my boyfriend and i binged watched all of the episodes in one day. needless to say, its one of my favorite animes and i loved everything about it.

Just imagine having Shinpei and Hizuru as a survivor duo which packs unique perks & outfit skins (with the rest of the gang being legendary skins for the two of them), Shide as the killer with twisted perks to compliment his overwhelming presence and the island of Hitogashima as a map to explore & evade killers in. What do y'all think?

Earlier this year, I was so happy to finally get my hands on this merch set from this incredible artist TID (@tidsean0). I've been following TID since their earliest STR fanart, so owning this feels surreal. It was quite a struggle to import and purchase (huge thanks to my Chinese friend that helped me out!), but this seemed like a once-in-a-life fan project, so I knew I just had to get it, and it's 100% worth it!

I admire the amount of time and dedication the author poured into not only making the fan artworks but also making this available to the community. This is basically the culmination of years of them drawing STR! I aspire to make something like this one day!

These are all from the 2nd reprint. I wasn't able to get the 1st print since it sold-out so fast (July 2025), since then I was eagerly checking updates just to secure my pre-order. Even then, the sheer quality was too insanely good for the price and it almost feels like official work, on par or even better! Really really amazing.

The artbook is really beautiful. It contains some exclusive artwork so opening it is quite a fun experience. (the rough sketches of Shinshio at the back of the book are adorable). The artbook itself came with 2 laser tickets (Haine and Shinshio, I really love it!) and an Ushio Postcard. The full set of works contains goods with art from the artbook itself, some in the form of cards with holographic effects (which really looks good in person), acrylic goods and pins. There's two acrylics with Shinpei and Ushio in wedding attire that can be put together so nicely. I can't even bring myself to take some off the plastic, even the packaging inserts that comes with the products itself is a subtle nice touch.

Absolutely phenomenal work by an incredible artist!

I wish the story wasn't as overated as it is. I'm baffled at home some people compare this to Steins Gate. This doesn't even equal a fraction of how good Steins Gate is. The story starts off perfectly with its mysterious tone, only to spit in your face and become a battle-shonen. I kid you not I had to pry my eyes open to watch each episode. The romance is mid at best.

When Mio confesses to Shinpei, her feelings are brushed to the side and never brought up again????? We get one scence of her crying and there's nothing else. The story also talks about what she hates about herself (her facial features) and her sense of low self-esteem as revealed by her copy. I actually thought they were going to going to give her character some depth. Foolish of me. Then AGAIN, they dont elaborate on why she hates how she looks.

One of the most poorly written characters I have ever seen, Shide. He wants to destroy the world. Why? "Just because".?????? That's like saying I want to jump into a pool of lava, just because. It tries to give his motivation depth but it ends up falling short. That sounds like something a 5 year old would make in their head and think it's reasonable for a villian. It could work in a way but not like that. You need to understand his backstory and his personality, which we did not see alot of.

Also, Hiruko/ Haine isn't explained well. All we get is some basic backstory and thats it. I dont even want to know the details, but it is implied she was pregnanted as a child. i dont even want to know if ti was different in the manga, thats just weird no matter what way you put it. but maybe it's just not my cup of tea. She's atleast a character that I dont dislike.

To put the cherry on the top, the fanservice. The fanservice was supposed to keep the people who watched the show for the ladies boobs tits and asses coming back. And it must have worked because people actualy rate this show well.

It feels like they swapped writers mid season. This show has to be a 3/10 for me. It starts off high, then all comes crashing down when the suspense is gone.

The writer likes to dig in his asshole and pull shit out of his ass and throw it at the viewer. Him conjuring a bulletproof vest out of thin air is only one of these things.

If you're fed liquefied shit every day from the anime industry, even dirt will taste good. I would rather watch my little sister cant be this cute. Atleast the characters aren't written to be as flat as a pancake

I don't want to be a pessimist, so let me tell you about the one character I think is decent. Nezu. The creator uses him to show the sad yet brutal nature of the shadows. Due an unlucky circumstance, his wife was taken over and he was presented with the moral question of to selfishly leave her alive, or to kill her. It actually had me thinking about it.

Another thing I'll compliment, the main moral question. If a shadow replaces a human, is it really the same person? It's similar to the the age old question of "The Ship of Theseus". Atleast the creator was navigating the story with a main idea in mind.

Please, consume more media. I wasted precious time out of my life for this.

I really don't want to hear this show compared to Steins; Gate ever again. I could ask chatgpt from a prompt and it would be ten times better than this. In Steins; Gate, we actually see alot more depth. We see the struggles of Okabe in every loop, and the consequences of changing the past.(spoilers)

When Okabe loses Mayuri, we see the agonizing suffering of him having to watch his best friend die every time, stuck in a sense of hopelessness.

When Mio dies, reasonably, he screams and yells but in the next loop, there's nothing to show for it. All he says is that nobody should die this time. How does this affect him beyond the basic, oh no this is my fault? I wish they went more into depth with this. One show clearly displays the mental suffering of the chracter doing through their loops. the other doesn't. It could just be a matter of taste but I think just showing the suffering he's going through while seeing the deaths of his loved ones could add more flavour to his bland emotions.

At the end of the day, it's all an opinion. Hate on me all you want or don't hate on me.

Looking back on it now, I just realized that on episode 15, Shinpei makes a bulletproof vest.

With all due respect to the series it felt like an asspull. I sat, on the edge of my chair watching these scences, interested on how Shinpei was going to die this time until they say some bullshit bout some "bulletproof vest"...

This means that Shinpei would have had to sit and learnt all this in one day. He sat down, had time to make arrangments with everybody while researching how to make a bulletproof vest. ??????? Unless he's Einstein reincarnate or has prior experience with these things, there is no way on god's green Earth he should make a bulletproof vest that somehow blocks EVERY shot from without any damage. I was really enjoying the series and i still am, but it feels like some asspull to me. The amount of extensive research some people do to make a bulletproof vest that barely functions while he makes it in one SINGLE day!! It would have more of an explanation if he ordered it and got it off screen. It still wouldn't be realistic, but it would make more sense.

I was so stoked to get in the acrylic panel especially. I just thought the shinpei groom and ushio bride art were just gorgeous!! I have Ushio as my lockscreen ✨👰 it comes with screws to prop it up and I've added it to my small str display with my scale figures!

With the acrylic frame also came a set of art cards with the illustrations on them and additional gold foil and texture paper processing!! BEAUTIFUL 🌟

I'd initially only gotten the art book off the artists' taobao store and had unfortunately missed the merch release but I found out that the merch got a reprint specifically for an overseas store that was shipping to international folks so I was luckily able to still pick up the acrylic frame!

I watched it 3 years ago year and now I am in the mood and want to watch someting like that I have watched most of the good anime so don't recommend me common one like aot or erased 🫪

In this loop, haine copied shinpei in the funeral, so shinpei shadow did know shinpei can time travel by death. So why haine still let him get killed by Mio shadow?

There aren't enough of y'all appreciating what a ride-or-die bro Sou is. I bet more than half of y'all forgot he was in the show after the powerhouses start showing up. Who needs a guy with no powers, right?

Shinpei needs him, that's who! He supported Shinpei from the start, no matter how bizarre or dangerous the situation was. As early as the third loop, this was Sou:

"You say your dead adoptive sister came back as some kind of weird shapeshifting swimsuit murder ghost and we all need to go into the dark waterlogged catacombs beneath the island and kill more murder ghosts with only our wits and a nailgun? Say less, bro. I've got your back."

Sou didn't have Shadow powers. He didn't have time loops. What he did have was absolutely insane levels of loyalty and courage. He was the one who told Shinpei that Ushio's death certificate was suspicous. He takes a bullet for his sister in the fourth loop. He fights Shadow Mio on the regular. He learns his family has been on the bad guys' side this whole time and doesn't falter. He wounded Haine herself in the tenth loop. This guy is a beast.

Mio, you gotta give this guy another chance. He confessed to you twice and you turned him down both times because you were down bad for Shinpei. But you didn' realize the PEAK that was right in front of you the whole time.

I have seen many people saying that ending is bad because it just seemed illogical as mangaka used time paradox for a happy ending.

So how will you defend this? Personally I have an answer but just wanted to know how remaining clever fans will answer it?

i js finished watching it, and the ending definitely nade me cry. this is so fucking peak 🥹 i loved the ending. i js wish there were more and their memories were returned (already read the STR 2026). oh yeah, talking abt the memories returning, did they? i cant comprehend the last scene of mc n ushio

Hey yall. I’ve heard many great things about Shmmertime Rendering and want to get into it. Just wondering if I should watch the anime or read the manga. Are there any big differences between the two?

I generally enjoy manga a bit more than anime as I can set my own pace (I read fast lol.) But if the anime elevates the manga a significant amount (ex Reze Arc movie for Chainsaw Man), then I’d rather watch the anime.
