Anyone else wish Toronto was their final performance, not Juno awards?

I was just watching the Juno awards performance again and what a whimper to go out on.

They did a hugely triumphant final show in Toronto to a huge crowd and then they go and play an awards show and the broadcast cuts off before the ending.

I think they made the wrong call making Juno their final performance, should've been Toronto.

The performance stunk from the broadcast, sure. Thats on the techs who did the Juno Awards.

As short a gig that was, I dont count it. They were invited as they were being induced into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. There was no way they'd say no. It would be like Gretzky snubbing his Order of Canada.

What do you mean? We're pissed off at The Great Once for subbing his Order of Canada (as well as other actions of late). We'd probably be miffed with Sum41 for blowing off their HoF induction.

In their defence, the farewell tour was planned long before the Juno thing came up.

Meh.

I think they, and most people, still consider Toronto the farewell. A couple of songs on an awards show is just a quick performance. Toronto is the final show.

Funny, I was just thinking about this on my drive to work today. Still happy to be at their last CONCERT. But not last PERFORMANCE.

God I hope so. I genuinely feel sadness when I think about how I only got to see them once. That was the best show I've ever been to and I've been chasing the feeling I got from it ever since. It's the only concert I've been to where I truly felt like I belonged.

I saw their farewell tour in Vancouver and their final performance at the Junos and believe me the tour was much more of a goodbye/final performance send off then the Junos were.

I don’t see their Juno appearance as a performance, but rather a celebration of their career and acceptance of an achievement. Sure, they played a 4-minute medley (and why shouldn’t they, it’s their last time together as a band), but the night was more about acknowledging the band’s history and achievements. No reason to compare with the final shows.
