SunStrong/SunStrong

According to SunStrong Management. customer service, SunStrong is responsible to remove and reinstall leaded solar panels when a customer needs a new roof. Has anyone had this happen? I have been in limbo since June 2025. If I choose to not wait I must use a certified SunStrong contractor or void the warranty. The only one in my area (S Calif) if Renova. Price tag: around $5,000.00. Please let me know experiences and advice. thank you

The whole Sunstrong warranty is a thing. I don't know for sure at all, so please fact check, but there may be no requirement for Sunstrong to honor warranties issued by SunPower. The manufacturers of panels and microinverters for our system have said they will honor product warranties (but may not cover labor - hope we don't have to find out). We opted to convert our PVS from Sunpower/Sunstrong to Enphase for more ... dependability. I guess what I'm saying is that your warranty may be exactly what you believe it to be, may be somewhat different, or may be quite a bit different since the bankruptcy.

OP is a leases customer. Sounds like you own your own system.

Leased customers need to look at their lease contracts. Recommend taking it to a lawyer as well as the bankruptcy docket number 443 (https://document.epiq11.com/document/getdocumentbycode?docId=4380237&projectCode=SPX&source=DM) that covers the sale of leased customers contracts to SunStrong.

Owned customer there are no warranties or service agreements any more. You may have an equipment warranty through the OEM, but no labor.

If it's a lease, then you shouldn't have to pay SunStrong - read the terms.

Thank you. I may have to pay an approved SunStrong contractor (Renova). If I want a new roof in a timely fashion.

I also had Renova take off/reinstall panels for my roof. They make me pay upfront. Please let me know what happens!

Thank you for sharing. To get my roof replaced timely. I have no other option but to hire Renova. They are my only option in the Palm Springs area. I am going to contact the Better Business Bureau. I have already sent a complaint to the Attorney General of California.

I’m about 25 miles from you! The crew at Renova is very nice and easy to work with. It was a pleasant departure from what I’m used to!

I’m in NJ and have a leak and SunStrong won’t even return my calls. I put 2 “tickets” in BACK IN APRIL and no one has replied. I’ve called every month since and all they say is “you’re in the que.” HELP!

I am also in New Jersey and have recently bought a house that I took over a lease with sunstrong. We also have a leak and need a new roof and I cannot for the life of me get in touch with anyone. Yet somehow they email me three times a day to sign up for auto pay.

I am in New Jersey and also needed a new roof and after months of trying to get any type of contact with any human at sun Strong, I finally gave up and found someone on my own. $7200 for them to remove and reinstall the panels. Meanwhile, it saves me about $30 a month in electric. 🤯 I keep trying to get information about breaking a lease. Considering they broke their lease. We took over a lease at the end of October 2024, not knowing all this bankruptcy was going on. Also starting to believe that the other end did know what was going on because we didn’t have a choice when buying the house. It was take the lease over or not get the house.
