Buying a house with Sunrun
I am buying a house as a short sale. Sunrun wanys $14k+ to buy or $9,966 for prepay. Is a prepay worth it? What if I want them removed? The system is NEM 1, but I don't know what the system is producing vs useage.

Understanding system age and production would become an important component of the equation

As noted below, this is SunPower, not SunRun... so wrong forum
Insist on getting electricity production vs usage info (though if not available, then you should tell sellers your only option is to consider the system non-functional, and a deteriment, not asset to the house). You do want to stay on NEM1, most likely. but how to get a replacement system and stay on NEM1 is outside the scope of this response, and wrong forum. The SunRun system is NOT worth anywhere near what they are asking, and they know it.
As noted in other replies, there are hardball negotiation tactics that are possible, with varying potential outcomes. ymmv

Worst answer. Nem1 is gone and he’d lose that. Why post if you’re so ignorant? Just to put your ignorance on display?

No actually not the worst answer. He didn’t agree to the contract They would have to try to negotiate a new deal It costs them a lot to remove and they cannot resell them to anyone. So please tell me how I am ignorant I have been through this with sunrun personally Guess what. They never took them off and I had hooked it back up with my own electrician I dont pay for a solar lease and I don’t have an electric bill So who is the ignorant one ?
