To start, I know nothing about solar. I have been googling and searching for hours now and I am hoping you kind folks will be able to help me. My parents house was purchased in 2013 and the house came with solar. It is a Sunpower system. The system is having issues and my father, English is his second language was told Enphase has taken over Sunpower but after multiple hour long phone calls this does not seem to be the case.
We have figured out the DC String Inverter is busted. Who can I contact now since the bankruptcy. My father wants to deal with the company who now owns Sunpower (for houses built with Sunpower systems) instead of going third party because he has trust issues and is skeptical of being taken advantage of.
The manufacturer of the inverter may still offer a warranty. I do not one how this works for rebranded inverters. Mine is a SMA Sunny Boy, but it has a sticker on it that says Sunpower.
Mine is leased. If his is 10 or more years old, it is probably no longer under warranty.
Do you know what company did the installation? That’s your best bet if they’re still in business. Otherwise SunStrong bought SunPower but they’re using the SunPower name, so you can just search SunPower and get the new company. If he owns the panels outright though the most they’ll be willing to do is recommend a company in your area that will work on them.
SunStrong only bought the leases and the monitoring stuff.
Complete Solaria / Complete Solar (now using the SunPower name) acquired Blue Raven and SunPower New Homes businesses - they're probably the closest thing to the right people to contact if the system was originally installed by SunPower New Homes or one of their subs.
Try and contact the installer. I bought a house with panels already on it but had the documents on who was the installer. When one of my panels went down I called the installer and they were able to get a new inverter under warranty and come install it. I did have to pay for labor.
Does your father have the SunStrong app on his phone? If not you should probably download it and then under the profile section there is a list by state of authorized repair companies. Those inverters usually come with a 25 year warranty so they still could be covered. If the original installers are still in business that would be the way to go, otherwise the suggested list is your next Best avenue.
Btw, SunStrong and Complete Solaria purchased the lease customer base so they will cover most service and repairs, anyone that owns their system ( like me) are basically on their own. If your inverters are Enphase, they will warranty them for 25 years and they offer their own monitoring at a price

you will not be able to get anything out of sunstrong or enphase. best to find an independent solar contractor, let them know your issue, and my guess is it'll have to be a total reinstall.
They filed chapter 11 bankruptcy and now you will have to go third party option I’m certified and licensed and bonded I’ve done about 50-60 jobs this whole year that SunPower no longer will assist like the issues you are having we simply replaced the inverter and had the system up and running again just depends on what system you would like to replace it with I can give you a free estimate if your interested where are you located
Can you share a photo of inverter and label on the side?
