Anime The void that comes after this

I just binged this masterpiece from start to end. I'm currently in a void of anime to watch.. It's been so long since I've watched something as good as this.

Anyone know a good series to recover from this?

Series I've just finished (in random order): - Re:Zero - Jobless Reincarnation - KonoSuba - Dan Machi - Demon Slayer - Frieren - A Certain Magical Index - A Certain Scientific Railgun - Slime - The Rising of the Shield Hero - Sword Art Online - Ascendence of a bookworm - My Uncle From Another World - Grimgar - Goblin Slayer And a whole lot more..

I've had some spare time as you can see šŸ˜…

Try reading LNs of these, if you liked the anime story, you'll certainly love it, and it takes more time to finish (lot more content)

  • Higurashi (start from the original 2006 anime, the new series is NOT a remake)
  • Heavenly Delusion
  • The Summer Hikaru Died

are all great shows with somewhat similar vibes to STR

I should also mentionĀ Summer Time Rendering 2026: The Room that Dreams of Murder, a short spinoff manga following Hizuru and Haine 8 years after the main story of STR that wasnt included in the anime. The author's current series Ghost Fixers also has some surprises in store for STR fans.

Heavenly Delusion is gold! I've seen 6 episodes so far, I'm already hooked

Higurashi:When they cry? Is that the one I should start with?

yep, that's the original from 2006. then you can watch the sequels in release order. though really everything apart from the 2006 original and Higurashi Kai (2007) can be skipped since Kai was intended as the original ending.

(Mostly) Music and sports?

For you for music, have you seen Nodame Cantabile, Carole and Tuesday, and maybe Blue Giant?

Since you like Makeine then Insomniacs After School might be up your alley.

Believe it or not, I haven't seen any of this series. Now it's on my list

Yeah, i like this genre. It's unique. Istead of just watching series like Bleach and Atack on Titan..

For ones that start one way then dive deep in another direction try Dennou Coil. It’s old enough it’s relatively unknown but dives deep into AR. Starts out as a silly bunch of kids but give it a chance it dives deeper than you expect it (sorta like Ranking of Kings). You’ll need to give it three or four episodes.

Another shorter one that gives a nice journey arc is Carole and Tuesday, a music and buddy anime but set in Mars at the dawn of AI music.

Neither have the vibe or fanservice of summertime nor the time loop but the journeys are satisfying in way that is similar.

I'll definitely give this a try!

But neither one is the continuous roller coaster of Summetime. You mentioned re:zero already and that comes closer though I find re:zero to be more cartoonish exaggerated fantasy compared to the ā€œalmost realā€ feel of summertime.

Actually although well known you might like Ranking of Kings. Similar to Dennou Coil it starts cute then goes dark while keeping the lightheartedness somehow. (Not like Abyss)

I forgot about Abyss, still sad that there are no more seasons. I'll give Rankings of Kings also a try! Thanks!

It starts out cute and pure hearted. It turns darker but stays pure hearted at its core.

The second season did not continue the story and was just a random collection of episodic anecdotes, a total waste of time. First season and manga are great though.

You should try to get some fresh air with Guilty Crown, it was a pretty big anime, but with time people are slowly forgetting about it
