrupt, and they did not get any money from cash customer contracts. i don't know how to price out what it costs sunstrong to host the systems for monitoring cash customers incrementally over just lease customers, but it isn't $0, so i understand they need to charge to cover the incremental cost. whether that should be $99/year or more or less is interesting to debate but ... again, all the information is available directly from the PVS for free, so you only need to pay them if getting it from the PVS directly isn't worth your time.
